I called my senator 2 days ago. They had no idea the amendments to the Lacey act were in the bill, and promised to have someone research it and present the information to the senator
I don’t like getting political because it’s a sensitive subject for many people, but the government works for us, not the other way around. Sometimes they need a reminder of that
I mean I get why they feel they have to do what they do but they are going about it the wrong way. Rescues and conservations should be protected against this act.
I agree This is just like us(as a capitalist society) if you aren't buying daily, its a problem. It's like "people don't like you to be comfortable with what you, already have, and that's fine!!" They need to compromise, if you can't don't, fight it!! Like hippos, there's only 500 hundred left. Gorillas,200-300 left used to be thousands in the 80s. But I understand the way they want it to be for rest of those who aren't informed about the situation
I’ve donated to USARK FL and wrote both of my senators. I hope everyone does this. PLEASE, even if you don’t own a reptile, do this! I only have 2 Ball Pythons but they mean the world to me. One came from Bob Bledsoe in California and the other from KINOVA. If this passes, I wouldn’t be able to buy my third one, which I plan to do soon. Please help all these amazing reptile channels we watch!!! 🐊❤️🐊
From my understanding it’s not just reptiles but pretty much all exotics which includes species of mammals, birds, fish, etc. I can understand limiting imports (not banning), but the interstate stuff is BS. I don’t understand adding these amendments into an Act that is meant to strengthen the economy. I’ve written to both my senators. These amendments also hurt conservation projects especially since large facilities like zoos rely on smaller facilities for new bloodlines and other research aspects. Stops people from moving states too which hurts states’ economies.
I’ve been a member of USARK for awhile now and doing all I can to fight this. But we all need to do our part the more they hear from us the better. We need to educate them about how this is going to effect millions and what an overreach of power it is. I personally love how they slide it into another bill that has nothing to do with animals and that bill is not bad and could actually do some good. But this sneaky attitude and overreach of power is not ok and we need to fight this with everything we can. So please do your part 🙏🏼
Hi Kyle and Ryan, I heard about this from various youtubers, and i had already emailed both my senators here in New Jersey, I hope I did enough, love what u guys do with crocodilians/snakes and other animals, love the new croc/gator enclosures
Honestly this is disgusting. People lively hoods thrown out the window cause these prices can't be arsed to sit down with animal lovers and come up with something that helps everyone.
Its ridiculous how these politicians will pass stuff like this but have no idea the damage it does. Theyre going to pat themselves on the back never even thinking that theyll hurt the people doong actual conservation work. Im surprised you cant even get some kind of license or permit to circumvent these laws for conservation work.
This whole thing is ridiculous... ppl that make these rules are the ones that just sit behind the desks and write all this bs. They need to get out onto the field and really see wtf is going on outside to get educational information on all the good ppl are doing to help save certin animals. ❤
And what about all the zoos and the United States would they still be allowed to keep or do they have to get rid of them to because if everybody else has to they should too
it almost seems like there needs to be a part B to that so for zoos and conservationist , those rules wouldn’t apply to them. I understand having rules for the every day Citizen but maybe for places like Primitive Predators, Gatorland , chandlers wildlife etc..they could still transfer these animals because it’s for education and conservation purposes Could this possibly be option?
Somehow get in touch with Terri Irwin. Can you imagine how she and her family could help? Maybe these ppl should worry more about the illegal smuggling of animals. Good luck everyone! #SteveIrwinWildlifeWarrior
Let's see how it goes. Best case you don't have to prove anything. The language could mean all current animals bred and imported could be whitelisted, meaning no different except for new species.
ALL pet owners, not just those of us with reptiles, need to be aware and afraid of this amendment. Technically this law could stop 4H kids from hauling across state lines to show their livestock! Your pet is ill and the nearest vet is only 10 minutes away BUT across the state line....you could be a felon! I live in Canada but this is still of great concern to me. It gives fish and wildlife far too much power.
This is very real, this amendment would make it a federal felony to transport non native species across state lines (the current penalty for this crime is up to a $20k fine and/or 5 years in prison) goldfish are native to China and can become an invasive species in much of the US. I think they’d be put on the “white list” but it’s entirely possible they could not be.
@@PrimitivePredators I don't think you fully read and properly interpreted the language. Presumably, all current species imported and bred would be whitelisted. I guess i could be wrong but this new language applies to all new species after 2021.
