Let me just say how much I admire and appreciate your efforts in describing all these gorgeous cottages you've visited so far. This one is spectacular: A perfect mix of industrial and rustic design. The owner did a great job of converting this mill into cottage, you can see she put her heart and soul into it, thinking of every single detail that fits so neatly as if it was there from the start. Thank you for sharing it, you two did a wonderful job. 😊
To quote Pop Larkin, that was quite “perfick”🤗! Yes, please do make more Kent videos. It’s such a lovely county. Thank you, Kirsten and Joerg, and thank you, Kirsten, for being such a trooper and filming while being under the weather. I hope you’re feeling better very soon. Until next time, take care🙂🙏🏻
Thanks so much! Hopefully we can return next year - it's quite a drive for us and Joerg took a couple of days off work so we wanted to film more but then I became ill and we couldn't which was so unfortunate.
Hermoso, siii me encantaría pudieran mostrar todo cuanto puedan, de esos maravillosos lugares, no me cansaré de darles las gracias por poder conocer a través de ustedes Inglaterra. ❤️❤️
You two travel to the most beautiful areas. It is amazing to me that you keep finding them. I have to say Kristen that you are persevering showing us all around with a cold (I have a bad cold now and all I want to do is drink tea and “ try” to sleep). You both have a very positive, kind attitude which shines through. You make me want to be nicer. 🥰
Dear Kirsten, I am sorry to hear that you were poorly, I hope you feel much better soon.❤ Thank you for showing us around. Claire did a fantastic job on the renovation. I love the cosy bedroom, and the copper wash hand basin. I think my favourite part is the garden and the upstairs staging with the view. Hello to your dear husband Joerg, and get well soon Kirsten. Love from Dublin, Ireland.❤
I like when people refurbish and repurpose buildings. I hate to see empty buildings falling apart. They did a great job on the old mill. It has such character. Its really very nice. And the secret garden is beautiful! Thats a surprise and a bonus. Hope youre feeling better!❤🌸🌺💐
🇬🇧 I am so privileged . I was brought up in Kent ,England. Yes, it is truly lovely. A Summer's evening with a pint in an ancient village pub garden. Perfect.
Hello from Alabama USA! This is great. Romantic, rustic, homey and relaxing. The owners put thought and care into the decor of this beautiful old windmill. I could live there. Thank you for another wonderful video, as always. 🤗❤️👍😄
I can hardly believe this village is real--it looks so much like a fairy tale, a fantasy world, a movie set! I agree with Jorg, you ought to move there. LOL
Its real, Benenden is sublime, Tenterden is busier but amazing and not on the tourist routes, Goudhurst would be a real honeypot but it is marred by traffic.
kristen plrase get to feeling better, this place i think has to be my favoret,I love light houses, and i know this is a windmill, but it truely speaks to my heart.Gourgous.
How lovely to see Benenden and those villages. I used to teach French at Benenden School and spent many Friday afternoons enjoying a well deserved drink with my colleagues at the local pub. There is a connection with the Three Chimneys and French Napoleonic prisonners held at Sissiinghurst who were allowed on walks up to this point.
If you live in this village, you must smile a lot that your cheeks hurt. 😊❤ it's so relaxing. No crowds, no skyscrapers, no cars beeping horns. It's utopia.
Wow, es ist unglaublich, wie durchdacht diese wunderbare Mühle ist. Industriell passt hervorragend und mit ein paar verspielten Details absolut gemütlich. Und der Garten... ich bin hin und weg 🥰
I love the squeaky floor it reminds me of when I go to the metropolitan museum where I live in New York. The sound of that floor Sounds like the floors in the museum. They squeak when you walk on them.
Hated to hear you were not feeling well Kirsten. I am sure Joerg took good care of you. I am from the New England area in the States, and it really does resemble Kent. I so enjoyed you two enjoying your baked goods. They looked large and yummy. Again another wonderful time spent with the two of you. You would be delightful friends. Take care and be well. ❣
This was lovely as I am from Kent originally but now reside in the north of the UK. I know those places in Kent which are beautiful. There are some lovely villages in Kent like Appledore, Penshurst, Chilham, Lenham, Pluckley etc for you to explore on your next adventure there! Wishing you well Kirsten. God bless 🙏❤️ xx
Loved this beautiful mill ❤ it’s been lovingly restored. Kent is such a lovely area. Would love to see more 😍 those meringues! ☺️😋❤ hope you feel better Kirsten ❤
That looked idyllic. When we lived in Rye we used to go Waitrose in Tenterden for our grocery shopping on Saturday mornings. We also treated ourselves to breakfast in the Lemon Tree cafe but that could be gone now 🤔. It was a lovely reminder for us so thank you for sharing another great video.
Hi kirsten and Joerg. You can see why Kent is called the garden of England, it is looks beautiful. I loved the attention to detail in the mill and of course the attention to detail from you showing us all these wonderful things and places. Thank You. Get well fast 😀❤xx
So absolutely Marvelous, The Converted Mill so charming Thank you so much Kirsten And Joerg for this insight of Village life in Kent. I loved the Secret Gardens Mary Canada 🇨🇦
The mill tour was really good, would love to come from the US and stay there. And the garden was just perfect, always liked the idea of a secret garden. Thank you both as always a lovely time traveling with you, even if it’s just a video!!
Dear Kirsten and Jörg, I live in California and I am originally from Germany. Every time I watch your beautiful videos, you make me want to move to England. My dream is to explore England the way you guys do, I have only ever been to Heathrow Airport, that's all I have seen of England on my way to the US. Thanks for sharing your wonderful trips with us!
I love, love the idea of this. It is very charming and gives you a glimpse of ancient buildings. I wish the great sails were still there and moving. 💕❤️❤️ Thanks you guys😊
Thank you! The owners are planning to replace the cap and sweeps but as mentioned the windmill was completely derelict and restoring everything is very very expensive.
I am thrilled! I do genealogy and my mother descends from thaTyndall family of Tenterden who founded Scituate, Massachusetts. She also has ancestors from Benenden. You're right about the houses in many coastal Massachusetts communities and on Martha's Vineyard were built copying the architecture in Kent. In Scituate, my ancestors from the 1600s are in the Men of Kent Cemetery that is a National Historic Sight. I hope you are recovered from your cold. Kent feels like an extension of the Netherlands to me. Maybe that's why Joerg loves it there.
Amazing! This Mill is absolutely epic! The lady who refurbished this Mill truly did an outstanding job! It is just so unique, rustic & very beautiful! I have never seen anything like it! The Gardens are also very beautiful! So lush, green & enchanting! What a place! This whole area of Kent looks very beautiful! No wonder Joerg loves it there! That wee Bakery, with all of the goodies there, looked scrumptious! Wow! That had to be the biggest meringue ever!! Huge! It looked like a meal in itself! I also really loved the wee choo choo train there near the end! I really love those old steam trains. I would love to ride on one of them very often! I'm so glad to hear that you are planning to return for more adventures in this wonderful area. So looking forward to that! Thank you both for sharing another delightful experience!🚂
@@thewealduk9802 Thank you! I will remember that! However, I will need to get over to England first, a place I truly love. One of the most beautiful Countries on earth! So, when I do get there, these beautiful Gardens will be one of the first places on my list to visit! Blessings to you!🌞
Six years of renovation, such a wonderful labor of love. The wooden gears really do add to the feeling of age for that place. I enjoy tagging along wherever you go, I would like to see more of Kent, maybe one day we’ll see the two of you there on Escape to The Country, that would be fun. You guys have a wonderful weekend.
Very interesting B&B with that secret door to the downstairs. Very lovely gardens, so peaceful and green. That bakery window really called the both of you to come in and indulge in pastries! Seems like a great place to unwind and enjoy the weekend.
Kirsten, what an amazing job Claire has done in sourcing materials, old and new, to make this mill renovation beautiful. It is cosy, as you say, but full of space and light. I like the lack of clutter, but there are still so many interesting things to look at in the building. The garden and town and surrounding areas were lovely as well. I don't know how you tear yourselves away from some of these locations!
Kirsten I do hope you are feeling so much better💝 You did as always, though, such a lovely work of art showing us around. The mill was so homey, welcoming and had so many special features and the secret garden was a little spot of loveliness. I must say, though, that your 💞meringue stole my heart. My Nana used to make the most delicious Meringues and I have never tasted better but yours so reminded me of hers. Blessings to you both.
Again ,a magical visit .Hope you are better ,Kirsten. What a fabulous place ,loved the kitchen cupboards all the wood ,small details you showed us,like the wonderful bathroom, the EAU de Nile colour bath( maybe not haha),the decking and the secret garden.Thank for the visit to Tenterden, beautiful village. Those huge salmon/orange roses! And didn't Jörg enjoy his lemon bun!!!❤❤❤
On the ARD room tour video, there is another video of old windmill (built in 1883) conversion to a home in Saxony. Also, a very interesting video. They have also built an extension to the windmill so that the couple can move into the extension when they can no longer climb the stairs.
Ahh you were filming just a few miles from us yes it is lovely in most parts of Kent lovely old buildings and countryside that's why it's called the garden of England our house is over 400 yrs old it's just the heavy traffic that spoils the effect but needs must in the modern world . Hope you feel better soon thanks for another great video xx 😘 ❤️
You are right! Very romantic, lots of history with rustic charm! Loved the baskets and the cozy enclosed gardens with the waddle fence. The food looked delicious! Hope you’re feeling well! Thanks for sharing your story! As for the 🧁 1 of each! ❤ 🧺 🍮 🪴☕️🌸
I hope you are feeling better now Kirsten :) you are definitely selling it to us I love it so many treasures to look at and so functional well done to the owners on restoration :) kept some of the original features too. You would love a channel I watch for real estate Simon at Unique Property then as he does show some period homes. This one reminds me of a grade 2 listed home he showed recently. It also reminds me of 'Jonathan Creek' windmill only more cleaner ;) What a lovely place and that garden is stunning. I don't blame you for loving Tenterden it is picturesque and full of life and history without being overly touristy. If you don't mind a return I am most of us don't mind a visit or a few of them. I don't usually go that far but maybe you have changed my mind.
After watching many of your videos, I think I trust you to show us marvelous places and treasures and I would watch anything you cared to film. (I hope you're feeling better, Kirsten!)
Such a timeless and charming Mill ❤️! I absolutely love all the characterful accents! My favorite rooms are the bathroom, outside deck and secret garden 🪴! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible experience with us ❤️
Hi, Kirsten! LOVE you guys! I have to tell you the COOLEST story... After enjoying your Bishop's Castle video, I ordered a few Poetry Pills. Then, one of the paintings from Jenny Jones kept living on in my mind... It was one of the paintings of one of the women on the wall in her studio. So, I emailed her and asked if she sold a print of it. She said she didn't, but she took a picture of it and emailed it to me! I printed it out to put it in my journal! Then, I told her I was moving to Ireland in the Fall, but spending a week in the UK before heading over to Scotland for three months, and she sent me the link to her Airbnb! I checked it out and it's gorgeous! I'll definitely make my way down there one weekend... I told her my connection to her was through you and Joerg and she she said you guys were lovely (no surprise). What a cool world we live in when we have nice RU-vid creators like you and Joerg! I saw it all the time -- "Thank you for your artistry." But, this time, I have even more to thank you for! Hugs to you and Joerg!
Kirsten and Joerg. Beautiful floors and timber frame. Love the way they utilize antique fixtures. It is really cool that they retained the wooden machinery gears. I really like the bird house on the small building. Thank you for finding this wonderful place to share with us. Cheers Ron and Dovie
I also am so in love with these village's, and the mill house was so unique. The floors and exposed beams, beautiful. Thank you for sharing Kristen & Joerg
👋 KnJ, Oh dear Kirsten, honey bunny, just get better. I know you will❤ Well…. You have done it AGAIN. I am in tears all the way through😊😊😊. There is just “ something “ in the way this all moves me. Humm?? Sounds a little like a BEATLES song. The Town, the churches… the houses! AND THE ROSES! I can smell them all the way here. What a clever and unique place. I LOVED IT. The owner has taken GREAT great care to preserve, LOVE, and appreciate all the organic nature of this Mill. That gives me such respect for the owners and The stories it has in its BONES! I am loving Kent and would love to see more of it. There’s a feeling there of…… A quiet country picnic and serenity. A sort of peace of mind energy, yes?? The weekend treats made my mouth water( OH THE LEMON BUN!!! Yum) as I am trying to get off sugar(😳😬😬😜☺️☺️😬) . All those faces I am experiencing as I continue this.😊 Hope you are feeling better by now and thx so much for all your hard work even when you are feeling poorly. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
I hope you're feeling better Kirsten! The old mill is so charming and looks so comfortable. The villages you visited were lovely, and I agree that the houses that have the wood clapboard siding are very much a style very popular in New England.
Dear Kirsten and Joerg, my husband and I just ended watching this delightful video with big smiles on our faces!! How fascinating to see how the windmill was restored so beautifully over 6 years! I loved the use of the mirror on the main floor enhancing more light into the room! The towns you visited in the area are so charming.. especially the secret garden.. and yes.. it does look like New England!! Best wishes to feel Better very soon Kirsten.. hopefully that lovely meringue helped.. yummy! Safe travels home.. would love to see more of Kent someday!! ❤
So glad you loved it too - everything was so immaculate and exceeded our expectations! We hope you had a lovely 4th of July - ours was quite important here too as we had general elections. Sending you love.
Thank you!! We did have a very nice 4th.. and I was watching on the news about your elections! Always very interesting to both Bill and to me! Sending you love as well and hoping you’re feeling tip top very soon Kirsten! ❤
Wow another great video I can’t believe that places like this still exist I totally agree with Jorge I would love to live in that village. Take care my little cherubs and keep up the great work.
Charming and cozy... lovely!!! It is always your style of arranging things that offer a unique journey to your viewers. I LOVE IT. THANK YOU AGAIN. There is a quiet flow of time that touches my soul. Thank you. Be Well. 😊😊😊
I could definitely live there, absolutely lovely. I hope you both have a safe and well July 4th ( I don't know if yall celebrate it) it will be my birthday but I don't celebrate it. Love your videos, from Douglas Georgia, USA ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Beautiful! Nothing like wood … for me it wraps me in its arms and my blood pressure lowers immediately. What a wonderful decorated homely feel. 💕 Kirsten hoping you recover quickly. As usual a smashing job.
Aww lol, it's not really a vacation for us - because I do RU-vid full time it means that we constantly work to create these videos. We know that it looks easy but I'm afraid it's not.
Hi Kirstin! Beautiful video ❤️ someone may have already mentioned it in comments.. but Lydia Millen had also recently stayed at this Windmill cottage. She loved it too.. but may have been a bit to “Spidery” for her 😉 Hope you had a great stay!! Thanks for sharing your awesome vlogs ❤️❤️
@@KirstenJoerg Oh..that good news 😁 Such a beautiful place.. loved seeing your vlog as always. You are both so inspiring ❤️ thank you for replying ☺️❤️
Lovely, I always fancied living in a windmill after watching the tv series , Jonathan Creek, as he lived in one. The owner has done a great job restoring it.
