As to Mr. Mondrich, There were certain almost arbitrary types of “business” that a “gentleman” could engage in. It’s low class to engage in “trade”. Primarily a gentleman was “supposed” to only get money from his properties and investments and not actually “work”. Wealthy landowners were rapidly becoming became less and less dependent on rent from farming during the turn of the century though as industrialization rapidly changed the 19th century, so, the “rules” about what kind of things counted as “trade” could really differ wildly. (Like you could be a barrister but not a lawyer because one was salaried and one had an hourly wage, like the dirty commons!) I think in the case of Will Mondrich it’s just they don’t want to shake things up too much because they’re New Money and they’re allowed to be Interesting but, it raises uncomfortable situations for him to be a gentleman and own a club. It’s classier than owing a gambling hall but it’s not a good look. Besides the whole concept of his club is that it’s not just open to membership from the gentry. He lets anyone of note in regardless of class. To suddenly absent himself of direct involvement in it goes against his own principles and the philosophy of his club

Maybe I need to rewatch season 2 because I just don’t get the hype. The drama went on for way too long and they progressed Edwina and Anthony’s relationship way too far, to the point where I don’t understand Kate being with him. My sister is my best friend and if someone treated her the way Anthony treated Edwina, leading her on for so long while making eyes at her sister and basically saying that Kate couldn’t go far enough away to not tempt it, but also still trying convince Edwina to marry him, like I’d be turned off. I certainly wouldn’t marry someone who could disregard my sister and her feelings that way.

The mirror scene perfectly mirrors Polin’s relationship. Colin & Pen are so gentle and in love with one another the mirror scene fits so perfectly with part 2. I will say part 2 was a WHIRLWIND okay! But as I sat with my thoughts it perfectly represented Polin. I know some people wanted more however the drama HAD to be had and truly I enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see them in season 4

Consent King Colin checking in THREE times, Pen giving Titian's Venus on that chaise, her breathy "oh, yes" and them laughing together during and after... that's friends to lovers right there. It was a PERFECT first time for them. Absolutely smashed it.

6:34 - 13:20 are my exact thoughts on the entire episode. And Colin standing up for Penelope against her cow of a mother was just as amazing as Anthony standing up for the Sharma family against those dreadful people. I had to pause so many times during their first time. I felt like I was in the room and needed to walk out. Not in a bad way. It just felt so real and amazing of how it was done. And the fact that their first sex scene took two days to film is intense. My gosh! Massive respect and love to the cast. Love your channel! I cannot wait for the rest of your reactions. For the Mondrich family, the reason they cannot use the new money from their son's Barony for the bar...The estates of the Barony are being held in trust for their son. They can use the money for everyday expenses of the estate including clothes but putting the money into another business would be considered stealing. They have not specified who is the trustee is for the estate. It could be Will or attorneys or even bankers.
