More gold=more opportunity to steal from the AI

I always thought that the Deity AI was a smarter AI like when I play chess with a computer and change the difficulty. Then I realized that they just gave them a bunch of starting settlers and units and give them a bunch of bonuses but they're still as dumb as bricks.

@@formerunsecretarygeneralba9536Tbh it makes me feel better about not playing against Deity. It's like those games where the difficulty rating only determines how much of a bullet sponge your opponents are.

@@Amorphous_Sandexactly like that. Loved fallout and Skyrim, but higher difficulty just makes them sheer bullet sponges. Nothing more immersion breaking than shooting a raider several times in the face with a shotgun, just to get killed by his lead pipe haha

I suppose the realistic solution would be for the computer to value each item independently instead of applying the same price to all of them. For example, if the AI has zero iron, the first iron in the stack you're selling should be valued as its first iron, but the second iron should be valued as its second iron (i.e., less valuable than the first), and so forth, even if you're selling it all as one stack. Likewise, if the AI has forty iron, the first iron in the stack you're buying should be valued as its fortieth iron, the second as its thirty-ninth, and so forth. Of course, this would doubtless take more processing power.

@@erickpoorbaugh6728 Yeah good idea conceptually. They should just have several "checkpoints" where its valued at certain amounts (like every 5 the ai recieves/loses will change how they value it when they are below 40 and every 10 or so when above 40)

this mechanic was already in morrowind 23 years ago where even at low mercantile you can just sell things and buy it back which at first has you at a slight loss but it would take you mere minutes to rank it up enough to be positive trades and a few more mere minutes and you last name may as well be rockerfeller.

I haven't tested it, but it should work on all difficulties. Some of the reasons I can think of that can cause it to fail are: 1 you don't have enough room to store all the resources, so you can't buy all the resources back from the AI. 2 the AI really dislikes you and asks for a high price. This is fine, just keep repeating the trade, and the AI will gradually grow fond of you, and the trades tip in your favor. Very rarely, one or two AI hate you so much that the prices remain high no matter what, just give up in that case. 3 AI hasn't discovered that resource yet, and doesn't recognize its value. 4 AI only buys a maximum of 40 horses, 40 irons, 40 nitre, 22 coal, 22 oil, 22 aluminum, if I remember correctly. So don't sell more than that to the AI.

Change launch parameters to open in windowed mode. That fixes it

they changed how strategics in the DLC, so instead of just having 1-2 it's a cache now

@@nintendogamer1926 Resource stockpiles is a DLC feature, so no. Base game, you either do or don’t have a resource.

Build wide. Mine every iron resource you can get.

80 gold per turn at around turn 20-30 is an insane amount of gold haha, which is where you'd do this

@@boesthius that’s also true. I guess I’m looking at this as more of a mid to later game thing. I tried to do it with India and they only wanted to give me 1 gold to fill their stockpile which was like 37 iron. Wasn’t working there for some reason 😂

@@andrewsmitley8569 oh yeah late game it isn't really that impactful, but being able to accumulate 2400 gold~ before turn 50 from it is is pretty nice

How did u make to work? When I try to Buy the resources they won't sell it

sometimes, however in general it's more useful to get the GPT because over the 30 turns you'll be gaining like 1.5x - 2x more gold overall

well if you cant do it regularly maybe you should learn the basic mechanics first then deity isnt even hard

@@zachforbes3901 get the Quick Deals mod. You can easily borrow and lend money in the "Exchange tab". Usually the interest rate is about 10% but the loans income stacks so fast, especially if there are a lot of civs in the game. Be sure not to lend money to your enemies though because you’ll lose the GPT immediately after declaring a war

Iron builds up in your stockpile from the iron mines u have, one mine might give 3 iron per turn until the stockpile is full

@@jameslawn6159 its not console/pc thing. If u dont have governors and or your strategic resources work differently its because u dont own DLC.

I play on quick speed usually and the AI won't accept delegations when you first meet them, perhaps game speed also affects this.

It is the gathering storm dlc

Strategic resources work differently in gathering storm than they do in the base game.

It's about the gold per turn, not about the flat gold really

@@boesthius In the video, the AI seems to be asking you for a one-time payment of around 80 gold per cycle, but isn't offering you any one-time payment per cycle. Presumably, you'll run out of gold in your reserves at some point; your video cuts before that ever happens and your reserves seem to suddenly fill back up to 360. How do you get around that?
