Yeah Mordecai starts off as the voice of reason and Rigby is lazy and does messed up things but as the series goes on Rigby improves himself while Mordecai regresses
@@tokyoplayz5141 what about the fact he was jealous at his friend for trying to improve himself and romance was like 65% of his character for the entire show
@@Raddish-IS-Radd not regressing epecially since he wouldve reacted that way even in the earlier seasons. thats just him at a standstill with improvement not regressing. Romance wasnt his character, it was apartt of his character as well.
@@tokyoplayz5141 with the inclusion of cj in the later seasons mordecai became even more simpy than he was to Margaret this video is a pitch perfect example of that and in comparison to rigby mordecai is regressing because he never improved from his experience with Margaret he stays the same
I think he was more CONFUSED. Looking at this, I wouldn’t have blamed him at ALL of he absolutely *picked* Mordecai right there. Cause you just HIJACKED dude’s wedding because YOU suck at navigating romance and tried to understand it there.
I think one of the Mordecai's biggest issues is that he's really self centered. Most of his problems in relationships come from the fact he doesn't let things flow, and when they do flow HE thinks it's not going well, or he thinks he wants to be with someone else, so he feels awkward.
@@lapplandkun9273 I think it’s only okay to be self-centered when you *know* you’re not being treated well and deserve better. In Modercai’s case, he was being treated well but he started thinking he deserved *more* rather than *better* which can lead to several problems in a good relationship.
@@lapplandkun9273Yeah, I mean Rigby was really self centered, and the show wasn't hiding how bad his selfish ways would always come back to bite him.😂 But, Mordecai it was him in his relationships mostly, and also falling to Rigby's selfishness.😂 But, completely opposite to Mordecai's love life, Rigby chose and stuck with Eileen but Mordecai just couldn't choose between them two girls. Every time it was CJ, or Margaret. I felt Margaret was the same way too. She had multiple boyfriends and would run back to Mordecai as well. Maybe it was a bird thing on the show.😂
He doesn't deserve Rigby either, he's an even shittier friend than he is a shitty boyfriend to both Margaret and CJ. And yet he still got redeemed. Why? Why redeem someone with no redeeming qualities whatsoever?
The worst part about this is that CJ was actually the best one for him. She was a lot of fun to have around and she gave his life some fun. But of course the Simp side of him wanted Margret
@@ProfessorTakatoPalm Just a fair warning that when you get to the 1000th Chopper Flight Party episode, it shows CJ at her absolute worst in the series. It honestly made me no longer like her as a character from that point onwards.
This episode taught me a very valuable lesson. Sometimes even if you think you can do better, be happy with what you got. Sometimes what you got is better than what you want
It was hard to watch because it was a realistic *well as far as realistic goes in this show anyways* episode, he seriously ruined muscle mans best day of his life. And unlike the times where he killed rigby over a date or used a time machine to get a kissed and back off, there was no thing that fixed mordecai stupidity and selfishness. He. Fucked. Up. And the show knows fully well how far he'll go, and that's why it's painful to watch for viewers and people in the show
Mordecai initially not being supportive that Rigby graduated high school stems from how he stopped him from going to college after getting offered a scholarship letter in the first place.
Actually, that's incorrect. The *real* reason why he was like that was because Mordecai was feeling jealous that Rigby was actually being successful in life while Mordecai was being miserable. For the longest time, it was the other way around. This, of course, stems from his insecurerities, but also his arrogance, something even Rigby calls Mordecai out on when they're making it up right before Rigby's speech in his Graduation This isn’t an excuse, mind you. That's still very messed up & Mordecai rightfully gets called out for it.
Mordecai is the king of self sabotage. He could’ve had something good with CJ but he got greedy and completely disregarded her feelings with this embarrassing stunt.
Mordecai is an incel. He talks himself out of relationships and makes excuses afterwards. If CJ wasn't the aggressive one he would never have got with her.
1. Benson saying “Why are you talking?” probably best summarizes how we felt during that cringe fest. 2. What’s especially sad about this episode is how this is CJ’s last major appearance on the show and it ended on a completely sour note. It’s even sadder when one of the crew members say CJ doesn’t speak to Mordecai or his friends ever again after that. If the entire episode was only about Muscle Man getting married, then it would’ve been a lot better.
What was supposed to be the best moment of the couple's life ended up being all about him & to make it worst, he embarrassed the girl he was dating in front of so many people & made it awkward asf.
I'm usually pretty forgiving of Mordecai since i can relate to his insecurerities & shit, but this time?... Yeah, i can't excuse him here. He had no reason to do this the way he did. He didn’t have to make thia random speech in his co-worker's wedding & dumping CJ, which in turn probably made her feel super embarrassed... This is just... Wow
What makes this episode even worse is that the next episode Dumptown USA Shows Mordecai depressed about CJ dumping him but doesn’t acknowledge that it’s his own fault 🤦🏽♂️
Fr,mordecai turned into an very childish loserzrigby wad willing to learn with his mistakes, ome of them wants to learn, the other is so self centred to the point he cant see himself learning more then whatbhe knows
Like Drake and Josh Josh in the early seasons was a complete dork despite being super smart. While Drake in the early seasons was a lot More Sharp and cool. By the final seasons Drake Is a total airhead playboy, while Josh Is the smart cool and Sharp One.
Love how he even turned the entire situation around to himself instead of muscle man and starla. Man was so self centered about himself he ruined another person's wedding.
And that's his homie you don't do that to your homie at his wedding I'm surprised Muscle Man didn't knock Mordecai out cause I don't know what I would've done.
@@b.a.m.mdoublem1196I wouldn’t have blamed Muscle Man one BIT if he absolutely BODIED Mordecai right there, and Mordedai’s my favorite person from the whole squad at the park😭💀. The social awareness and conduct was TERRIBLE here.
@@dredpool3927 Benson should've fired him long ago, him and Rigby. All the shit Mordecai made to everyone and then this? At his pal's wedding? In front of his boss? Yeah, that's grounds for getting fired.
If he wanted to break up with CJ he should've waited till after the wedding ended & not made a scene. CJ could've easily gone into stormcloud mode instead of crying.
Mordecai had struggled to look past his own selfishness through most of the series. Realistically, he fell into a personal, emotional rut. He was so fixated on his infatuation with Margaret that it even stunted his personal growth. This even grew worse when he would see Rigby, and all of the others around him sailing past on their own personal journeys of growth. I don't think he was irredeemable, but definitely very disappointing, in not turning his gaze inward. Nearly all of Mordecai's growth really only took place at the end of the final episode. I think it's also interesting in that I'm fairly sure J.G. Quintel had based Mordecai off of himself. In a way, some of that could be the creator's introspection on his own internal ugliness that could be explored alongside the rest of the story. We all have our ugly parts, and understanding them helps us to defeat them. But, as a character, Mordecai hardly ever took the time to understand that part of himself.
Tbh seeing Twilights worst break downs this ship makes the best sense tbh. They are both crazy even when they become better people. Crazy is still crazy at soul.
I know Mordecai x Twilight Sparkle is a joke ship but to be honest I can see Twilight Sparkle being paired up with someone else way better than Mordecai lol.
I was focused more on Benson, but I initially did NOT see that all of them were mad a Mordecai like that. This dude is not only a Professional Bag Fumbler, ladies and gentlemen…he is a HALL OF FAME…Bag Fumbler.😭
For me that was bensons line when old mordicai why the hell are you talking. Legitimately could’ve done this any where else but live on stage in front of people no less
I'm not gonna lie I hated Mordeai's in this episode too because it was the fact that he not only hijacked one of his bestfriends wedding , but he also ruined everything himself and the show just made him fix himself off screen through a artificial ending where he just magickly finds love for a random character that no one cares about.
Well yeah, can you imagine how mortifying it must have been to have her boyfriend make a speech about how he hasn’t found his soulmate yet in front of most of the people you know AT A WEDDING? Like CJ or not, that is one of the most humiliating things I’ve seen in a cartoon.
Muscleman was so incredibly chill given the circumstances. This was his wedding day, he and Starla had to go through a dangerous gameshow in order to afford it, and Mordecai pulls this shit? Mitch is a good man.
@@tvgaming2132Let me dtate something stste something worse than that: he had further audacity to ask Rigby for favors to cover him and CJ after all of that.
A lot of people consider season 6 to be the worst season of Regular Show while it did have it moments it had a lot of problems mainly because of the love triangle overall I'd say think this season is meh.
I REALLY didn't like how the creators had to just bring back Margaret like that. I felt like she was barely there for the most part. CJ actually was more of a go-getter she even help Mordecai deal with Thomas (the demon kid not the intern lol)
The one episode that Mordecai deserved a beating from Muscle Man. Not only to make your best friend's greatest moment about yourself, he actually pissed away his girlfriend and his former crush. It's self centered, conceded and egotistical from Mordecai.
Essentially, meanwhile every character was growing as a person, tackling their issues and facing their traumas, Mordecai was the only one refusing to do this... That wedding scene and many other things can be pin pointed at Mordecai being too self-centered for his own good, it hurts to see that basically the only person that caused Mordecai to not tackle the issues that put him in the position he was currently in, was him...
@@titanus261 yes but what the other guy mentioned is much worse, he ruined his best friends wedding, step out of relationships for a sec, and learn to uplift your friend for once, thats an important part of life

@@HiddenmistSwag i just watched season 1 onto half of season 3, I mean technically you can say they always wrote him bad with relationships or when it came to women, but he was more active and always wanted to do right and cared more about rigby
i think it's good that good shows end, because there this thing called 'season rot' where the quality of a plot/jokes becomes too obnoxious compared to the original seasons. it might not happen. despite it ended, atleast it won't become season rot
I wouldn’t say CJ was perfect for him, she kind of was explosive, and blew up over little things, like when then first met mordecai said he just wanted to be friends and she got mad because she thought mordecai was dating margret and then said I don’t think we can be friends anymore. To be fair as the series goes on a CJ gets better but than she kind of goes back to her old explosive self when mordecai betrays her at the Christmas party
Wasn't there an episode later in the show where after Rigby got his GED, Mordecai felt threatened by this because he previously could make fun of him for not having a high school diploma but now they were on equal footing?
Yeah, that was the episode where Mordecai wasn’t being supportive of his friend graduating because apparently he enjoyed being slightly more successful than Rigby, or something like that.
I’ve seen some stupid stuff in my life, but watching Mordecai express himself about his romantic relationship at his friend’s wedding was the most DUMBEST, IRREDEEMABLE, SELF-CENTERED action you could possibly do.
It's technically about the fact that he was asked to do an important speech for his friends wedding day but instead made his love life struggles the topic of the speech. It equate to sabotaging work someone entrust you with
@@temin2776he ruined one of the most important days in his friend’s life by trying to make it all about himself by ranting about how he’ll never find his soul mate all while in front of his girlfriend, all because he couldn’t keep his pants up for Margaret
@temin2776 he made a stupid speech broke up with his gf in public . That's bad enough but he did it at a wedding making everything about himself. If you don't think that's bad he did it at his friend's wedding
What's even sadder is that Mordecai had a healthy and perfect relationship with CJ where he could have been just himself. Being yourself with a partner who accepts you for who you are is proof that they truly love you. Mordecai and Margaret's relationship was highly negative as Mordecai would often suppress who he was and act like the man Margaret wanted to be with. What's even worse is that this is shown when Margaret is somewhat uncomfortable with who Mordecai truly is. Not to mention that she had several boyfriends in the past, all of whom she wasn't compatible with and only dated because she "felt bad for them", which is not an excuse when she should have realized that the person who was calling out to her was right in front of her. Mordecai should have done what Finn has done with Bubblegum. Even though it was a misunderstanding in Finn's case, considering how he can't be with Flame Princess due to her unstable nature, what Finn said is what Mordecai should have done with Margaret considering how she is just going set him up again, which is what actually happened when they agreed to just be friends.
Imagine trying to be a good friend to your bro who had his heart broken, trying to cheer him up and have fun with him and you think “okay maybe things have gotten better, maybe he’s chill now.” So, you trust your bro, you trust him enough to read the note your dead father left for you. You give him one job, one job to be there for you, to have your back, and what does he do? He ruins wedding and makes everything about himself. Now, I don’t know about you but I would lowkey start plotting to kill this man with heavy consideration.
Mordecai's relationships fail because he has terrible communication skills. That's why it took so long to tell Margaret he liked her. That's also why he thought Muscleman's wedding was a good time to break up with CJ.
Its funny how Rigby is labeled the immature one (with some credit behind it), he somehow had a more mature relationship, which single-handedly kicked off his redemption arc for Season 7 and 8
This episode was supposed to be Muscle Man's big day and Mordecai made it all about himself and his insecurities. Couldn't you wait with this until AFTER Muscle Man's wedding, Mordecai? Not cool, bro. Not cool.
This is a life lesson for everyone here. If you are in a happy relationship with someone and your previous crush or ex still has feelings for you. Don't fuck it up with your current one. There is a reason why your previous lover left and what's the chance it would happen again? Mordecai in this situation went for his gut, not his heart.
@@rickyronny4019 You had. •Mordecai who when in simp mode can be an asshole (like him throwing Rigby out in the middle of nowhere just so he could drive halfway across the country to give Margret a sweater that she didn’t cared about, and I could mention that he killed Rigby over her one time but then again, Rigby was kinda asking for it the whole episode, so it’s debatable). •Rigby who was a slacker in the early seasons and while he did slowly improved later on in the show’s run, that kinda didn’t matter when it was revealed that he screwed Mordecai’s chances of going to college and tried to play the victim. Honestly shows on how chill Benson is as a manager as he really just threatens to fire them and even when he does, ether M&R somehow find away to get their jobs back or Pops saves their skins. Realistically them mfs would of been out after they created a black hole by playing Rock Paper Scissors.
Lust isn't the same as being attracted to someone. Lust is "I hate being in a relationship with this person, but I won't break up with them because I like the way they look and the sex is good."
Let’s also talk about how Margaret held her arm out so Mordecai can “ush” her to her seat and she knows he’s still with CJ. She disrespectful. Especially after what happened on the double date.
I like it when Benson says why are you talking as it's a subtle hint that he is more than just an angry boss but really just a regular person. The way he said that wasn't authoritative like a parent telling their kid to stop doing something or else they will be disciplined but rather it felt more like he was on an equal level with Mordecai simply telling him that he shouldn't do something. That's good characterization as it shows Benson is more than the impression we all got from the early seasons.
I think it’s also because the audience tends to think of Benson as cringeworthy outside of his work life. So when the cringe character is cringing at you, you know it’s BAD. 😂
This honestly would’ve never happened if Margaret hadn’t told Mordicai she still had feelings for him at that restaurant. I get that this is where he took the fattest L, but when you really think about it, Margaret should’ve never came back.
I heard from another youtuber named sarcastic chorus that Mordecais' intention was going to say he picked CJ, but his delivery was so god-awful he made it sound like a break-up speech.
Ruining your friends wedding is the worst thing you did Mordecai along with your bad attitude at least rigby is mature when it comes to relationships. Mordecai learn from Rigby since Rigby rizzy king
Regular show hyped up CJ or margaret as one of mordo simp's future wives but he hooks up with neither Mordo marries a girl we know nothing about instead I loved regular show but when mordo's girl troubles become a consistent thing,it becomes an annoyance Rigleen shows true relationship goals
Everyone is always disappointed that it was someone we didn't know but hoestly It's not MY relationship and I'm just happy he found someone he was able to start a nice family with.
1:36 when you said it’s made things complicated I said to myself “ it doesn’t have to be, understand that Margaret’s feelings are valid but you’re with CJ now, she’s your girlfriend, you need to respect her and the relationship”
You know I thought Mordecai and Margaret should be together as Love Birds before, but NO… they just ending up break apart and makes things worst. I’m Freaking Disappointed in THEM. 😠
You know, at this point i'm just gonna start questioning if the writers tried to destroy mordecai's character on purpose here, because i dont belive there's a human being that would do shit like this
I feel it might’ve been, because around this same time Rigby started improving. So maybe they wanted to show Mordecai getting worse so the Graduation fight could make more sense. But IMO that was dumb why not just have them both grow, and yes some of the stuff Mordecai does is just to unrealistic to even be relatable.
Tbf there's a lot of people who would be so self-centered enough to make their friend's wedding about themselves and even destroy their relationships like that
Mordecai was such a jerk with both CJ and Muscle man, he didn't care he was in a freaking wedding and ruined such a great and sweet moment for his friend and humilliated his GF in front of everyone, CJ dodged a bullet tbh.
I know Regular Show is supposed to be this surreal take on being at a mediocre point in your 20s, but by that standard, Mordecai is that friend who seems pretty alright most of the time but then fucks up so impossibly badly you have to cut them off
These later seasons will make you want to clip off Mordecai’s wings, especially with this episode. He should’ve been grateful that he had a girl like CJ.
Personally, I thought he wanted to end things with CJ but either didn't know how to or he didn't know if he wanted to keep things going. A lot say they were good for one another but they mostly acted like friends and didn't go beyond romantic. CJ saw him as a partner but watching this happen and how Mordecai acted afterwards seems like this was self sabotage. Mordecai makes some questionable decisions but he's not stupid, he should've known this was the worse idea.
i think mordecai is a flawed character, but that makes him a very real character. people are out there that are genuinely selfish-think of themselves as losers, but when they watch this show, they can probably empathize with him. they can condemn him for his ridiculous actions, but also would do the same in his shoes. mordecai is a character who lets his emotions control him out of fear, and there are people who do the same who need to watch this show to learn from it
But this, this right here, is a line you should not cross. Everything else seems legit but turning a wedding speech and making it about you rather than the person who is getting married especially your best friend is a scumbag move
@@Blanko_nopico it certainly is. i’m not approving his actions as a character at all, i’m just saying that there ARE people out there in the world that will do that. And maybe this show is for those people that do that so empathize with him, and take a look at their lives. Kind of like how Shinji from Evangelion isn’t the most admirable character, but is able to resonate with so many people cuz of how many people have flaws like him.
@@Blanko_nopico Says the person who is probably the thousands of viewers of this video who just only want to see Modercai suffer... Annoying self righteousness
Why do people conveniently forget that rigby was being an asshole the entire episode all because Mordecai didn't want to go to a movie with him, and they also forget he also pushed mordecai first, if he mordecai wasn't as built has he was he would have died.
Can you blame him for acting the way he did? It wasn't easy for him to get tickets for Zombie Dinner Party. On the last thing you wrote, you make it seem like Mordecai and Rigby pushed each other the same way when Mordecai shoved Rigby off the microwave.
Shameless whataboutism. Does not excuse mordecai's actions at all, and Rigby, out of all his faults, still comes out looking like the better man, embarrassing.
@@artistanthony1007 Bro what are you talking about, someone pushes you and almost kills you what is the first thing you're going to do fight back. What mordecai did was wrong yes but people are acting like he was conspiring to kill Rigby from the start even though he was just defending himself.
Also, it's interesting how Mordacai and Rigby seem to switch places as the show goes on. Mordecai loses his caring attitude and just becomes an obsessive jerk. While Rigby starts to want to better himself more. The epilog part of the last epusode however is absolutely beautiful.
this moment in the show made me not even like mordecai anymore. I liked mordecai because I felt like he kept things in order of his friendship with rigby and it was always funny. But after this I just see how just oblivious and dumb mordecai is. After watching that I rewatched a few more before that and god he is actually oblivious. This episode made me feel bad for CJ, that I can say I agree with and I some what dont like Margret anymore because she just continued to make things just yknow awkward. Like, urging Mordecai to take her to her seat like she didn't just tell his Girlfriend she still had feelings for him? This still falls on Mordecai though because he didn't even think about what he was really gonna say besides dump CJ at HIS BEST FRIENDS wedding. Mordecai can't choose if he wants CJ or Margaret at this point.
in retrospect, i hate mordecai. the episode that really cemented my hatred was rigby’s graduation. who gets mad at their best friend just because you’re jealous of them? not only that but MAN he fumbled cj soooo hard. she is infinitely better than margaret.
I've always had very little sympathy for Mordecai. He always cried and simped over Margret but never did anything about it or had any ambition to better himself. He had a pretty simple job but would always slack off or screw things up and then he got depressed when Margret went to college to better herself while he was content with being a groundskeeper. Maybe he seems like a cool guy to hangout with but once you grow up your mindset changes
The speech Mordecai gave at Muscle Man’s wedding was one of the worst things he did in the series, Muscle Man asked him to read a letter his late father wrote for him for his wedding day. But instead went way, way off the rails in giving some stick about “finding his soulmate” and ended up losing CJ because Mordecai still had feelings towards Margaret. CJ was cool, funny and had lots of fun with Rigby and Eileen but Mordecai messed things up with her a second time but this time they parted ways.
