As a person who was in metalcore/hardcore bands all highschool/college, who eventually grew older to appreciate the ambient reverb side of things, I still hold a deep love for touche amore and all post hardcore. It's still where I do most of my real creation/writing, even if I love just spacing out on verbs and delays. Really really loved the intro song and showing how great this pedal is! I hadn't heard of it before, but can't wait to try to save for it soon. Keep being rad
So good. Thank you for showing this pedal doing what it’s made to do. I’ve got one of the original run pink ones and the moment I turned it on I knew it was going to be on my board forever
The way you spoke about Touché Amore I just downloaded the stage 4 album I’m good to check it out after this video! Hop you turned me onto something amazing to my ears! Absolutely love your content and I’m a bass player but your stuff is absolutely beautiful!!
Just found your channel. Great stuff man! I love your laid back demeanor and thorough demonstrations. Very relaxing in a sea of jump-cut RU-vid hype men who are afraid to post a video over 10 minutes.
As soon I as I heard the intro track I was like “yeah this pedal is good be rad” however I was shocked at how good your Strat sounds thru it. Honestly struggling with what I enjoy more, the guitar or the pedal. Killer work as always!
Protein is a little more evened out, imo (speaking specifically on the Blue channel on the Protein V the drive circuit here). Less max gain on the Protein and less maximum treble but it never feels dark. I think the protein feels way more “immediate.” It’s very simple and even through there isn’t a super wide array of tones in the blue channel, what it does is nailed down perfectly. The LL gives you multiple EQ ranges to work with and a significant amount more gain. I’d call the blue channel a “low to medium gain BB” and the LL “A medium to high gain drive with BB tendencies”
I was able to snag one at the Touch Amore show last month in Denver. Clayton saw me struggling to hold onto it up front so he took it from me and placed it on his deluxe reverb amp for the show. I would say that's the closest thing to TA blessing my pedal for me. Lol. They are the sweetest dudes in the world.
@@markjohnstonofficial totally. Also gotta say I loved everything you had to say about the boost. I combine it with my Longsword and sick as as well and it just never disappoints.
Okay okay okay... Sure, sounded really great on guitar, but can we talk about that Bass VI tone!!?? Holy crap! Sounded perfect to me. Huge, crunchy but articulate. Great demo, Mark!
Currently have the Wampler Pantheon Deluxe, and while it's pretty great, I think this may fill that loosely BB styled pedal better. Seems to have a bigger sense of airy-ness that I really like. And I'm a dumb person who doesn't like tons of options and voicing and gain levels. Currently have the UA dream on order. I know not all pedals do well with amp sim pedals and wasn't sure if you could say how this one responds? While a lot of that depends on which amp sim itself, I've found some are better than others when actual tubes aren't involved.
@@manvsem Sweet! I picked up a Halberd V2 about 2 weeks ago and it’s a killer pedal but it wasn’t what I was looking for. Saw some demos on this and this should definitely satisfy the sound I want.
@@Floppa-oz1kp I want every single pedal from EAE They are all great and unique We are always looking for something 😄 Last time I tried to buy limelight 2 and it’s gone when I push purchasing button (( Today - we score 🤓
Thanks Mark as always for the demo. You are a big influence for me regarding gear/sound/etc. I just really wanted to thank you for putting me onto Touché Amoré 's Stage Four album. Having experienced a nearly identical loss a few years ago, it really hit me hard. A final catharsis, I suppose. So thank you for that Mark. You take care.
Hi Mark, I'm new to the channel and I am really interested in your work... I subscribe immediately! I have a question for you: I have seen that you love double overdrive pedals and I love them too. I'm searching for a light double overdrive and I am actually impressed by the Protein, Gladio, Thorpy Dane, etc, etc... Unfortunately I cannot compare directly these pedals but you probably did and you have much more experience... What pedal would you suggest, among the pedals that you tested, for a prs humbucker guitar with fender hot rod deluxe? I hope you can help me... I would appreciate ;-) Go on with your great work!
I literally stopped scooping horse manure when i heard this demo in my gear demo queue. I stopped and listened for a good 10 minutes because the sound just consumed all of my attention!
This pedal surprised me a lot. I's so versatile and as tempting as it is to find a good tone and leave it there, the payoff when you keep exploring is really satisfying.
