I'm thinking the 47 book buyer is a you tube follower who wants to support your journey. This was their gift to you. Money for you, getting older books out of your store, making room, and another great video. Of course thats a bene for us too. 🥰 Loving all the vids lately. I check for one every day. Take care of you. Looking forward to the next video
When I get great orders I always throw in some type of related freebie, if available. Not only does it show genuine appreciation but also helps confirm positive reviews. So happy for you 🎉🎉🎉
@@backfromburnout Oh that's soooooo lovely. What a lovely idea. PS - I thought your point about just shipping in your packages vs the time to rummage around Tom's to find a 'perfect' box was spot on. Todays video was such a delight! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Loved this video - well done, thanks for sharing Mel❣️ And oh, chocolates and a note sent separately is a lovely idea although probably not necessary - do you have little thank you cards, that you could pop into special orders ? 💕I feel like someone is setting up a library for a community house like a women’s refuge or retirement village! 💓
We've all been wanting more Mel videos on RU-vid and have been so happy to see so many recently! Love when you get your warehouse organized because it gives you more time for RU-vid! So happy for you for this amazing sale!
My shelves are listed with numbers (bookcase 1, shelf 1 therefore noted as 1-1) rather than letters and numbers and the sorting works good and it isnt all over the place like you found. I sold 75 books recently to 1 person and ended up posting in 4 boxes weighing approx 40kg altogether. Wish I had more like that!!
Congrats on the order! From one seller to another I can really appreciate what you’ve accomplished so far and love what you’ve done to the place! Thanks for showing us around! 🏁Subscribed
My first thought, when you mentioned all the cha-chings going off… I first thought it would be all Mills & Boons. But then wondered if it was someone’s kid just playing on the computer. I had an order like that the other day, where I got a message ten minutes later to cancel and they blamed the child.
I have a question for you Mel: When I am doing the shipping labels on MyPost, it only gives me the option to choose "satchels" or boxes". So do you just choose the appropriate SATCHEL option (Small, medium or large etc) even though using the padded mailers? I don't understand why AP hasn't added this option in so sometimes I feel a bit nervous about not choosing an EXACT option in case it gets rejected in their system somewhere. Fantastic sales Mel! Great to have customers like that! Well done to you - your hard work and inspiration to others is paying off. Blessings and big hugs to you always. Deb (Mrs Resell) x
Hi Deb, thank you so very much that’s so kind of you! Yes I choose satchel. The branded padded mailers come underneath the flat rate packaging. They are sized small, medium and large. I buy the small in bulk lots of 1000 together the cheapest as possible. auspost.com.au/shop/sending/flat-rate-packaging/small?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0BMQABHZIl5gCJc6eTb3KKF23jLItToem2gNtAyk4f3LIutfCQoO38VBnvzO9YGw_aem_FPEMO80VYNL8QN3CMGBoKg If you use generic unbranded mailers then you need to choose my own packing. Any questions just reach out to me. Thank you, I appreciate you!
Way to go Mel!👏👏 You definitely know what you are doing when you have such good customers going back to buy from your shop and with such fidelity! Congratulations!🎉😊
I was thinking that, also. But, she may be preparing for a long downtime reading. It sounds as she went through with a list and then bought them in a long stream. Would a librarian in a poor area with a very limited budget buy books used? Or someone privately buying for a library? There was a $1000 budget here, the money above the price of the books to be used for shipping. Mel, please tell her that we are curious and ask if she could just give us a hint?
Excellent, lady Mel. You so deserve it. I don't enjoy packing at all but do go the extra to ensure no Aust post breakages. I sell retro, vintage and antique ephemera. I have had a few (3) breakages in 20 years , so dissapointing, especially when you know it cannot be replaced. Love seeing the direction you are taking. Go girl. Xx
A very nice tip on posting in boxes, if you leave the box square or rectangle Australia Post will cube it and it will cost you a lot more, what you need to do, either stick a box (empty) onto the outside or un-square the box, make a different shape on one end so It is not a cube ( fold over a side, just a little like a triangle, so they cannot be cubed,) (odd shaped box) the money difference is quite a bit,
When you showed the most expensive book, you picked it up from the 2nd pile and put it down on the 3rd pile. I hope you didn’t mess up your postal weight distribution!
That's one thing resellers forget... repeat buyers. I'm slowly growing my subs to my store 20 I think. But it pays off just like this one. Awesome job.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this video!! CONGRATULATIONS on such a great sale!!!! In the United States our books go out by Media Mail Rate. Just getting into this field so I hope it will turn out to be profitable for me. Thank you for all your encouragement to us Sellers.
When you get a huge order like that, you should send a 60 day coupon for 15 or 20% off. Then you get get another big order and help move more old stock.
📚Great Biblio Sale, Mel!📚 You'd love 10 more of those Buyer's! A 47 book order is very rare even for the thrift book Seller's in the States!☺️👍🐿Keep up the Good Fight!
love your pick and packs- you have introduced me to authors (australian) that I never heard of- I read mostly Australian- NZ British and Irish/scot mysteries- and some American authors (but not the most commercial ones) as an American I have been able to find some of the books you show- have purchased a few through American book sellers- found a bunch at our huge yearly book sale-(brought a list) runs for three days and then day 4 the resellers come (and I go to) even found a few of these authors on my free kindle app- thanks so much for showing your shipping (BTW my love of Australian Books started way back in the 70"s with the Thorn Birds- still one of my top 5 books of all time- reread it a few years ago and it still is amazing)
I’m super envious. I am very curious about the paranormal and would have gotten the same books. Just on a quest for the truth and why certain things happen to people all around the world. Makes you wonder about life a little more. Anyway, I’ve been a fan for a few years but didn’t know if you sold to the U.S. Probably cheaper to buy here, but someday I still want to purchase at least one. 😺 you are a sweetie. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and life. You’re awesome and an inspiration. I sell books but had a lull and need to list so many piles I’ve acquired in my little studio. 😖 lol 🦋🙏🏻🌺
Congrats on 40k subscribers! Question is there enough room to make your packing bench double wide? I’m sure someone probably has asked this before to maximize your sorting and storage space.
At 22:40 you pulled out the highest selling book, The Anthology of Chinese Poetry, and then put it back in the wrong stack. This is going to mess up your weights that you were keeping under 5 kilos. I hope you caught that and moved the book back to the correct stack. Nice sale!
Australia post boxes hold up to 5kg and you would fit more books in them. Im a seller and on band 3 and a large size box cost me about $15 to send. You can get xlarge boxes and would fit more books in.
@@backfromburnout Yes thats right. Its about time saving and you didnt have them on hand.ll You worked it out really well. Thank you for your transperancy about your ADHD. Two of my children have it. I love your video you have such a lovely laugh. All the best...Kim
I enjoyed today's video, young lady, and congratulations on your (giant) sale. It's becoming crystal clear you have an outstanding business mind, and your sense of organizational behavior is terrific. :>)
Congrats on the huge sale! I hope to have that with my store someday. Not sure what happened, but I noticed I wasn't subscribed even though I know I was. Anyways, re-subbed.
a printable pick list would have made thing easier to pull things and then check them off when done. I dont think ebay will create one until after you paid for shipping which has always sounded backwards to me.
Congratulations Mel on the 40k subs, very well deserved! 🏆🚀 Wow what a mega order, nice one! That last large bundle of books, looked like they weren't going to fit into the padded mailer, you cut the video short LOL; we didn't see the outcome, did they all fit in? LOL 📚 😅
I'm worried about your back carrying 66 lbs into the post office. USA they sell portable Dollies to transport boxes u can see if they have something out there for you. Or use a collapsible cart with wheels. I picked repetitively and hurt my back now I'm permanently damaged Just looking out for you.
Great sale ! Take the extra money and put it in you Emergency fund and you will have a better cushion. It helps with the stress off being self employed.
After all that, you need another coffee Mel. But I don't think $2 covers the price of a coffee these days. Brilliant job! Right from the start I was worried about HOW to pack and send SO many books to one address! Well done girl❤️
I love your videos but there is something that I'm definitely missing. For instance, that book "City of girls" is selling on Ebay for max $5 + free shipping. Even if you are finding them at 0.25 cents how is this profitable? Am I missing something?
