Well, that is a day to remember on a stream that I’m familiar with. Glad you saved a few because I’m headed up in a couple weeks. Great video as always
I have the same wood frame fish net as yours and the fish I have been catching are too big for the net,so I only get to use it once in a while. Last season here in Vermont I got a nice 21 in brown that was fat and 5 pounds,I landed another 20+’brown last season but just as I landed the brown it’s teeth cut the line so I didn’t get to pick it up before it found the water . So far this season I have got a massive 24’ Brown and a 19’ brown and another 14’ brown trout. I have also got a lot of brook trout, over 100,and 2 big rainbows and the biggest brook trout I have ever got which was 16’. In all my years of fishing I have never got a record sized brook trout or rainbow in one spot in one day inside 2 hours. I keep one of the 3 biggest fish’s for the three species each year to eat so I keep the biggest brown then rainbow and 5 big brook trout to eat. So in one day I got the 24 in brown then the 16’ rainbow and the 15’ brook trout and release. The rest for the while season till next year. Great fishing in Vermont this year compared to many bad ones in the past. I will squeeze the hook barn so I can make sure they stay alive after freeing them.
Lived (southern tier) and fished in NY state for 4 years now and never caught anything nearly as good (including numerous guided trips on the WB). Not to mention that you had several fish of a lifetime in one day. Really love the video but I have to admit, it leaves a salty feeling😂. Congratulations on those great fish
Well man first and foremost never fish another stream ever again 😅. I saw a comment about your lack of subs. Unfortunately good content doesn’t all break through at a high rate. An overwhelming majority of RU-vid channels get there subscriber base from 1 single lucky video that blows up. Then it’s off to the races! Keep doing your thing man, enjoyed this video!
Yeah I guess I probably don't have enough clickbait lol! But my numbers are growing steadily so I'll keep putting out the videos and see where it goes! I have seen your channel and you fish many of the streams I have had experience with in the past! Maybe I'll see ya out there sometime! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Getting close to that time of the year again. I live in Rochester area and also have a nice honey hole up here if you ever want to fish it let me know. I don't usually get down below Naples. But willing to travel....
Hey nice fish! I am from Rochester and am going down to the Finger Lakes this weekend. Hopefully can get on a Brook trout. Is that a Battenkill reel? I have a few but they are all gray and I haven't seen a black one.
For sure I agree with that. Seen quite a few fish like these last couple times I’ve been out but no eats on the streamer. Maybe I’m too dead set on dungeons and articulated etc - gotta tie on the bugger next time for sure hahaha.
@@tomaszsmolka3737 I had good luck with just a worm under a float on one of my centerpins earlier in the season, but now it's getting to be fly time for me soon.
Yeah this day I wasn't too worried about spooking fish as the water was slightly tinged and it was overcast. This day it was just putting in the casts and some agreeable fish!! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hmmmm. I do a lot of research and look at a lot of maps. I have a list in my head of areas/streams I want to check out and then I find an opportunity to fish and check em out.
As an old, former upstate new yorker I usually try to figure out what stream you're on. The small brookie streams I can only guess a general area but for this one I think I recognize it. The giveaway is "big wild browns." Great job as always. Thanks for taking us along!
I think I know which stream that is too, though I've never fished it. I know a guy (a well known fly rod builder) that told me that if I want to fish it, he knows a guy that can put me on some big fish. If he doesn't ship the rod he's building me soon, I may take a drive to take him up on his offer.
Not even a 3rd through yet and I’m floored. It kills me to know I’ve flown over these central & southern NY streams probably a 1000x when I was flying for the NY Air Guard but I still have no idea where they are! 😮. Actually I’m happy this one is on private property; it shows how a stream with the right conditions can thrive without the pressure of all the mullocks on here (present company included) dropping in for a 1/2 day, even with catch and release! Great vid, thanks!!
LOL I have caught some big fish on streams with more pressure but they often seem to become much less aggressive and more prone to stay under cover unless its dark or water is murky/rising. These fish don't see much pressure so they haven't had too much negative feedback from being caught I think. Thanks for commenting and watching!
To be honest yes these fish see limited pressure but I know it does get fished as it is not posted and landowners seem willing to allow access. I have fished it a bunch and not caught trout like this. I have learned over the years where the prime lies are and when the conditions are good for targeting the big fish. Its not like I'm fishing a pay for play stocked trophy section or anything, these are largely wild fish with a few holdovers from stocked areas downstream. So i would disagree that this is not challenging,
Wow man! Good video! That is an amazing day catching wild browns! Most of us won't catch that many big browns all season!! Congrats on your awesome day! Tightlines!
That day is a lifetime of trophy browns for most of us. The size, weight and profile of the bugger was probably spot on as an imitation for the dace or brookies those monster browns are feasting on. Great video, thanks for taking us along!
I'm in the "leather stocking" region of cny and there's some greatly underappreciated trout streams here!!! Everybody always talks about the Delaware and beaverkill or up north to the finger lakes (which are all good too), but I've seen some 24"+ monsters even closer to me. Great day out though for sure!!!!!
Good point. I've fished both the Delaware and Beaverkill many times. In the last 20 years, I feel it was not worth the trip because of the number of people fishing both rivers.
Yeah the well known streams are well known for a reason as they are often good fisheries with good hatches/access but if you want a really big fish you have to find these smaller less pressured areas for sure.
Im absolutely shocked at the amount of subs you have, I was definitely expecting more from the high quality content! One of the better fly fishing channels I’ve come across. You just earned a new sub!😁
Having a piece of private on Cayuta is special for sure. Im "Green" and really appreciate your channel. Dont know how to keep my bugger from floating tho. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Hi, I'm from the Schoharie County area of NY. Flat Creek runs through the back of our property. I was wondering if you knew if there were any type of fish that ever pass through this creek. For the most part I never see any except for one time huge carp. Thank you.
superb "jungle fishing" this stream had bags of character and big stunning brownies and for your trouble you have a new subscriber, now that's a sweet deal ( for me 😊)
great day. grew up in central ny. you got the spot bro. great to see healthy wild fish. fun to mouse yjat place when it warns up a bit. congrats. feel sorry for the brookies, stay away from those monsters
I know I was bummed I didn't get into any brookies but they are in there (if they can escape the big browns). It is a great stream but does get a little low in the summer. Thanks for watching and commenting!
At 9 minutes in or just after, that cast was so perfect. Big fish on it too. Great content, one might say that’s too light a rig fir the fish but you made it work. You said you were fishing it because you enjoyed it, that’s the main thing in fishing!! Thanks!!
Thanks! I edit out the bad casts lol. You are right that rod was undersized but I just love that rod and have used it on that creek, I have a good feel for the distance with it and feel confident. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Was up on the "O" this past monday, about a mile above the dam, in the village of "O" . Im assuming by some of the holes i saw, that is the creek you were at. Didn't have much time to fish, and was fighting some hard gusts so i had very little luck that evening. Great little gem of water.
can’t wait to explore southern tier more. I’ve been loving the cayuga tribs in the ithaca area-I go to ithaca college, but watching your videos has led to a lot more of my money spent on gas and a lot more wild browns in my net.
What a great stream- all that bank side wood and undercuts just cry out "big fish live here!" A couple of those beauties were real footballs! Thanks for sharing.
