Disclaimer: In our Home Defense series, Jason in not teaching laws or tactics. Jason is showing how he runs scenario based training for him and his family with the mindset of his state laws, with the understanding that even following state laws you can be prosecuted in the court of law.
In addition, Jason is walking you through the concepts a SEAL would use in these situations. You must identify your capabilities and understand the risks at hand before you can be effective.
-----
In this video Jason comes home to find a truck in his garage with no one present and the doors open. What would you do?!
In the state of Texas you have the legal right under Penal Code 9.41 to use “force” to protect you property. This does not support lethal force however in the video during my “force” the intruders pulled guns on me which then turns into self defense of myself inside my home while removing via force.

Im currently going through the ringer by a malicious prosecutor in missouri when i caught a pair of drug addled burglars breaking into my building. Im charged with 1st degree murder and armed criminal action despite meeting every single bit of criteria for castle doctrine and stand your ground. Out on 100,000 bond and still fighting for my life for defending myself at 3am.

I think there’s a valuable rule here, and he touches on it pretty hard: If something is not worth dying for, it’s not worth killing for. The person wouldn’t be threatening your life, if you weren’t actively hunting him. In this scenario, as he said, the best course of action is to call 911 and record what’s happening. If a family member is in the house, it’s a different story…

@@GodsWordNotMines yes many cameras everywhere you are correct but the crooks/intruders could of brought it with them 🤔 just saying….. As of recent estimates, there are approximately 393 million civilian-owned firearms in the United States. This number is based on various sources, including surveys, firearms production data, and registration records. However, it's important to note that estimating the exact number of guns in the country can be challenging due to factors such as “UNregistered” firearms and changes in ownership over time. You need to know a guy who knows a guy that knows a guy and so on 😂….but I think those numbers are much lower than reality. If you’re from the country you know where to go. Godbless ✌🏼

In SA there's no such thing, you call the cops and you would wait for 1 or 2 days for them to arrive, by that time robbers would have cleared your home out completely and only leave you with the walls, but then again if you approach the criminals you're also not allowed to shoot them unless they shoot you first, as ridiculous as that seems, it's the unfortunate truth. In SA you have to be battling for your life before you can defend yourself and the gun laws and justice system is so messed up,corrupt and flawed that you cannot even own a firearm yet criminals are given ARs and all sorts of firearms by the military and the police that they then use against you, and even if you do what they tell you to, they will still kill you, but hey we're not allowed to fight back, the slightest sign of self defense will land you in prison whilst the criminals walk free. You guys in the US should really appreciate the laws you have. Here if a criminal kills you, guess what? They will be out the very next day with a bailout of $100🙈

Nor should you. Many different ways to observe the property and call law enforcement. I have plenty of "gear" and some tactical training but the most I would do is drop my kids off at a neighbor or friend or down the street and block their car with mine and gtfo of there and call police. Should I happen to have a rifle on me at the time (not likely), I guess I would grab it and have it at the ready just in case. But main point is I would not go into the house with an unknown number of adversaries if no ones life is in danger. Blocking there vehicle prevents a quick getaway and prevents them stealing anything larger than what they can carry while running away on foot.

I had just pulled into my driveway when my camera inside the living room went off. I immediately jumped out of the truck with my carry pistol, popped the door and made entry. Right away I noticed a temperature increase, this was during the summer, so I backed out and went back to my truck. After checking the camera app on my phone I noticed it said temperature notification, my AC had gone out during the day. Relieved, I went back in and my dog was like bro it's hot as hell in here and I realized how quickly I had reacted. Yeah, I could have died if it was an intruder, but I'm not the type of person who relies on others for something I can do myself. Point of the story is the cops aren't required to help you anymore, having a mindset where you don't rely on them is better for what our future holds. Yes, it's just property, but it's my property and I worked damn hard for it, not going to wait minutes for cops to come and then try and arrest me for whatever reason like I've had them do in the past. We rely too much on first responders and waste their time, so I decided over 3 years ago never again unless it's an actual emergency.

If no family is at home, not going in yourself is definitely the right way to go. And would probably call the cop before going in. Sometimes intruders have a lookout hiding outside so you should at least be aware of that. Not having a wifi recording camera system you can check recorded history on your phone before going in is a shame too. Also correct on the security round, I remember this was discussed extensively in my ccw class (also Texas) you cannot pump one in after the fact. My cop friend told me to absolutely make sure they are dead if they tried to reach for their weapon after they are down though

I'm a federal law enforcement agent and it really is crazy how much trouble someone can get into for something that seems so simple and common sense. All the things we've been trained to do (gain tactical advantage, fire superiority, cover fire, dead-checks, etc.) can be a one way ticket to the Big House. Unless there is an absolute necessity, calling law enforcement as a civilian is ALWAYS the better option. On the times where deadly force is necessary, you need to stop if the threat stops. Good rule: EVERY ROUND HAS A LAWYER ATTACHED TO IT. EVERY CRIMINAL IS A VICTIM OF SOCIETY, A GOOD PERSON, A PROVIDER, A SAINT, AND DESERVED BETTER - ACCORDING TO THE DEFENSE ATTORNEY.

Well done, sir. I appreciate the finer details you go through. Pie-ing the room is the best way to stay safe even if you are trying to leave a dangerous situation and not engage. Practicing in your own house is a great advantage. Bonus for the "oopsie" rounds and the discussion about them.

This is beautiful! I’m no expert at all and I expected this to be another cheeseball video. I was incredibly surprised and I learned a lot! I live by the saying “you win 100% of the gunfights you aren’t in.” And you spoke to this perfectly. I will protect my family at all costs but only my home to an extent. I absolutely do not want to take a human life if I don’t have to and I want to make every effort to avoid doing so. Thank you so much for this.

Im super glad i stumbled upon your channel. I’ve been looking into getting a pistol for defense, and i always do a lot of research on RU-vid with anything, so that’s how I found your channel. I’ve watched three of your videos so far and you have lots of great information. I got bullied at school for a little while and then in middle school i started boxing and Brazilian jiu jitsu plus i grew up near LA skateboarding all over the place in super sketchy places and stuff and so all of that made me know to keep my head on a swivel and stay aware of my surroundings at all times and always know the best escape route. now i live in Mississippi and was in Texas before here but i am a very firm believer in defending yourself your family and any one else that needs defending at any and all times within your means and abilities and to the extent necessary unless it puts my love ones in danger that is. But I’m also a believer in not killing, if it happens it happens but i personally dont believe it’s ok to do that if you can get out of the situation or handle it without death, Anyways I’m really glad you said what you said at the end, if no body is home there’s no reason to go in. Dudes and even ladies sometimes have way too much of an ego and it gets in the way im sure i don’t need to tell you or anyone how often we hear people say things like “oh man if that dude says one more thing ima kill him” and stuff like that, but yeah if someone has the ability to just leave that’s what’s best there’s a lot of trouble that comes with putting people down in this type of situation especially when you don’t have to. I have a friend here who’s mom killed in self defense in her home and still went to prison for 10 years he was little at the time so she missed half his life pretty much. Now that’s something to think about right there. But i also liked how everything you did in that scenario it exactly what i was thinking as well, honestly a lot of it’s common sense but it does need to be practiced as much as possible cus when your scared and got that adrenaline or not the same like you said muscle memory. Plus i always like thinking about tactics and stuff ever with positive things

Incredible tactics! Really enjoyed the video and learned some things as well. I really liked how you covered all aspects and didnt just give one option like others do when they tell you "This is what you need to do" In the scenario you showed there were choices to either Fight or Flee because no loved ones were in the house or in immediate danger so it was completely up to the homeowner if they were confident enough in their training to proceed into the fight or to just keep their distance and contact Law Enforcement. Thank you, I look forward to more uploads and training advice in the future.

Early on in my Navy career on my first ship they blindfolded use and had us go from our bunks to the outside of the ship as training in case of a fire. I never thought I would see that type of drill for anything else, but I was wrong because I had that training again in combat training to learn how to use sound to give you a leg up on locating your targets.

Totally agree ( I was in the Army before ) but I would never go inside my own house knowing that my family is not there and without intel. I would have flatten the truck tires and call the police and give them the truck information. If you want to protect your house, have a well trained dog, video cameras everywhere and we should never forget that are houses have insurance so we can recover everything but I would never get inside my own house without full intel. The legal consequences is something that I would like to never face so I could end up in prison for the rest of my life. No way ! I think that weapons are to defend ourselves and to use them only as a last resort when my family's life and /or mine, are in indisputable danger. At that point, kill, kill and kill till you are free of any threat. No regrets. Enemies are targets not humans in my mine !

We Europeans need this form of home protection as lawless immigrants are pervasive. As a Frenchman in our open air prison cesspool of a country, our Monarch Macron is a ftm girly man married to a reverso grandmother. Depraved and degenerate is France today and makes me bemoan the once great French Swiss civ. Marxist empty suits and skirts ruined the West with their depraved decorate policies. We need the Navy Seals to save France and Switzerland from the tyrants and ghoul reverseos bringing FUBAR chaos and yet giving Europeans no self protection.

Hey Frogman that was a great video. Nice work and thanks for sharing the knowledge. On a side note that door to your gun room swings closed. If you pull 2 hinge pins (one at a time) and hammer a slight bend in them reinstall them and the door won’t swing like that it should stay wherever you open it to. If it still swings just a little more bend will do the trick!

Nice to see short stocking employed. That technique was really popular with Marines forced to clear structures with an A4. The RCO wasn't much use indoors and we didn't have piggybacking RMRs back then, so we just used the hotspot from our Surefire torches. SAS used the hotspot on the Maglites attached to the top of their MP5s during the 1980 Iranian Embassy clearing because the location of the light on top of their SMG made the sights inaccessible. And shortstocking has been taught to SWAT teams in the US since the 1990s, primarily as a way to wield 18 and 20 inch barrel shotguns indoors effectively. Both of these techniques are legit, but I have yet to see them used outside 3rd Bat 5th Marines.

I like to think that this idea could be thought about before deciding whether to enter a potential situation... "If you would not go to the location unarmed, do not go to it armed" If there is no need for you to be there i.e. someones life is in danger, then you dont have to be there... those lawers will try their best to make you look like the aggressor and will always try to find a way to make it seem like you had a choice to not have to engage whomever you potentially shot.
