Bucketlist Series Episode 2 takes us to Hollinwell Golf Club in Nottingham UK. Rated no.19 in the England Top 100 Golf courses. One of my most turbulent rounds on record, but one I'll never forget! Follow me on Socials: @BogeyGolfUK
Hi Dennis. We are a French/Gabonese family living in Germany...and we are a golfing family (my wife with HCP 5, me with HCP+4,, both newly improved last weekend) and our 7 children between 5 and 16 years old). We would like to say together that your channel is one of our top 5 golf channels, e.g. alongside your friends from Up&Down Golf. You radiate exactly what golf means: fun in one of the most beautiful hobbies in the world, sharing the pain and joy of the game, enjoying nature. And this, btw., also a kind of heartwarming entertainment that simply conveys the feeling of friendship. As a family, we always watch your channel together in the living room in front of the TV. And we are never disappointed! Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Your attitude is what keeps me coming back to watch. Even when you’re not playing your best, you’re still so positive. Would love to play a round with you to keep my spirits up when I’m having a shocker!!
He’s back, you’ve been missed! No golfer wants or plans for it, but these rounds and periods of play are part of every golfer’s journey. Great content always.
Great attitude shown today, Dennis! I've been told Hollinwell is incredible, but will beat you up! So I don't think you are alone in taking a battering!
I root for you. And then you put those sound effects and images in there and I find myself laughing. You’re such a good sport. You asked if it’s focus or concentration? It’s learning how to play. Golf is so much between our ears. It’s not just, hit this club that far. The grass, the lie, the slope, the wind, our tendencies. We have to learn those things and practice them. You are improving and learning. No doubt that magical round where you put it all together will come.
Great video as always Dennis. You bring the best attitude to the course and we viewers love it. Keep up the great work. Hope you get the chance to give the Beth Paige black course a go sometime in the near future. 👍
Good video mate keep them coming. It happens to all of us sometimes every round is different. Out of all the channels i watch on here yours is one of my favourites.
Mate, as always, great video, I feel you, being beaten up by a course you've always wanted to play is tough, but love your attitude and how you keep grinding. Looking forward to more
Finally got round to watching this mate. What a place looked beautiful. I felt your pain all the way round mate. Well done for getting across the line. Head up go again brother 👊👊
Winter’s over Dennis, if you haven’t gotta go over something put the loft away and just bump it down there! Great to see you back with your wide smile and infectious attitude. 😊
Tough watch and I really felt for you but you kept smiling. I am in the middle of a terrible run of form at the moment but I am hoping that as the weather improves my golf will as well.
I can relate. Even more frustrating for me is I use to be a 14 handicap and now no matter what I do I'm around a 20. Still love the game and just try to temper my expectations. Love your channel.
Great video as ever mate, we the viewers love watching a relatable golfer with such a positive approach. As someone who just this weekend struggled my way round a new course on a lads trip all I can say is I've taken the driver back out of my bag and slowed everything down to work on centre face contact. Fingers crossed this helps me when I'm back at my home turf this weekend! We got this!
Stumbled across your channel and think it's really relatable. I'm a high handicapper from the east mids so understand how little you can play through winter and the recent wet weather! Keep plugging away, lots of us are in the same boat!
Another great vid Dennis - lots of good shots in there buddy and your positivity is awesome. Played my first nine of the year last week with the ball plugging in the fairway every time (as if my golf wasn’t bad enough already!). Uk golf is a challenge at the moment
Absolutely stunning video! The Hollinwell Golf Club really looks like a golfer’s paradise. I’m blown away by the breathtaking scenery and the challenging layout you showcased. It’s clear you had a blast, despite the tricky moments with the putts and drives. Thanks for sharing such an inspiring round-makes me want to hit the links right now! Keep up the fantastic content!
Loving your channel. Not easy playing such difficult courses as a high handicap. Some things that might help you. Ball striking let your hands naturally move your body as you swing the club. To me you seam like your thinking about moving your body yourself as a separate thought. This will lead to swaying and poor contact. Judging chip and putt distance. Walk upto the hole and feel the green as you walk. Imagine you were underarm throwing the ball and think how much power you’d need. Short putts. Buy a mallet head putter. The blade putter you’re using is the most unforgiving type. A mallet head will help you hit the middle more consistently and help with your distance control. Good luck will be great watching you improve.
Tough round mate but a tonne of unfortunate bounces too. Blocking your driver leaving your hands late and behind. Then the duck hook comes from forcing the hands at impact even when they are late. I'm no pro and have frustrating rounds like everyone else but I love your perseverance and courage to post such a tough round. It will be great to have this footage to look back on when you are single digit. I watched a recent video lesson for Charles Barkley the other day, he is just killing it now, so so good in his ball striking. A few small fundamental tweaks and you will be striping it consistently. Keep grinding.
Wow wow what a course! Stunning. Reminds me a bit of The Berkshire. Btw your "tickle" Driver swing looks infinitely nicer and more natural than your full power swing
I almost broke 100 the other day (scored 101) so I tried to play again the following day to try and finally hit this milestone. Ended up forgetting how to hit my irons and shanked every shot. Scored 136. I was bamboozled, I want(ed) to quit. It has been two weeks since I scored 136 and I am still shanking everything. I am not quitting. I am going to figure this out. You got this Dennis.
Love your videos Dennis, keep them coming. I stayed with you to the end, loved the bunker shot on the last and that tee shot on the par 3 with the hybrid was a great highlight. Looked like a great day and a good course.
Ahh man, I really felt bad for ya out there. Put it in the past and learn from it. Every time we go out we gather information. It's not wasted. Upwards and onwards!
Dennis, I feel your pain, my last few rounds have been terrible, like you I was hoping springtime would improve my game, but hey ho it is what it is😀 That bunker shot on the 18th though, that’ll keep you coming back. 👏👏👏
I have friends who are Members at Notts so I’m fortunate to play it several times a year. A beautiful course that plays very fair, unless you go into that pink stuff (heather) then it can be a very long day…good luck Dennis🤞🏻 3OffTheTee guys play there as Notts is their home club.
@@BogeyGolfUK Funnily enough Michael used to be Pro at one of my clubs (Keighley Golf Club) possibly twenty years ago. Interesting fact that Notts don’t have any Lady Members 😳 the Ladies that use the course rent the use of it, they have their own clubhouse (behind the 4th tee) on site too😉
Love your vids Dennis. I’m nowhere near good enough to give golf lessons but some huge divots on those chunks. Maybe coming down too steeply today? You’ll be back fella
Atleast the outfit was on point mate. Love the bogey golf vids, keep it up. Also, I see people saying get a lesson.. I highly recommend it too. I have been playing a lot the last 6 months and got to a 22 handicap. Then I got a lesson a month back and it gave me some really simple things to work on, now I’m a 16 and trending down! Could be a fun video idea too (if they let ya film it).
Been watching your videos for a while now mate, you do truly have the most patience of any high hindicap golfer i have ever seen lol. This is not a dig or an insult but have you ever had lessons? I play off 19 so im no pro, just seems maybe a simple tweak of your game and you could totally murder some courses. Keep it up brother 💪💪💪
@@BogeyGolfUK ok, yea if only we had a few more hours in the day haha. Keep grinding my dude! If you're ever around west London let me know, we have some great little courses 💪💪
Dennis mate, love the channel and your attitude like everyone comments on. You've got to stop taking long irons out of the proper rubbish though mate and just take some medicine!! (Coming from a proverbial hero shot attempter so feel free to say sod off!)
What a beautiful course! I think Par 3s are more difficult than 5s, honestly. So little margin for error and one mistake ends up a double or worse on a Par 3. Good job on a hard course!
its the guy in the clubhouses reaction that killed me off ngl ahahhah good round thought Hollinwell is tough! i play it every month because my mates a member and its a brutal back nine with the wind going too! If you ever fancy a round at Sherwood Forest just HMU dennis
I’ve been playing the same course for a while and just about scored par on every hole but never at the same time 🤔🤔them odd birdies keep me returning for more punishment 😂😂
Great attitude but you gotta get that driver out of your hand buddy. You smashed that 4 hybrid and 5 iron. Use those off the tee and you’ll be automatically decrease the stroke count by 1 to 2 per hole. Best of luck!!
20:00 rotation is the least of your worries tbf… the massively steep, over the top and early extending is the main issue. If you genuienly want to get better lessons would be a good investment.
I did this for a while but not hitting driver limits my potential. I think it would’ve been sensible to put it away in this round after losing so many to the right though
Keep at it. You are athletic and have a lot of potential. Hope you are getting help with your swing. I see some correctable issues…how do I know? I have some of them.
Hey Dennis. I’ve been with you from the start. Please get lessons. 😂 Not being rude but you’d really enjoy your golf more if you start to improve. I know I did. I hated playing good courses and all I was worried about was not playing good and embarrassing myself
@@BogeyGolfUK I’m not being rude or anything pal. Just find an hour each month and start getting or confident in your ability. You have it all there you just need som feedback from a pro. Good luck for the coming season I’ll be watching
you certainly enjoy your golf. for me you have a lovely swing you just need to improve your strike. and be more positive dammit. you can hold 15ft putts dont think about 3 putting. Great content i look forward to continue following your progress
oof, you look as tho you're standing up a little, at the top of your bkswing, which is a reason you were hitting a lot of.... less than desirable shots.
No offense, but what is so special about this course ? Seems pretty bad shape to me, my local course seems more high end than this?! /watch?v=PjpilQ_Ruug&t=193s
