Hello, Sara here, and I'm excited to share my latest pattern with you: The Tie Dress! Inspired by my previous summer's makes, I've finally brought this vision to life, and I'm thrilled to sew along with you.
The Tie Dress offers two sleeve options: Short Sleeves and Elbow-length Sleeves.

twooninefabric...
If you're new to using PDF patterns, I'd recommend checking out a tutorial or video on how to use them effectively. • How to print and store...
The Short Sleeves feature a unique bottom opening detail, adding a touch of flair. If you prefer slightly less ventilation around the arms, you can easily sew longer side seams to block the opening.
For the Elbow-length Sleeves, I have incorporated an inverted pleat detail. This subtle feature enhances the elegance of your arms, creating a dramatic yet slimming effect.
The Tie Dress comes with pockets! However, I must emphasize that they are entirely optional.

Just joined after watching this and many videos late last night. I sew for others a bit as retired to a very hot community but its had to make many sizes or truly customize and charge for that. I was looking for something like this that could be adjustable and not have to completely depend on sizing to myself or customer and let's face it...women's sizing fluctuates and with our hour glass shapes its hard to have size ranges. Men's clothing hangs from their shoulders like a hanger. They dont have to buy new shirts gaining or loosing 20 pounds! I also got a serger for my birthday in March because where I live is rural and im going to make "material" from tshirts and men's shirts. And cotton! High desert. We have 2 seasons! Hot in summer, cold in winter.

Thank you for making this video. The dress looks a lot like the “zero waste “ designs that I am so keen to make….because fabric is so expensive these days and because this planet suffers from wasteful use of fabric in many other designs. Your design is ideal. Not only are there clean shapes of rectangles , but I imagine that it would be very easy to make larger sizes if required by using wider fabric or adding panels to the bodice and/or skirt. The simple style is very elegant and, as you have shown, adaptable in style. I wish you much good fortune in your life❤😊

It ' s such a beautiful dress, I've already bought several fabrics to sew it and I'm just about to start. The instructions are almost clear. The only thing I don't quite understand are the long sleeves. In minute 14:44 it looks as if the long sleeves are directly attached to the bodice and in minute 15:02 there seems to be a second strap (the short sleeve?) in between. Can you help me, please?

I am so looking forward to sewing this one, I have already bought the pattern and am starting today so thought I’d double check your video. Your instructions are so easy to follow, this is what I really appreciate about your patterns (having already made the hanbok skirt and infit both of which I love!), the ease of your patterns to sew and the instruction you provide in your sew alongs. I just tried another commercial pattern recently and it has been an unfinished disaster, the instructions are awful and difficult to follow. Wonderful video. So helpfull If I Can make a wish for a super helpfull addition to the pattern, it would be a cutting guide that helps me place the parts on different fabrics with different sizes, for optimal fabric use. I actually managed to cut a size 18 on 2 meters of fabric - because I made the short sleeve - and chose a different fabric for lining This way I could use fabric from my stash 🎉🎉🎉 I know this is a lot of work and that it is not possible to make all the possible variations. But maybe you will consider making a guide to help us minimize the amount of wasted fabrics ❤️❤️❤️ if this already exists please help me find it ❤️ Thank you for your beautiful patterns and helpful videos ❤

Hello and thank you for a beautiful dress pattern. I have purchased it and cut it out. I've been reviewing the tutorial prior to beginning and I have a question about the sleeve. This has been such a relaxing peaceful, calming experience, thank you. I’d love to make this but I’d like to ask whether it would suit a tall lady with ample bosom and a big belly? Hi, I´m sewing this dress now, and I love this dress and look forward to wear this. I sewing this in lightweigt woll and silk blend, dark blue ❤️ I have question about the two sleeve choise in the pattern. 1 - The short sleeve is 7 cm narrower than the elbow sleev, while the modell/demovideo shows that the sleeve widths are the same (on the shoulder side). What shall I do, cut the width 7 cm on elbow sleeve? 2 - Further, on the video demo, a part is sewn on the top of the elbow sleeve (against the shoulder), I assume this is to extend the sleeve. Is the extension equivalent tho the short sleeve? Is this a recommended solution?
@SewingTherapy
@SewingTherapy 18 дней назад
1. The short sleeve width is intentionally narrow to better cover the underarm area. Please follow the pattern. 2. You can disregard that part. I only patched it because I ran out of fabric. Please try to follow the pattern and instructions as closely as possible.

About to purchase a couple of your patterns, but curious about one thing: I don’t own a serger, so can I just trim seam allowance to 1/4” and overcast stitch on my regular machine? I am assuming that 1/4” trim is correct here, but not sure. Please let me know finished seam allowance. Thank you so much for such beautiful patterns and excellent video tutorials! 🙏🏻☺️

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled you found the sewing tutorial helpful. There's no need to trim seam allowance! Just sew an overcast stitch on your machine. :) Happy sewing!

Hello, I am just about to start making this dress. can i ask is the lining included in the overall amount of fabric needed or do i need to purchase extra for that? Also, can i use actual lining material or is it best to stick with same material? Many thanks for all your hard work
@SewingTherapy
@SewingTherapy 2 месяца назад
The fabric requirements chart includes the amount of fabric needed for the lining, but you can choose any other lining material for your project.

Hello! I bought the pattern and have made a mock dress out of calico fabric. It was really stunning! But I have issues combining the bodice and the skirt. I tried to pin the raw edges as closely as I could but after sewing, I found that the side of the skirt does not match the side of the bodice.. so the skirt looks wonky.. any advice how I can fix this?
@SewingTherapy
@SewingTherapy 23 дня назад
They shouldn’t have any issue matching. Did you follow the seam allowance suggested by the pattern?

Hello Sara, I love your design and am excited to start working on it. However, I have a few questions. Due to the extremely hot weather in Taiwan, I want to change the method of sewing the front and back bodice. Would it be possible to use binding or edge stitching instead? Is this feasible?
@SewingTherapy
@SewingTherapy Месяц назад
You can use bias facing or neck facing instead of the lining. These alternatives can provide a clean finish to the neckline without requiring a full lining. 😆

I happen to have double gauze fabric i can make this dress with! I do have a question however. Should i do the lining with double gauze as well? It seems like it could be quite bulky.
@SewingTherapy
@SewingTherapy 2 месяца назад
I used my double gauze fabric as a lining, and it looks great since the fabric is quite lightweight. If you think your fabric is too heavy, you can use any other lightweight material for the lining.

I don't have a serge machine to finish the edges like you do in the video.

You can use a picking shear. Or even a zigzag stitch on your machine. Or flat felled seams.

The seam allowance is included, so you can just cut along the edge of the pattern.👍

Hello Sara, is there any size like Infit for different style ? I’m small 1,60m for 50kg but I like large fit. According to you which size should I sew ? Thank you 🙏🏼 Sara !

The oversized feature depends on your measurements and preferences. I'm planning to create a reel about sizing, similar to what I did for Infit, so make sure to follow me on Instagram to catch it!

Hi. Which way do you press the seam at the waist?
@SewingTherapy
@SewingTherapy Месяц назад
I recommend pressing the waist seam downwards, but it's not critical. The best direction depends on the fabric type. Press in whichever direction the fabric lies naturally.

I'm making up this dress for my daughter for the first time and I wonder if you could clarify something about the sleeves? At 15:30 in your video, it looks as if the short sleeve has been attached and then the elbow-length sleeve is sewn onto that, but your instructions only appear to tell us to attach the elbow-length sleeve directly to the side panel of the dress. Please could you tell me which I should do?

Hello, I'm a little confused. I'm doing the elbow length option. At 14:37, the sleeve is attached to the bodice. But at 15:02 there appears to be a narrow strip between the bodice and sleeve. Please advise. Thank you.

I had a print shop print the AO Copy Shop file and I see that the side panel piece is twice the length of the two bodice pieces. Is this an error? Shouldn’t the side panels be the same length as the bodice pieces?

Hello Sara I love the pattern and the video. Have got the pattern and put it together. I’m very confused by the sizing. If I cut out the size 8 the bodice would measure 39.5”. According to the finished garment size chart the size 8 should measure 48.7”on the bust and waist? Am I doing something wrong? I have emailed the website but have not had an answer yet. I’m quite new to sewing so hope you can advise me❤
