I had this happen to me with Amazon. I didn't get anywhere until I had emailed Bezos and probably 8 of his senior leadership team. It was at that point that my account was restored. You'll want to google to find out all of their email addresses and start the communication. Let me know how it goes!

Contact the Institute for Justice. Say you want to sue Instagram. They take cases pro-bono and they loooove taking on big outfits that shaft the "little guy". I wonder if someone hacked your account, posted something nasty, then reported your account. People are going to have to sue Instagram over and over to force them to reveal why they suspend accounts.

Through hard work with absolutely ZERO formal training, I created Smith's Cabinetry and Fine Furniture. Still plugging away, I built my 17th kitchen last summer. The money went to new steel on my pole barn. Do not give up your dream but trust no one or no body or no entity other than yourself. I am very new to utube. Keep fighting the good fight. Tim.

Community: One thing you can do when things like this happen is get your followers to post about it on Instagram's twitter feed. When lots of people start drawing negative attention to their feed they normally deal with the issue and review it properly. Also reach out to other larger channels to publicise the problem and get their followers to pile on too. I have seen this work multiple times now.

Since this may happen again, here's my tip: get a lawyer to write them a nasty letter about their claim of human exploitation, since that is defamation. Letters sent to legal departments, especially certified letters by lawyers, have a tendency to get a response from a human.

@harvey66616
@harvey66616 9 месяцев назад
Yeah, I don't see how defamation would apply here. But I would expect a claim for financial damages should be valid. No doubt, Instagram has something in their Terms of Service that attempts to preclude a lawsuit, but contracts like that can be invalidated, on the basis that they are imposed unfairly (since there is no real negotiation, nor any opportunity for the other party to modify the contract before agreeing). Between the loss of sponsorship and the revenue that brings, along with the ad-sharing revenue, and of course any harm caused by the loss of the synergy between platforms (no Instagram probably means fewer RU-vid views), I would expect there to be a claim worth pursuing here.

Community. I can relate to your story in terms of getting into woodworking in school. 100% agree there needs to be more support for youth if they want to get into trades instead of going the "traditional route" of college. I think it had a stigma and still does. Hopefully people and channels like yours help young people see what's possible. Thanks for creating such great content!

Thank you Spenceley for your channel and the education you provide to aspiring Woodworker‘s. I have been building my woodworking shop and business for the last two years and hope to have my break out the spring doing craft and Streetfair circuits. @many7351, I totally agree. Masters in chemistry and in teaching. Love my workbench and reduced homework. As a child I was always happiest at my father‘s wood bench with a hammer or saw. I went to private school and they did not have a shop class. Had my experience early on been different, I would have immediately gone into the trades and become a carpenter or furniture maker or whatever. The most important lesson anyone can take from this, follow your dreams! Pursue your passion and chase your happiness! ☺️

I'm a woman and always loved building, making things that I needed. I went to college, and was drawn to the construction - trades, as well as the other things that you had to take to get a degree in the main college. But my interests are always so varied - I took farming, ag classes too, to the point that I just stopped with the other classes and took construction, drafting, cad, etc. Now I'm 65 and my sons are grown - one in business- one in computer tech - and one in Electrical trades. The point is - Plumbing, Electrical would have been great if I actually got into construction. I Love the Trades, they are so VERY important. I have built so many things for my home - my hubby was a Family Practice Dr and couldn't screw in a screw. We made playgrounds, tables, cabinets, drawers for my kitchen, a covered patio, then enclosed part of the patio for a workshop with all the tools we all needed. Next is enclosing the patio thats left for family to sit in comfort with out mosquitos. All the boys have tools here - and we constantly are building. Go with your heart. I never did get that degree. I just build my own houses, sheds, cabinets, book cases, tv stands, you name it. And I'm happy.

@@ppastrana1672 / That's awesome. I struggled for 11 years in and out of college before I finally got a degree and teaching credential. I had industrial arts in junior high, and was good at it. Built a folding kayak in 8th grade. I took 3+ years of wood shop in high school. I dropped out of college, got into a house-building program... learned what I needed in a few months, and went to Colorado and got a job on a framing crew. $5.00/hour. It took a few more years before I got my ass back in school to finish my degree, and I was always able to make money as a carpenter. Now I sub teach part time, and work on and in my shop, where I'm finally able to put things "away", instead of in my truck. If I had it to do again I would have focused more on woodworking/contracting, and photography, which is another passion. Seriously, learning to do what you want to do, instead of what you should do is key in this life.

community: I learned the “disrespect” given to the trades in school is mostly due to people not understanding them. After I got out of high school I became an electrician and my school was threatening to rip out the wood shop and auto shop at the school and turn it into a gym addition for their believed football team. They also just wanted to push more paper at kids. Make kids book smart, not practical smart. I, among many others, petitioned against it. In my class, there were 10 of us that went to the trades and another handful that went to tech school, but all of us were making up to 6 figures within a couple years of graduating high school (honestly mostly cause we all were willing to work 12-14 hours a day 5-7 days a week… lol). Well, when it came time for the final decision for my school, they ended up seeing our success, and also many many parents spoke up about how they wanted their kids to go in the trades or get practical education from hands on classes, and the school decided to expand the wood shop, add new metal working classes, and expand the art program (small metals, ceramics, etc. super cool program now). My high school went from pushing text books down kids throats to now allowing them the choice to what became a super elaborate, yet simple to comprehend, for building wood furniture, precision metal working, trades classes (including wall construction, plumbing, electrical, drywall install and repair, shingling, etc!!). And they added engineering classes to supplement it! CAD design, electrical design, and architectural design, among many other choices. All of this is to say, I’ve seen the change. I think a huge wave of trades people is imminent in the next decade. It’s desperately needed before the older generations retire! Lol

The bad thing about social media is there is literally no rebuttal process that is favorable to the user and makes it nearly impossible to resolve issues in a timely manner. Community. On October 12, 2021 I was laid off without warning. I'm a contractor at the NASA Glenn Research Center with a month shy of thirty years experience with space flight experiments of all types flying on all platforms. I had falsely assumed my experience would trump any layoff threats. I was wrong. I had been toying with the idea of a side hustle but had not pulled the trigger. Guess what I did after talking with my financial planner? Meanwhile an unexpected chain of events has actually opened the door back to where I was. The source of the layoff was NASA extending the contract but reducing the funding by half and I lost the popularity contest along with several other experience people, read that high earners, along with just enough less experienced to stay out of court. Not quite as faceless your situation, but a similar feel. I hope to be open for business by the spring which is scary as it's far from my comfort zone. Good luck building your side hustle back up.

All business are a risk. I owned a small service business for 10 years. I discovered, very early on, that depending on a small number of larger companies for my business was a very bad business plan. Before and after owning that business I worked in the design engineering business. After many years of working in that business for a very big corporation, a guy from “upper management” walked into my office one morning and informed me that my services were no longer needed. That was almost 10 years ago. I guess the moral is this: Do something you enjoy but don’t every think you have “made it”. Learn to live on what you make. Not make a living. And always save for the future. I am 73 years old now and comfortably retired. Even though I do what I want to do on a daily basis, that also is not perfect.

Community. This is the first video of yours I have ever watched. You got a raw deal from that guy named Algo. You seem harmless,😁 so I subscribed, liked, and set up notifications. I promise to watch and like all your subsequent videos to do my little bit for your loyal community.

Community : There was an old book called by an author Don Lancaster, who had a small book called the 'Incredible Secrete Money Machine'. One major take away was that you need 'multiple sources of nickels', yes, what you mentioned, you need multiple sources of income, so if one dries up it doesn't matter that much, but do take time for yourself too. So that being said, your point is well taken, and hard learned by many of us. (I now say as a retiree that saved enough and invested in multiple things partly because I suspected Social Security would be insolvent by now. Yes, I am cynical but I do try to make sure that is being a realist not just a grumpy old man).

I've always been in trades, looked down on the overly educated graduates. After the Army i went into carpentry. After 40 years as a carpenter I still look down on people to smart to turn a screwdriver.

Actually what this should be about is the power that social media companies wield given that they have ZERO customer service. This needs regulation. Oh, nothing should be regulated? Yeah, let's discuss how that works in the real world. Everything needs regulation, regulation with teeth. Multiple income streams? Yeah, great idea, I have them. The problem is there is only so much time available to us.

I managed to get into drafting, when I was in my late teens, a great job, at Bell Labs. I realized they respected only the degree, so, I went to college, knowing I could do drafting to pay my way thru. However, the entire drafting field dissolved, when more pc's were on the market. I had to do roofing paving and electrical to pay for college. But, I could never get another drafting job.

Community: I love that you're in a small space, cus that is where I am starting my woodworking journey (only a few months in). So sorry that the Instagram account happened, that sucks, seems like you are able to come back even better. That is great. I also like that you show your mistakes as I learn a lot from how you handle the corrections. Keep it up. Your videos and delivery is on point!

Community. I stumbled across this channel today while surfing RU-vid for woodworking content. That's a crazy story and a friend of mine has a similar story with Facebook. It's insane to me that as big as they are, there is no one you can talk to. It blows my mind. Customer service is literally nonexistent. Good luck with that fight. I'll definitely be checking out some of your videos and I'll give your new account a follow as well.

That Instagram BS must be illegal some how. Great job btw on how far you have come so quickly towards accomplishing your dream. I kind of share the same dream . I say kind of because I didn't even know a guy could make that much that quickly from doing it. I don't do Instagram and after hearing what happen I truly want nothing to do with it. I'm subscribed to your channel here now so keep it up and good luck. I'll check out your past content and be watching for more. Take care.

Community. Thanks so much for your work. I appreciate the heartfelt, thought-out delivery of your circumstance. Even though this video is a year old, I encourage you to keep going strong. I just ran across your channel today (Harvey tablesaw) and watched other videos, as well as subscribing. Thanks for offering free plans on your site and I think if more people knew of your circumstances they would be willing to purchase your other plans to toss in a bit of goodwill toward recovering your business. I look forward to seeing more. It's a lot of hard work beinng a creator. I have a lot of the skills necessary to make a channel, but I don't particularly enjoy the social side of it, so it's not for me. I do, however, like to learn so I gravitate toward this type of content. Keep up the great work.
