Trust me, it doesn't just work that way. You're a glass cannon. You will still get hit. And you can't one shot bosses, at least, I can't. Even at maximum attack, it does great damage but not one or even two shots (and I'm not on NG+ at all)
@@Kratosx23it depends on the setup u have , last night I literally one shotted Messmer each phase. It’s definitely the most broken thing the game has seen
Think i pissed off another creator's audience, he showed himself one-shotting the whole game with that weapon, and i said it took the fun out of it if you just streamroll the whole game in one shot, so it looks like they're mobbing my video now lol
As a straight sword player, I'm super happy with the addition of the Smithscript spear. It's been great for annoying flying enemies and magicians on ledges.
I've only done a little bit of testing on a couple small enemies so forgive me if you've already tested this: You should replace the Ritual sword talisman with the Two-Handed Sword Talisman. The reason being the Two-Handed Sword Talisman adds 15% damage while the ritual sword talisman only adds 10%. This works with the ashes of war and the throwing of the weapon and stacks with both. I think this is a better talisman also because of the basis of you have to be full health for the ritual sword talisman to work. Nonetheless very fun build and very good video!
It’s a 1.5x multiplier when two-handing weapons, so it can max out at 148 if level 99, or 120 at 80. No need for buffs, and IIRC they don’t work anymore to boost past 99 by themselves.
As soon as I found them, I changed my Characters Origin to Northener and respeced to the Smithscript Weapons. With the use of several mobility ashes of war and spells, evading the enemies and then throwing Axes, Hammers, Spears and which is most fun in my opinion fists at them. Never had such a blast in Elden Ring.
Yeah I love the idea of a pure "throwing" character. I'm in the middle of a more advanced perfumer build now (I've seen that there are some videos up already, but I'm enjoying tweaking things on my own for now). But I did mess around with the greathammer, the axe, and the shield. My only issue is that the shield overrides all other AoW options if the shield is in the LH slot, which means I have to constantly switch to 2-hand for the RH slots weapons (not the worst thing overall of course, and it's not like the shield is really meant to be a defensive armament). Still really enjoyable overall nonetheles.
I'm using this weapon! However, I'm using a shield to focus guard counter attacks. I tossed in Prayerful Strike to make using my crimson flasks a thing of the past lol. It's made the DLC and my NG+ base game playthrough trivial. Great video!
It’s honestly insane how much this dlc added. I thought Messmer would be final boss lmao. Turns out that’s only like a 1/4 of the dlc 😂 absolutely insane. From soft is so goated
@@endless193 yeah that's what got me lol. I thought Messmer was the big bad til I saw some of the spoilers. Maps so much bigger than I ever could've hoped
Dom your videos are absolutely fantastic and fun and very helpful. Can you please just humor me and post all of your stats for the build? I know you posted the main important ones but I would greatly appreciate if you could post them all. And going forward can you just post a quick screenshot of your builds stat screen? Just want to see what level you are at and everything else. Thanks. Your videos are among the best I ever seen.
I can't post a picture in comments unfortunately. Is there anything in particular you were looking for? But going forward I will show my full stats screen 😁
correction about the strength soft cap at around 7:14, the strength stat actuakly goes over the cap and the points arent wasted at all. Dont know if this is a bug tho
I've been loving the Smithscript Shield and Axe combination. The shield's skill has excellent range and tracking at a low FP cost, and while the axe might not excel in speed like Cirque or power like the Hammer, it does strike a nice balance of range (where the Cirque lacks) and mobility (where the Hammer lacks). I find the windup for the Hammer can be quite the commitment and momentum control especially around ledges can be a concern. The axe also has access to a jumping R2 so if an enemy gets close you can punish with a throw while jumping back which is pretty nice. So when it comes to running both the shield and axe together you can chain their attacks pretty well while staying pretty mobile.
I thought power standing a single weapon gives bonus strength past 99? Not sure myself but I’ve definitely seen strength mains claim this. My unders was that the fall off is so hard that it’s just not worth it, as far as I know though, if you have 80 st I thought it treats it as 120?
I don't think you're locked out of anything other than quest dialogue, the real lockout is when you burn the tree, that progresses quests to some degree so some choices may not be available anymore, but I fubared a few quests and still got some quest gear based on what I assume are the "default choices"
Awesome build, excited about the smithscript weapons. And congrats on the Bethesda sponsorship! I think I've put probably 300+ hrs into ESO, it's a really great game. I got addicted to the archaeology quests 😅
I was having trouble with radahn using the blasphemous blade, so i tried this build out. Level 220 with 18 scadu rating. Everything is just like you specified. It's mostb definitely NOT doing 10k damage against radahn with the ash of war.
I've been using a very similar build to this for 5 days now. I went in and beat Bayle on my second try, and Mesmer on my second try. I'm using the same weapon, affinity, and ash. Axe talisman, Two handed sword Talisman, Two headed turtle talisman because This is a stamina hungry build, and the dragon crest great shield. I tried the smith talisman, but found the two handed to just be better. Didn't think about the scorpion because I'm not using an ash with fire, like the black flame tornado for example. I may take a look at it again though. I'm not a fan of Ritual sword or shield. I don't like having to be at full health for those to work, especially with how aggressive the expansion enemies are. The physic has the spiked crack, and the opaline hard tear because I've began to value defense more in the expansion. Golden vow, Flame grant me, and the new healing incant is my current. I tried blessings, but I just didn't see it doing enough. Glad to see some one else stumble across this though.
Aged ones exultation over ritual sword and run howl. Two handed over one of the other talismans. Bloodsucking tear over one of the physicks. If you wanna go even further the madness mask (idk it's name looks like a mouldy blueberry) or varres mask and use seppuku. Could go EVEN FURTHER and hotswap lord of bloods exultation into aged ones along side swapping the masks and your damage should just be ridiculous at that point. Excellent video though makes me feel like the flame version of thor 😂
In another video, don't remember which, it was found the Savage Lion's Claw is rather pointless compared to two regular Lion's Claw attacks. This is because the second attack of the the Savage version has almost no poise damage, while doing the original twice in a row has the same high poise damage for both. EDIT: when you equip the Raksasha set, you can see how much Dmg negation changes in the stats screen. For me it was about 3.7% less Dmg negatation (all types) with the full set on, so if Dmg negation is already high, and then additionally buffed, it matters little. I am switching armors now. Thanks.
Shouldn't Leda's coat and talisman buff that stupid fast running attack? Also, as a quick aside, Beastial Vitality is a much cheaper, much longer lasting HoT that would likely be easier to use at 20-30 Mind, and can easily be regenerated by Blessed Blue Dew.
I love all the smith script weapons. Actually, I like most of the new DLC weapons. I love how many special double handed weapons they have that put the weapon in both hands when you two hand the weapon. Giving you a power stand ability you can use without having to hit the block button like normal. Now you have a block AND a double handed attack. But those SmithScript weapons are friggin awesome. When I first found the SmithScript dagger I was like “THIS IS AWESOME!”. Then I found the Spear and the Great Hammer and I was loving life. I was about to upgrade my great hammer today (Im a quality build) and now im definitely doing it after seeing this vidya! LOL 👍
I've been running a similar Lion's Claw build with flame art affinity Guts sword , flame grant, golden vow and sometimes erdtree bless. It's been great and even more so with a fire/faith or strength physick. You can just tweak things to cold or bleed as needed.
I really like the new upgraded Lion's Claw. It even had an extra hitbox buring flip into the second slam, and if you get it all, its a fat chunk of damage, and knocks down many snaller enemies. Sometimes even beefier enemies like black knights. Ive been using it on Great Stars, so all those hits can add up to a bleed proc fairly quick too, even being a strength faith build with no arcane
I'd been wanting to try out some of the new Smithscript weapons and this pushed me over and into the hammer. OMG! Amazing playstyle and the new Savage Lion's Claw ash of war is absolutely the one to use. I don't know if you mentioned it but I find that when you 'quick' throw a hammer rather than charge up the heavy for the throw, it doesn't go nearly as far (or do as much damage).
i havent even found this weapon yet the dlc is huge been playing daily since start i beat messmer and unlocked enir-elim yesterday now I'm doing the O Mother emote quest thing because this unlocked piece of map bothers me a lot haha
I had done some theory crafting and thought I had this hammer optimized, but holy smokes, your build is waaaaaay more powerful. Thanks for the great guide!

Idk I like the fire knights greatsword but I still love my bloodhound fang but I'm not leveled alot in arcane or faith which is the best for me I like swords mostly but I also don't mind bonk weapons either
I changed my entire build following your tutorial, but War Ash doesn't have the fire ability and that changes everything in the game. How did you manage to have fire in this gray savage lion’s claw?
first you want 80 faith (Assuming you use sacred, flame art) or you can run 80 int with magic infusion. The special thing with smithscript weapons is when you invest in intelligence or faith, it increases the physical + elemental damages of the weapon (It's why they have such high AR with magic, sacred and flame art) so you'll get much more AR from those infusions vs keen, heavy or quality (With smithscript at least).
Awesome Video Dom. Indo have a question, strength passed 99 doesn't add to the damage of the weapon? I thought that was the exception with two handing?
The DLC has been out for over a week. Are content creators supposed to wait 2 weeks, a month before revealing certain things about the DLC? That's ridiculous. If you don't want spoilers. Don't look things up about the DLC. SImple.
Fight the boss without a mimic and a summons, then tell us how great that hammer is, certain bosses are way to fast for that hammer, you would be lucky if you got a hit off.
The game can be beat with any weapons, you just need to learn the moveset. FromSoft would be pretty stupid to add weapons in the game that cannot deal with all enemies. It's all about practice 👍🏼
My man. I don't normally post, but after trying the last boss like 30 times... there is nothing wrong with seeking other options. Games huge, weapons are almost limitless...
I love how this build and many others I've seen rely on the npc or mimic to even pull it off as without them for a distraction theirs no way in hell your doing a full charged throw without getting fucked up. People look for help for certain combos or moves cuz we can't figure it out ourselves and need help. We fight with no coop help just solo and none of these type of videos seem to get that. If your not soloing bosses then why do you even need a broken build in the first place? I'm stuck on the final boss phase 2 and I'm looking for help with his moveset for a melee build, any ideas?? Na thought not 🥱
