Hearing Alex share this story several times is actually one of the things that inspired me to create this channel. Perhaps the greatest car story ever told.

The crazy trick that got me out of a speeding ticket was not stopping.

Sooo.... Basically, the reason Roy got away with all but one minor ticket is because he was in the know on a private meme. Doesn't get much better than that

It would be my luck that as soon as I say I’ve got LOTS of evidence the judge replies with. Okay let’s see what you got.

I took a folder with like 300 papers in it to court and the prosecutor asked if that was my evidence. I said yes. Dismissed.. I didn't even know then.. but now I do it everytime...

This still works in New York. Everyone knows you fight it like it's a God given right in NY. So just after covid started, I got popped with loud mufflers, no inspection, and something else illegal. I mailed back counteroffers twice, rejecting a settlement. Showed up in court 2 years later (this past fall) got it all dropped and all I owed the court is a court fee, that the judge said while looking at me "we don't chase you down for this anymore because of covid, do you want to pay this tonight or later?" I said "Later sir" Walked out and haven't seen a bill. Here it is 2023 and that was Summer of 2020 in Wayne County NY.

I got off the hook from a ticket being pulled over going 110mph in a 55...

i legit thought, i have a looot of evidence, was some kind of codeword. Like if the judge was caught with his mistress by the cop and a deal was made when someone in court says, a looot of evidence, he goes spot free.

No joke I think VinWiki is why I got out of losing my license. I was doing 83 in a 55 (because yknow... logic) and got pulled over as I was pulling into my work. I turned interior lights on, keys on the dash, hands on the wheel. When I dealt with the officer I was polite, apologetic "I don't normally drive like this truthfully I'm just running late to work. I know it's no excuse but I didn't want to lose my job, etc. etc." and it was all a fucking lie. I regularly broke the speed limit by easily 20mph just going around town, hell I still do on quite a few occasions and overall just have a serious lead foot, I didn't care what I said just I knew I couldn't get a ticket and I couldn't risk jail time/a ticket (where I live abides by the rules that 30+ the posted speed limit is absolutely a ticket if not an arrest). The officer comes back to my window, hands me my license and no joke; I cannot make this shit up informs me that I am getting a verbal warning as I have a clean record however the next infraction WILL be a ticket (like I'm going to get another one, you only caught me because you were sitting in the parking lot of a private business where no one can see you which is illegal in my state). Legitimately think that VinWiki's tips about handling cops had a major affect on this situation.

Italian Police livery? Was is a different car from the one in the video? This one has Germany painted all over it: flags, words (Polizei), and so on.

Translation: "Your Honor, I've got shit."

How he didn't immediately tow that vehicle, I'll never know. You got a unicorn to pull you over.

I bought my e39 M5 in 06 because of his gumball videos. A 2000 e39, lemans blue flawless car with very low miles when I bought it and used as my daily driver into Raleigh, NC for years. One day this nut in a black e39 M5 comes up from behind, obviously goading me into a run on the sparsely populated evening freeway. After ignoring him a few times, and only being able to see white cufflinks and a Cheshire smile behind the smoked windows, I bit and took off. We cruised about 3 miles at high speed then he pealed off Harrison Ave with a wave. My license plate was "/DEV/M5", his license plate: "ALEXROY". I cannot tell you how tickled I was that day, my wife thought I was nuts.

That was a damn good story. There is an art to telling a story and this was a masterpiece. For those who pick out holes in it, just relax and enjoy. Whether it’s embellished or completely fictional it doesn’t matter. Star Wars and Indiana Jones weren’t real but I enjoyed both of them.

You know what will REALLY get you out of a ticket? Some good "countermeasures" for LIDAR and a really good radar detector! I was doing about 140 mph on an empty stretch of the Interstate and a Trooper hit me with laser and all my gear starts screaming at me, I did my "usual routine" and the cop even "chased after me" for a bit! A pretty funny thing happened after that... The 1st and really the only "rule" of countermeasures, don't be a dumb ass and do what's called "jam the gun", where you leave the jammer on and speed past the cop... As soon as you get "hit" and the warnings go off DON'T touch the brake pedal, downshift like mad and yank the E-brake so the tail lights don't come on OR wire the brake lights on a kill switch so you can slow down to the speed limit without the tail lights "admitting your guilt" and shut the countermeasures OFF wellll before you pass the cop. I did all that and I finally "let him" tag me doing the speed limit. I finally see him too, hiding on an overpass. Then I see him flip his lights on and come FLYING down the on ramp to catch up to me as I'm traveling in the righthand lane, only thing is... As he gets close, he goes left into the MIDDLE lane flying up right beside me?! Soon as I look over at him he then yells at me (with our windows up) and I clearly see him fuming as he's mouthing the words "SLOW THE FUUUUUCK DOOOOWN!" and then he sped off... 🤣😇

I got out of my first speeding ticket back in high school because the officer that pulled me over asked "Do you know how fast you were going?" And I looked down at the speedometer and said "About 50" (this was in a 25 or 30 zone a mile from my school). And after he took my info and came back he said "I appreciate your honesty, slow down and have a nice day." It doesn't really work anymore with tickets in the system, but my friend who was in the car was dying.

Easiest way to drive fast and never get caught: Pick one highway as your daily communter. Memorize every speed trap, memorize every undercover car. Speed on parts of the highway with clear visibility and no shoulders. Know your roads and you'll never get caught, no matter what speed you go.

Honestly there should be some way to fight tickets during a traffic stop. Granted officer has say but there’s been so many people I know and myself included that got tickets for something that wasn’t even right or the cop should have even pulled me over for. And like for me, I was on my way home from Texas back in January and I was passing through Louisiana, and cop pulled me over and gave me a ticket for 83 in a 70. BUT I had my cruise control on set at 75, and I went to pass the car in front of me because this car was swerving, and a Toyota Camry came flying by me. Doing like 90-100. We came around a blind corner, there was a semi truck with a trailer, then the red SUV, then me. The cop radared me IN BETWEEN the semi trailer AND the red SUV, I looked down as I was passing and I was only doing 76. Literally not even 5 seconds later the state trooper was already on the highway with lights on, got behind me so I thought that he got a call, and at this time I was literally right next to the semi trailer, this is a 2 lane highway, so he’s behind me with lights on, when he couldn’t accelerate anymore because I was in his way, I sped up to get in front of the semi and I got over to let him pass, the fucking cop got behind me again so he was pulling ME over like, for what? I didn’t do anything. And so we pull over he told me I was doing 83 mph, I was pissed at this point because I had no other option and first thing came out of my mouth was "dude that fucking Camry passed me going way FASTER." He said okay went back to his car, came back 2 mins later with a ticket for 83 mph in a 70 mph. So I was like "really? You’re giving me a ticket for 83 in a 70 and I was doing 75 and the truck was on cruise control, but I sped up to get out of YOUR way so you can go around me because you might have a call. So when was I doing 83?." He said "yep. And when I was behind you with my lights on." So I said "fine you know what? Whatever, fuck off. Can’t win this battle on the side of the road." And I can’t go all the way back to Louisiana to go to a court date because I live in Florida and I was only in Texas to scout out a future place of living. I couldn’t afford to drive all the way back or fly there for that matter. Fucking bullshit, and the last ticket I had was literally about to fall off and take away the points on my license that had accumulated in less than 6 months. Like dude come on, you see that I haven’t done anything wrong, in a long time, nor given a ticket and you’re not going to let the ONLY FLORIDIAN in that entire group of cars from Texas, Louisiana, Miss., etc. thanks dude, you’re a really good cop. The fuck outta here.

I watched your vids; hit or miss; until about a year ago. Not sure of the orig date of the vid, but it was about finding stolen Lambo's. Since then, I'll sit for about an hour or two/wk catching up. Most of the vlog style posts get boring really quick but yours; no matter the length; they seem to be cut short. They're interesting, informative, and at time very amusing. OK, so much for padding your ego. Here's my question that led me to comment. I saw a vid about your CL55 that you used in the Cannonball on another channel a few days ago while researching different suspension designs, engine mods, transaxles, electronics for my project car. It just occurred to me that; even though you had 2 extra 22 gal fuel cells; those did not appear to have a separate fill point for refueling. How were those topped off? It showed the F.T.P's; which are located on the top of each cell; are plumbed into the filler neck. You stated they're used to replenish the factory tank while en-route, but are those pumps reversible, i.e. pumping fuel back into the tanks back thru the filler neck during the fuel stop? If so, how was that accomplished since they are above the neck and the handles are equipped with fuel sensing shut off several inches below the neck opening? How were you able to vent the vapors out of the car during refueling w/o opening the trunk to draw suspicion? Are those fuel cells baffled or foam filled to prevent sloshing during cornering? Finally; with 2 separate F.T.P's, how were you able to keep the levels in both tanks the same during the run? are those set up in parallel or in series? I know a lot of creators hope they get syndicated on TV/Cable, but in your case I hope not. Being forced to fit most of your or your guests experiences into a restricted time slot would kill the quality not to mention the way the networks want to aire only stories or interviews that can be sensationalized or are controversial. Keep up what you're doing here. All of us saw what happened with Roadkill; being taken over and controlled by MotortrendTV; forcing them to stop airing their vids on here w/o a Motortrend sub. It alienated a lot of subscribers and even restricted what they could post of their own private content.

My crazy trick is to drive reasonably. Within 5 over. Wear seatbelt and make sure I don’t have burned out lights. I generally don’t get pulled over.

The trick is there was a well known druggie that all the new cops got sent to, as she’d call the police around once a month, thinking her drugs got stolen. She’d tell the officer she had a “lot of evidence.” The judge knew about this lady and the cops. Him saying this line and waving his hand like she did told the judge he was “in the club,” if you will. The judge dismissed all the tickets under that premise.

This has to be the greatest inside joke of all time.

I spent 11 years in the Air Force working on radar. I wasn't specifically trained on doppler effect radar but the theory is very straightforward. I would bring a spectrum analyzer and an oscilloscope and any other crap I could pile on a cart and launch into a two hour lecture on how the radar works and how it couldn't have tracked my vehicle and what kind of environmental effects could impact the track etc. etc. until the judge just wants me out of there. "lots of evidence"

Thank god Alex decided to do the side quest!

I'm gonna try this on the next NYS trooper who pulls me over and see if they laugh with me and be like "alright, slow down, I'll give you a warning just for that."
