Want to play beautiful chord triads? This lesson is for you!
I’m going to show you an easy trick that you can use to harmonize triads together and make them sound insanely beautiful and dreamy.
It’s all about changing one note in the triads to reach more colorful notes and extensions. Very easy to apply!
I did that in my recent Ambient Guitar Song called ‘’10 Years’’ and I’m unveiling that chord triads secret in this lesson today!

I didn't know what I did on my guitar thousands of times as a teenage kid wrecked on bong hits would ever be explained 25 years later in an in depth guitar lesson😂... Yes pick through a chord and move a note... if it sounds good keep it in the memory bank then try another combo. When it gets interesting is in trying different base notes over the changed note to really state an emotion.

This is a lesson that reveals the relationship between “top set” triads to their barre chords, shows how diatonic extensions can add color to those same triads, and THEN adds harmonization. Hard to believe he did it in a few mins? I took those triads with the Oolimo app and was able to map out the voicings across the neck.

This is one of the most useful online lessons I've come across. I've been doing something similar in my playing for a few years but I didn't really connect the dots for "how and why" it works, which has limited me a bit. Absolutely pathetic, as it was nothing more than doubling with minor variations, using the notes in the same scale to create texture and tension. If I could go back and do anything differently, it would be learning music theory early on.

@MOAB-UT
@MOAB-UT 11 месяцев назад
@@chainsawkarate Not really necessary IMHO. One trick I use is to put a tuner on the headstock. When you play the triad, notice the 3 notes. The root should be in there. Chords are only 3 notes. Root, 3rd 5th (major.) Root, Flat 3rd, 5th (minor.)
@chainsawkarate
@chainsawkarate 11 месяцев назад
@@MOAB-UT the whole point of that was so that we could see how the chord changes when you change one note. For example, moving the third up a half step changes the major chord to a sus. That would be helpful to see. But thanks for your input. Chords can also be more than 3 notes, but I'm sure you knew that.
@MOAB-UT
@MOAB-UT 11 месяцев назад
@@chainsawkarate Gotcha and I agree. It would be helpful. Yes- I meant the main chords. I play a bit of jazz too and those chords can get complex like a C7#5#9. Ironically, I often prefer the simplest of chordal tones. Purple Rain and Prince tunes in general are an exception- sounds great but tricky chords for sure. I like playing along with backing tracks on YTbe. Most will show the changes in real time and even let you know when it is about to change which is very helpful. Again, I am a simple cat. I can play many complex tunes but find myself chillin to simple things most often. Even single chord vamps can be a lot of fun. Helps you drill down on finding the root note and chord tones in the scale. I've also learned how to play 3 scales over a Major Blues progression and how to play Major and Minor Penta over some Major progressions. All fun stuff! Have you ever heard of Jamey Arent? He has some really good videos and simple tips that have helped my playing a lot. I also dig on Zombie Guitar- Brian is a great teacher. Who do you like- what are you trying to learn? In this video, I really like how Jamey shows a super (and again, dead SIMPLE) colorful version of G, C to D. Sounds actually different and much better. Here is that video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t7xtULjr13g.htmlsi=VvnNTzH23xGkUawM&t=340 I feel smarter after watching his videos! And it's free so a double bonus!

You can use a capo up the neck to emulate the fortunate, but still the thumb can't, unless its a mandolin I suppose...😃 Nice upload Antoine...Thanks.
