Good point. "Reality TV" usually has a person pulling the strings in the background to create drama. There isn't a complete script, more like the ideas you see here and letting the actors run with it.

The humiliation is spread equally, if not more so on the actors than Matt, which i think is a saving grace for the show.. its even better knowing the actors aren't even aware of some of the ridiculous, embarrassing tasks they have to do which makes me empathetic to all involved to some degree

It’s not the breathing, it’s just the placebo effect, it’s because he believes she’s an expert so he believes that what she’s telling him is accurate. It’s not like she was instructing him in real breath work, it’s just that he believed that her nonsense was real & that’s what makes it real to him. Gunnar was almost onto it when he talked about shamanism or guru’s. That’s the same effect, it works because people believe it & it doesn’t work for people who don’t. The placebo effect.

You say that someone would say, if they were in the guys place they would figure it out. But unlike Jury Duty things those people do aren’t as crazy as Jury Duty cast did, and normally people in court act more seriously. Even having hand on porn star or whoever that was, is more believable for some TV-show for views, than coming to court with chair-pants(?) and changing them right then and there.

So many people acting so strange in a place like courtroom, wouldn’t make you think that you are in TV-prank show, but that it’s impossible for those to happen so often and to so many for it to be regular. Here however we have them in tv-show like Big Brother, were as shown, people act strangely all the time, making this show more believable than Jury Duty ever was.

I wouldn't know it's fake because they are on the set of a reality show. It's completely believable that people would intentionally cause drama to get attention, or lie about things. A lot of shows also seem to be heavily manipulated behind the scenes so I would assume that the weird things were caused by the producers trying to make thing look interesting for the cameras. This was also before fake reality shows were popular.

The video quality in 2003 was not ass actually. I learned recently(although it makes complete sense and I just didn't think) that all of the shows and media would be astronomically huge in terms of storage data, so they would rerecord/compress the files to make them smaller but in doing so make the quality shit. This probably sounds pretty incoherent, mainly cause I'm busy atm but just a small TIL for y'all that care! Definitely look it up if you're interested to get the non-me-ified goofiness mixed in.

About the breathing process part where pat helped Matt it’s an actual practice for coping it’s not just bullshit. When you go from anger hyperventilating to slow and paced breathes and your body isn’t use to it or tried it can really just be a relaxing thing to talk to someone and just let go

They say that they are giving him his daily interview when everyone else is at the meeting. He's in a room with the door closed and talks with an interviewer and cameras about how he feels about everything that happens. It would be assumed that the interviewer keeps him talking for a minimum amount of time so the production meeting can finish.

Jury duty and this show are like day and night. Jury duty was an entertaining show first and foremost, where everyone was strange and the joke was on them, except the normal guy who had a heart of gold and was the voice of reason. Here they are just trying to humiliate the poor guy and put an insane amount of pressure on him for no fucking reason, and that's the entire point of the show
