This was the time when the News was given to us without opinions of the station or broadcasters. I wish it were that way again.

There has never been a time when the News was given without opinions. That's a myth. First and foremost, the selection of which stories to cover is always based on the biases of the person doing the selecting. In the above video, negative comments about Prop 14 were given without any context or attempt to give both sides.

NEWS in 🇲🇽 BAJÁ CALIFORNIA MÉXICO... TIJUANA, ENSENADA, TECATE, MEXICALI, AND ROSARITO IN 1960s, 1970s..

Television news is worse now than it was in 1964; but there was opinion in news broadcasts then, too. David Brinkley, of NBC, and Edward R. Murrow, of CBS, for example, made a point of 'editorializing'; so did Howard K. Smith, of ABC, if I remember right.

...somebody writes the article, somebody edits the article (which may include deleting or moving 'graphs and ultimate positioning in the "paper") and, most importantly to *this* topic, somebody owns the newspaper (pick your media).

Wrong. There was more bias and slant then than today. Operation Mockingbird was a CIA program that the network and most large newspapers agreed to to present slanted and, as it turned out, sometimes false news stories. And there was much more, not so formal slanting of news.

It would have been good to see Johnson/Goldwater debates.

Goldwater proposed that he and LBJ travel from airport to airport aboard Air Force One doing short debates, or Q and A sessions, much like British campaigns. Johnson said, forget it, as he saw it as Goldwater trying gain presidential stature by being an equal passenger on the president's plane.

2:20s - a toddler crawls into a refrigerator, and then presumably closes the door from the inside, or the door may have just eased back and closed itself. I wonder about the logistics of that. Someone of that size being able to negotiate items of those dimensions. I have heard of instances since then of small toddlers being found dead in fridges and other white goods, one even being found crammed into a microwave. It could be instances of adults attempting to permanently lose their little charges. " Oh, dear, he has accidentally killed himself. Ooooh, darn ! ".

These were the infamous 1964 Peace dollars the Denver mint produced but were never allowed to put into circulation.

By the year 2000? We are 23 years on the other side.. Business not government are the main responsibility of the war against poverty.. Seems like a very BIG situation in this country in today's world.. Business is defiantly the main responsibility, but Government also wants to make sure you're double penetrated with the final laugh.. So really which out of the two could be worse?
@brendanjobe6895

Government because all it does is take money from one person (who earned it) and hands it to another one (who didn't earn it), then turns around and does it again. And in 1964, money was real money - not worthless coinage.

"Business is defiantly the main responsibility" Haha. Yes, business does tend to _defy_ a lot of social progress.

@@brendanjobe6895 Ever driven on a highway or a road? I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. Are you sitting down? Other people paid taxes to build the road and _you_ use it to get to the place you work or live. And the merchandise people sell to earn their money often comes by highways and roads -- paid for because the government took someone else's money! And the employees whose labor truly earns the store's money are able to get to work because the government took someone else's money.

@@brianarbenz7206 I'd say that depends on exactly who's definition of "social progress" one wants to employ - and what constitutes "social progress". So, you used the term; therefore, you can define it and demonstrate how it helps the average American.
