As an EP1 owner it pisses me off when people say the Civic is a ricers car. But I don't mind defending it. Once a dude called me a ricer for driving a civic and it turned out he drove an old Corsa 😂
yh I should have, but can't complain tho, still faster than other cars that cost the same amount to buy and insure for an 18 yr old. I should be getting an EP2 in a couple of months hopefully.
Haha once at Walmart I took off my steering wheel and walked into the store. Some dude yelled "No one wants to steal that piece of shit" and drove off with his 90s corolla that had dents all over. 😂😂
Type Rs look really good when they're modified by someone that knows what they're doing. Alloys and lowering is all they need, they don't need body kits and huge wings IMO.
Great video, we have so many things in common, I also have a 04 ep3 Type r! I’ve had it for 13 years and don’t think I’ll ever sell it because I know I’ll regret it but it’s my second car so it’ll always have a space in my garage. Never get bored of that v tec and they’re so reliable, all I’ve ever spent on it is tyres, brakes and general wear and tear. It drives like the day I bought it. I’ve track dated it twice and I recommend any ep3 driver to do this to fully appreciate it. It is staggering how good they are on a track 👌🏽😃
I know he keeps saying "people call it ricer," but come on... it's a Type-R and a clean one at that. Even an Si should be getting a better nod than people allow. Want rice? I was on Craigslist and saw a clean '99 Civic Coupe: Si wheels, the iVtec DOHC sticker on the rocker, JDM style front end, lowered... it was a low-end automatic. There was no Vtec or even DOHC in that thing. THAT is rice-- it's lying and showing off something with absolutely none of what it really is. So then you look at what I drive-- fine, yes, it's rice-ish, and I have no qualms about it. But it's not trying to be something it's not. No stickers proclaiming turbos that aren't there or anything like that-- it's still what it is, but being a work in progress for making it a little less bland. If car guys can't see the difference between somebodies personal touches versus a car trying to be something it's not (EX automatic looking like an Si, or a Golf diesel trying to be an R32, or even a Toyota Echo trying to be an Evo or RSX-- which believe me both exist), then they still have some things to learn.
Well said..... but I'm still gonna keep my type r badge on my 1.6 ep 3, my brother is still going to keep his gti badge on his 1.9 tdi and my dad is STILL going to keep his M sport badge on his 3.0 535 D
Bin the Bonnet Bra, they trap water and cause discolouration in the paint. Much better off with having clear paint protection film applied. Nice car though!
I own a 2005 EP3 from new and intend to keep it forever. Its the last breed of true mechanical drive pleasure. No turbos, no traction control. Just so much fun on the back roads. My only regret.... I wish I bought a Integra.
@@vspinkboi I have an EP3 Si right now and absolutely love it but I know the other Si’s have better k series motors and stronger transmissions and LSD. But it’s so hard to leave the true hot hatch of an EP3 and how rare they are, which Si did you get? 8th gen?
The car scene of the early 2000's was by far the best. Now all car scenes consist of is brand new cars on finance with a sticker on the back, people are always making fun of each other's choices... If it's not a Supra with 1000bhp or an R35 it's rice. the Civic Type R EP3 is in my view a LEGENDARY hot hatch, it's quick, looks the part and handles well.
Beautiful car! I own a 2010 Civic SI sedan. Fun cars to drive, especially when that vtec kicks in. I'd like to own an EP3. The look of yours is so nice and clean. I wish I could keep my ride clean. This bipolar weather won't allow it. Amazing ride man, keep at it!
I had for 8 Years ek4, droven everyday, also sometimes on the racetrack. All what i can is that it was such a reliable car, which was fun to drive!! I loved it so much!!
I love the sound of vtec but this car would be a well balanced catlike not to much power is such a great idea I feel like like balance is the key to enter corners at the right time and come out of them quicker I would totally buy this car for the track
Honda VTEC engines are beautifully made engines. The Type R line are gems in the automotive world. They are fast in N/A form and even faster when turbo or supercharging is applied. I don't own one but if i had a car collection an ek9 and DC5/DC2 will be in there.
EP3 is a epic car. light, revvy. Brilliant. I bought one New and went on the Honda MAC Driver appriciation course. Brilliant days driving around the lake district and cumbria. Keep your floor down in the bends. (you need balls)
ive never really hated on hondas nor have i really ever liked them either, i always knew they were good cars (for track and winding roads) but not my cup of tea at the time as i was still into drifting (nissan guy at heart) been through countless nissans all set up well with farily big power drift spec r32 300whp, drift spec rb25 s13 410whp, streeter s15 360whp and my current 800whp street/drag/roll race s15, while i had my latest s15 in to get the vvl head swap on and all the rest i decided to buy an ep3 for a daily, it ticked all the right boxes, great economy, easy to park, very spacious and very zippy which is great for city commuting, even though at the time i wasnt a fan of hondas i knew they were a good car so i bought it and it wasnt long before i knew just how good of a car it really is, even though its fairly mild in terms of mods, plm headers, fujitsubo exhaust, injen cai and bilstein shocks, its safe to say it could out perform afew of my previous nissans, its mind blowing how quick it is and how well it handles with minimal mods, now i know why there is such a large following for hondas, its not that theyre the most powerful car but the most balanced and fun to drive, i havnt had this much fun in a car in a long time
I've just brought an 03 plate Type R and I think there great!! ownership reminds me of the great 80's and early 90's hot hatches e.g 205 GTi, Golf GTi. Jordan your car is very nice don't listen to the haters, they have never driven them before.
I love my premier edition. All standard but it's more than enough power for on public roads. My mate has an Evo 8 and its super fast but I don't know if that's the best thing now I'm getting older! When is enough enough I found myself thinking. lol :)
ill be honest, i drive a 07 subaru wrx and im an anti honda guy 75% of the time... You are one cool honda owner, nothing makes me more happy than somebody who is humble about what they have. I salute you, your cars beautiful, capable of hella (im from california) horsepower, and who even needs a turbo.......? Cant wait to see where future videos take you and your car and the changes that you will make.
he has a point people really don't take honda's seriously you show up to a car meet in a Honda even if its a nice one like this one the people driving the evo's and sti's and gtr's aint ganna care much about it but this type R is sick
Honda always gets a ton of flack and hate. You really have to own one to understand. They make great commuter cars that can be fun. They are far from being fast or even quick really and they don't handle like sports cars but they're pretty damn decent for the price. As long as it doesn't have a shitty intake and fart can and it's been taken care of well then I don't see a problem with it. Not everyone can afford a very fast sports or super car. You just have to make due with what you have.
Just recently got my first car, a 2000 Civic EJ9 and I really enjoy driving it, even if it's not very powerful the new civic looks too kind tho, like the old design better.
Im an ep3 type-r owner, and very critic about car. It only becomes fun to drive it after adding alot of caster at front, and roll center adjusters. It also needs 235 or 245 tires at front and lsd. And also a huge rear swaybar. I have a 28mm rear bar. And since i track it, it also needs alot of camber at front, and toe out front and rear. This is the basic changes to correct the horrendous front suspension design
@@K20TypeR engine power and bs does not matter weight and handling makes a car great ek9 handles better than ep3 you are looking at wrong car mate you should just look up to just a golf with 260 hp or gti was it called idk idc but
You know I’ve driven much more powerful modern sports cars. BMW M4, Audi RS3, Golf R, Audi S3, BMW M3 (E92) but none feel as exhilarating or as involving as the EP3 Type R. The Honda feels raw, responsive and alive compared to other marques and begs to be driven. Hopefully I can keep it forever and never have to sell it.
People!! Just because you love something doesn't mean you need to hate on what others love. Just love what you love and let others love what they love!!
The ek9 is the best ctr. It's lighter, it handles much better, and it's a drivers car. The ep3 was a weird looking, heavy car. Not to mention the shifter is in an awkward spot.
Could be mapped, also the factory standard is not a 100% fact for every out the factory type r, they will all vary in numbers 197 is what they give as average, or the target met. I've seen standard ep3's come at 194 to 210, my own is 207bhp not a single mod on it
look, im not saying anything bad about civics, but i can guarantee that i have a lot more fun in my e46 M3, and i paid less than 1/3 of what the 2015 type r will cost for it
S1ngula1rity How does a civic compare to a 333 STOCK hp s54 engine?.... It doesn't. lol I have a 330ci, with some boltons and ill tell you that a civic 10 years newer than my car can't even keep up.
this video wasnt about a 2015 type r, But going along with the logic of your comment. i can buy a $2000 motorcycle and i know i would have more fun riding that than i would your car.
that's a matter of opinion on whether you enjoy bikes or cars better, which isn't my logic at all. what's that v-tec easter egg in the video worth anyways? roughly 7-10k USD depending on mileage then add some because of the mods? so he bought it stock, added around $5k of mods and holy shite, you're in the low end of the e46 m3 price territory. in terms of fun and fun alone, i'd buy the bmw any day...oh wait, i did. guess that means i'm biased
Love the car. I'm probably going to go turbo as well. My motor is built up to 300whp N/A. Eventually it'll not be enough for me. But right now it's perfect for the tracks.
I keep hearing this "love of the sound of V-tec" I've been around civics and s2000 and for the love of god I still don't know what v-tec sounds like, can anyone tell me?
You have to drive one to know what VTEC feels like and sounds like its more of an experience. 7th gen accord v6 6-speed was my first car which is why I'm saying it I don't own that car anymore but VTEC is more of an experience its pretty fun but nothing that compares to a v8 or turbo engine no huge torque jumps just fun
Dont listen to all the hate, I love the car, I used to have an EP3 SI in the states and by far the most fun car, im planing on getting another one and turn it into an EP3 type R replica, good job on your car (sweet) enjoy it to the max man!!
EG6 and EK9 are the only civics that ever appealed to me. The only thing I really liked about the EP3 was it's shifter, it has a "rally" feel to it. But I still can't see my way into it. I'm too much a Subaru/Toyota nut. But I'm 20 now, and a brand new WRX, BRZ or STi isn't fathomable between engineering school and army schools. But I still wouldn't buy a Civic Si (as we know it in the states). Much rather drive a MK 6 GTI, but where I am, I drive a handed down 4x4 SUV because it's the only way to get through the winters.
"EP3 best Type R ever? Humm... NSX anyone???" - I guess he meant, that NSX is better, than the Ep3 Type R, but they don't say, that EP3 is the best Honda, they say EP3 is the best of Type R's, but "there's no Honda Civic Type R NSX"
Павел Махнин But there is an NSX Type R. "But owner Jordan believes this really was the best Type R Honda ever made..." The Civic Type R or the NSX Type R, which would you rather have?
Problem is lately i've started to see great looking EG6's and i'm starting to like them alot. The reason i didn't like them that much before is because the portuguese ones are just so simple, just engine mods and some bad rims ...
So long as I live, I will never understand the appeal of these cars. They don't look nice, and they are not fast, quick, or agile. 'Yo, VTEC just kicked in!" is something you say while getting passed by actual performance cars.
Who's narrow minded? I own a few cars. One of them is even a small hatchback. It's easy to park, practical for hauling people and things and gets great fuel economy. But it's not a performance car and it never will be. These guys talk about this thing like it's some sort of sports car and it just isn't. It would be like me talking about my actual sports car like it was a super car and it's just not.
Justin Key The Civic Type R hatch is the work of a genius man, they handle so well, they last forever, and its amazing how much rpm the K series can be punished with, its a work of art (:
