The true oddity of this devil fruit is that the user wears the jacket person like a normal jacket, sleeves and all, not the "cape" style everyone else wears them in the universe

I'm curious if there's a whole line of clothing themed devil fruits like say a belt-belt fruit, a shoe-shoe fruit, a hat-hat fruit. Granted they may sound ridiculous but no one expected the jacket one

For a jacket fruit to be viable it would have to be the other way around - somewhat like Hobi Hobi no Mi. You touch the person, you turn them into a piece of clothing, you wear them. At this point the range of possibilities is limitless: using their power, reading their memories, disguising as them - you name it. As an awakening you would be able to make a jacket out of several people at once by showing off your tailor skills. Then you can become any of them or a combination of them at will. Now this almost sounds like nightmare fuel.

Awakened idea:He can turn the environment and People into jackets and wear them himself while still retaining control (even though he's now wearing them)... also he can stack jackets upon jackets... truly the most broken fruit to exist.

I'd say that an awakened Jacket fruit is almost the opposite of it's current use, in that you turn other people into jackets that you can wear but as the fruit user you still control them. So it would be a fruit that's useful for infiltration

I think this fruit would be effective if the person can still move after turning into a jacket, allowing them to jump on a target and "capture" it

If the jacket can fit a monster, can it stretch in size to fit a giant monster? That would make it much more useful, such as for controlling a dinosaur.

The jacket fruit is just a fun way of portraying something Law's power can do as well. It was implied that body snatching Imu was a goal off Doffy. And it might something that Imu did herself.

I always found you just have to change one thing about this fruit to skyrocket it's potential. And that's for the user to actually be able to move in jacket form and can force itself on what it want to use.

Some ideas of what the awakening might look like: 1. The trivial one: The fruit user can turn anything into jackets, so you can dress your home and take it with you if you like. 2. The layering: You take over another body indefinitly and turn it into a jacket too. So Person A is worn by Person B is worn by Person C, etc... One redeeming quality of this fruit might be Haki: If the user can use advanced Haki but the host cannot, the combination would be actually stronger. I wonder if there is any potential synergy with Kinemon's fruit. If Kinemon can create any clothing, can he create infinit onesies of the current user?

Two terrifying thoughts: 1. what happens to the "combined" user and wearer when they fall into the ocean? 2. people wearing others is a theme in certain stories... for adults.

I imagine the Awakening of the jacket jacket fruit would allow the user to retain enough mobility to forcefully make someone wear him. Also I could see Kelly's Awakening fully eclipsing a person's personality so they can't attempt to take Kelly's jacket off. If he had a strong will like you said, he'd be unstoppable after awakened.

I wonder if the awakening of the jacket fruit would be the ability to force someone into the jacket if you say jumped on their back and then became the jacket. Kind of like how the venom symbiote works in Spider-Man 3

An awakened jacket jacket fruit would just let you put yourself on someone whenever, instead of needing them to put you on. Remove the restriction would be a way to make it on the 'next level', even if its boring.

Maybe the awakening is OP to compensate its uselessness natural form, like going around turning people into jackets but without a mind so that you can you can wear them and "become them", maybe even access to their memories so that you know how to use their body and how to act like them, but without them taking over you. Of course if the Victim's haki is too powerful they can un-jacket themselves so that the fruit is not a one hit KO over too powerful characters. So almost like a riskier version of Katarina devon's fruit, since you have to be near the person you want to jacket and disguise yourself as, though maybe over time you can have yourself a wardrobe of people

It gets even far worse. Given what we now know is that devil fruits are the dreams of somebody in the past. So somebody must have dreamed to become a jacket for others to wear. Once the fruit awakens you can become a closet to hang the jacket in.

The awakening would logically then be the power in reverse and ha can turn others into jackets and objects into jackets and wear them. A ponaglyph gets turned into a jacket and he wears it becoming indestructible!

8:00 Dragonball explored this idea twice, in Z with Captain Ginyu and in Super with Zamasu and Goku Black. They take Goku's body assuming it will simply make them powerful, but it doesn't work that way, Goku trained to use Goku's body properly, Ginyu just debuffed Goku's base power and Zamasu had to go down a whole other path and learn his own unique way to use the body separately from how Goku did it.

Jacket jacket could possibly be amazing if awakened. What if you’re able to turn other people into jackets and you get to wear their skin. It’d be like Bon Clay but you could easily incapacitate your enemy by just making them a jacket, just like how Sugar makes everyone toys.

Most devil fruit awakenings appear to include the ability to apply your power to nearby inanimate objects... so maybe the Jacket-Jacket awakening would allow Kelly Funk to control a building or statue or something like that? That seems ridiculous, but we have seen someone tame a building using a fruit power, so it wouldn't be that strange by One Piece standards lol

I think Awakened can make it fit any size person since I think the normal version can only fit a little over/under your size. Or you can fit _multiple_ people inside you, somehow. Or you can forcefully wear someone permanently without considering if the person needs to eat/sleep/etc. Maybe not even consider if they're still alive! A horrifying power if you think about it.

Based on what we know from Vegapunk, devil fruits come from someone having a desire for that power. So I can’t help but think there was a One Piece version of Silence of the Lambs and Buffalo Bill is the one who wanted it. Except now he’s telling people “it puts the jacket on its skin”

Do you awaken the jacket jacket no mi by going a certain period of time without the person inside of you peeing in you? I mean you gotta go eventually, so maybe that fruit tests your ability to let go of control over whomever you have control of?

You're forgetting that if he was able to awaken the jacket jacket fruit he'd potentially be able to turn other things into jackets effectively making him like the vice admiral you mentioned earlier minus the ability to clean their hearts. He could also turn inanimate objects into jackets and if successful he could put them on other people immobilizing them and turning them into rocks or something for how long the power lasts.

It really is one of the worst Devil Fruits there are, but when he did turn into a jacket he managed to unzip himself. So he was able to move, even if not by much. So maybe a more potent user could actually haunt and wear themselves onto others. Thus making is a far more terrifying Devil Fruit. You can't control yourself to unzip this hellish demon off of you while you watch and probably feel every unspeakable action they are doing. When they are done, they leave you, scarred both physically and mentally.

It's funny to think that someone in the OPverse dreamed to be a jacket or at least have the same function of a jacket as Vegapunk mentioned that devil fruits "is a possibility of human evolution that someone desired"

It seems to me that awakening the Jacket fruit would allow you to wear other people, but you’re still in control, which would be incredibly broken. People without Haki would just be instantly turned into Jackets for you to store away for when you wanted their appearance or abilities.
