This Could Have Ended BADLY | KLX351 Secondary Throttle Blade Removal 

Just FYI for your viewers who are contemplating removing their secondary throttle plates, (STP): if you have already gone big bore, by all means yank that thing and enjoy, but: if your bike is still a 250, the STP is NOT the evil, power sucking contraption some would like you to believe. In fact at stock displacement, you probably want it there. The STP increases the intake tract velocity while the engine is in a low rpm condition allowing more, not less, air/fuel mixture to arrive in your cylinder before the intake valve closes and the computer moves it out of the way once the RPMs start to come up to balance shit out. On a big bore, the physical volume of the cylinder is obviously larger causing a greater condition of vacuum while the valve is open so anything in the way will eat a little bit of initial umpf, but at stock size, unless you're adding a turbo, velocity is more important than lack of restriction just off idle. If you are seriously mechanically inclined, and I'm talking to you machinists and fabricators, (not engineers, 😁) you can give the leading edge of the STP that moves in towards the engine and the trailing edge that moves out a slight break and polish to ever-so-slightly increase the intended effect, but honestly, you have a fun little putt-putt, not a arm socket dislocator so it's probably not worth the effort. Experiment if you like, but that's the reason for the STP and the clean air Nazis didn't do it this time.

Way to fast for that much traffic. Slow down and enjoy the ride. You don't have enough experience to ride like that. Plus you could have gotten fuel on your rear tire or oil at the gas station.

I just did my compression test on my klx 250 with 12000 miles i used a brand new conpression tester yesterday and it cam out at 160 psi thanks lucas full synthetic :)

Recently went up a road, came back down an hour later at 60mph around a corner I hit all the time and hit a oil spot and did the same thing you did. A guy in a Toyota wheeler lost his drain bolt, and lost all his oil on that corner. Always gotta be careful and geared go be ready to go down

Sorry to say, but that "near high side" would have been completely your own fault. The way you move through traffic is eventually going to be your downfall. I'm not having a go at you...just chill on the road a tad.

Your bike is set up extremely well, you should take it off road more often. I would love to see the local trails in your area.

Why is it there in the first place?

I'll definitely be doing this mod soon. That was a close call too! Always be patient while riding, even if you're doing stunts or going fast, if that makes sense. I can get to the Ballance point in 1st gear all stock but you have to shift into 2nd right away to keep it up and so that it's not at 8k. Can't wait to do a few mods and see the outcome. Fun bikes overall. I don't even have my title yet and I just dropped $500 on mods. With just a slip on, throttle blade removed, and snorkel removed do you think I'll need the fuel controller?

I tried to get this puppy out on my KLX300SM without removing the throttle body and could not do it. So I removed the throttle body and once I had it out I was able to easily remove the screw holding the plate. You have to remove the tank, several hoses and connectors and the injector with one screw and the body comes out of the top area. Reinstall is not too bad but I ran out of light so back at it tomorrow and will update this thread with my thought on how I like it. I did notice some grime in the body so I cleaned it up. After 2000 miles I was a bit surprised to see it in there. PS no need to remove those green clips. Just remove the one screw holding the injector to the body. Hopefully this is worth it because it is not easy especially with my eyes.

Probably have fuel dripping out one of those evap hoses

You seem like you do a lot of pavement. Have you ever considered getting supermoto rims for the klx? I've been playing around with the idea of doing it to mine since I also do a lot of pavement.

i would blame the slide on the knobbies and little else , that is the exact reason I cringe at the thought of knobbies on pavement. so just remember knobbies bad on street good on dirt , and little else.

a salty rider could wheelie that thing all the way to california if he wanted , its you not the bike unable to wheelie --no offense intended at all, don't be too eager to wheelie, along with that skill comes plenty of road rash , pulled tendons and ligaments (if your lucky) and god knows what else .
