In this lesson I want to show you the perfect drill that will help you to runout the table more often. It offers different difficulty levels. To make things easier we are grouping the balls like below:
Group A:
1, 3, 5
Group B:
8, 10, 12
Group C:
2, 4, 6
Group D:
7, 9, 11
Level 1:
Clear Group A, then Group B, then Group C and Group D. You can play a random order inside the groups.
Level 2:
Same as level one but in numerical order inside the group.
Level 3:
Always clear one ball from a random group and then switch to the next one. Once every group has three balls left, do the same until each group has only two balls left and so on.
Level 4:
Clear random balls switching between group A and C. After every ball is pocketed, do the same starting with Group C and D.
Level 5:
Same as in this video.
Level 6 (Ultra Hard):
Play the balls in the following order:
1, 7, 3, 9, 5, 11, 2, 8, 4, 10, 6, 12

I didn't do a drill video for a long time. But a few days ago I published a drill on my Patreon page that trains a really essential kind of shot, that could help you being able to run more racks in the future, so I made a RU-vid video out of it. I hope you ejnoy it! And don't forget to mirror the drill sometimes, so that you don't always have to play the same shots!

Try as I might I have a lot of difficulty hitting 3 rails. I studied it in slow motion using my go pro, I'm simply unable to generated sufficient backspin. I'm using your tips on backspin, small radius, which I rough up and chalk. If I join your Patreon can you review my videos and tell me what I'm doing wrong? .

This drill got me so frustrated. Got some work to do. I keep making the ball come off the short rail, into the long rail then into my other balls on the opposite side of the table or scratch into the corner pocket.
@zengrath
@zengrath 2 года назад
Same thing is happening to me, He seems to be able to draw a ball with so little effort compared to me, I seem to have to really hit a ball super low and super hard to get it to draw like he does and he seems to use like a 1/3rd of the power I need to. I am trying to figure out what i'm doing wrong and starting to think it could be my old cloth on table or my cue stick or both or I could just be know understanding how to draw a ball properly. I've noticed sometimes if i use a loose grip on my back hand when stroking the cue ball on a draw shot it sometimes ends up with a more powerful draw but only sometimes and I don't understand the physics of why that seems to work better then holding stick tighter, it's probably just mental issues getting in the way as i don't know what i'm doing wrong and now just making stuff up.
@zengrath
@zengrath 2 года назад
I don't know what I'm doing wrong here but when i try this drill myself every time i aim bottom or bottom/left English it always hits 2 rails then nearly hits the 3 balls on the opposite short rail hitting the short rail around the diamond next to the corner pocket, but in your video cue ball goes toward the 1-2 diamond on the 3rd long rail. I don't know yet if it's due to my pool table or something i'm missing. Also due to the amount of force I have to hit ball close to short rail into corner pocket, ball almost never sinks into pocket and kicks out instead. Only time i can hit ball with that much force is when object ball is multiple ball widths from a rail, any shots along or very close to a rail I have to tap it so it falls into pocket. Again I don't know if it's something i'm doing wrong or it's just my table is much different which prevents me from doing many of the drills shown in your videos. But i'm practicing this anyway to see if I can compensate or do something a little different, however in a real game i'm very unlikely to ever use this, since I have only maybe a 5-10% chance of making the ball in corner by hitting it that hard. Typically in real games, i just use a little top right english on cue ball to bring ball straight down table off 1 rail, it's significantly easier and i don't have to hit it as hard making it much easier to make the ball into the corner, but of course only works if there is no balls blocking the path.

I am having so much trouble with the very first shot. The cue ball never has enough draw on it to bring it back to the long rail. The best I can do is get the cue ball to hit 2 rails and go towards the corner. Any advice on getting the cue to hit the third rail closer to the side pocket? Thanks
@zengrath
@zengrath 2 года назад
same problem i'm having, it always goes towards the short rail and not the long rail and I can do it so it barely misses hitting the row of 3 balls on opposite of table and sort of works but then I can't get speed down yet to line up for the next shot, usually going to far or not far enough. Have you figured out what you did wrong yet?
@pewterthecat93
@pewterthecat93 4 года назад
I love your videos. On this one how does the thickness of the table felt affect the angle of the cue ball off the first rail? I am playing on a table with thicker felt and I have to use max low left english to hit the second rail short of the middle pocket which barely gets me to the correct side of the other end of the table.

Re: do's and don'ts: I would say above frigging all when you do a draw shot, think twice about how much space you have to work with when the cue comes back and how hard you really need to hit it!!!! I have seen too many vids on draw shots where too frequently the cue nearly scratches after it kicks back. That should not be an issue when you're thinking about doing one--the point is to have the cue line up for another shot in nearly the same location!

I on the beginning shot on the 1 and to the 2 I am having trouble getting the cue ball to travel the total distance. No matter how hard I hit it I can't seem to get it there. I noticed that the original position of the cue ball is important but from the angle that you show in the video it's tough to see where your placement of the cue ball is. I have played with changing the position but I just can't seem to make the ball travel that far. Can you offer some tips? Thanks
