The grand opening of our farmstand is finally here after 2 months of working on the roadside stand! We have it filled to the brim with fresh cut flower bouquets and delicious vegetables. But will we sell anything? Will the market stand be a success for us? Or will we spend the weekend working towards achieving our sales goals for our farm business only to fail? Maybe some attention getters outside like smallish triangular flags dotted around in bright colors. People are used to seeing y'all under the tent, which is a big attraction. They might just think the blue door is a gate?

I feel that if you put up more attention seeking signs/flags with GRAND OPENING it would draw more attention. Especially a bit before the stand where people can have a chance to pull in before they are already past. Also, putting more items you have for sale out front for now just to get people to stop and find out the deal. Then in a week or so you won't need to. People are creature of habits. If you get them to stop once they are more likely to do it again. I am routing for you guys! Really hope the store works.

Looking great! I'll make some suggestions marketing-wise that might help boost sales quicker : - You need a "Farm Shop" sign on the blank facade next to the door. You could add a open/closed hanging sign below - you're Red Roof Farm... The door and fascia board of the shop really should be the same red as your roof to keep your branding strong - cash-wise, you could install a strong lockable mailbox inside. - if at all possible, do set up your tent stand next to the shop a couple days a week for the next month or so (maybe at rush hour?) so people are more likely to stop. You can then "sell" them the convenience of the farm shop for future use! - a cctv camera (real or faux) installed inside, covering the cash box will deter theft - put in a sign(s) inside the shop emphasising the freshness, something like "fresh picked 300m away" "restocked x times a day" etc Maybe an aerial photograph with a "picked here!" over your crop area and "you are here!" over the farm shop. I say this because with the location, the house, the fence and surroundings your property doesn't look like a farm from the road.

You need some color! The outside looks a bit bland, especially compared to your bright red tent with all the colorful flowers and veggies. This time of year I bet some pumpkins and winter squash would draw people.

Love the farm stand! I have a small U-pick lavender field on a busy highway in Oregon. There’s a locking mailbox attached to a post with instructions for cutting. It’s also on the honor system. We saw a big increase in customers after adding signs 1/8 of a mile either direction. People mentioned that it was just enough advance notice before stopping. Your veggies look delicious and I love your bouquets!!! Best of luck! Good luck

For a car driving at 80 miles .. you will need a lot more eye catching attractions from far.. here in Florida .. I see citrous stands on I-95 with huge bags with plastic oranges hanging all over the front looks like fresh .. people stop just by being tempted with those bags .. have a canopy or colorful awning in the front.. the signs should be I. Maroon red and green .. to catch the eyes .. red roof of your house should be continued to your stand somehow .. it’s catchy .. have a few evergreen potted plants by the front .. I am thinking many of those who are buying flowers may eat out a lot or buy veggies cheaply from big stores and unaware of the taste of your local produce .. give them ideas .. like hummus next to bell peppers Carrots and cucumbers .. we Indian love to cook a lot of veggies .. always for every meal, although some of us are non veg !!! Not sure about that habit among people here !! They rather buy a bag of precut veggies for a quick meal .. or something .. none of my colleagues eat veggies like I do .. and I grow my own in Florida with massive heat and the Sun 😳🙄

If you know an artist, a couple of large bright coloured paintings on your lovely white fence would catch peoples attention. One with flowers one with veggies & Fruit would let people know to watch for when you are open.

That was one of the fist things my wife and I thought. You have a massive free billboard on both side you could get creative and it would catch people’s eyes as they drive by. They might not stop initially but they will remember the fence and it will become a sort of landmark in the area. Congratulations!

Love your lighting inside. I would agree that your stand blends into your fencing. I'd change the door to red and paint open on the inside with farm name. Add a veggie/flower mural so it's eye catching. Not sure if you have the room to put a ladder type display for your bouquets, but it might free up some more counter/wall space. Most definitely add signs 1/4 mile down the road so they can start slowing down. Even something as corny as "Does your sweety need a bouquet today?". Love your obtaining your goals.

You should make it more visible. Put glass front doors and front walls so people can see all that color. Also, put signs displaying the varieties for veggies and flowers available right on the road - multiple signs along the road.

You could consider putting holes in the bouquet table so the buckets slide in... Preventing them from toppling over, plus lowers the flowers for better top viewing.

When you add your signs. Maybe have a list/or calendar showing what you are expecting to provide in the coming weeks. That way folks can see you'll have x vegetable available next week, and they'll know they can get it from you. Not knowing would limit my spending. Also, maybe use the inside of your door with a sign, if allowed. You can write something up that would only be visible when the door is open.

I bet you’ll have tons of traffic once word spreads and people start seeing you as a stop on the way home/out option. My local stands operates on the honor system, there’s a locked cash box and it’s just open all the time with the farmers coming and going. It’s pretty cool knowing I can just pop over there whenever instead of waiting for a farmers market, we have 3 in one area with varying offerings so it’s such a fun little morning trip. And mine don’t have dope flower arrangements, I wish I could visit yours too!

Paint FARMERS MARKET in red on a 20 foot banner along the fence to the right of shed. To left of shed do another white banner with red letters listing the fruits and veggies that you sell. Align pumpkins for sale on tables outside door.

Congratulations on getting the stand up and running. It looks great, and I'm sure it will be speeding away with sales very quickly, but I may have been tempted to have the doors red, because it would match your roof, and what people are already used to seeing with your portable stand. It's a shame you don't have a load of funky pumpkins to dress the outside with too, but I guess they could be pretty difficult growing in your heat, and their water requirements? I absolutely loved that dark red sunflower bouquet!

I work on a 130 acre berry farm in their market. I think you might want to consider bringing in some locally grown food items that you don't grow, but could buy for wholesale from local farms. Our farm sells locally raised honey, hazelnuts, walnuts, handmade soap using locally grown plants and essential oils, and flash frozen pies, cobblers, and frozen fruit made with all locally grown fruit. The pie company even supplies the display freezer. I think it actually helps us with our bottom line because many of those vendors will even allow you to buy on consignment. Your investment in those items is offering a small amount of space. That might actually help you bridge some of the off season gap.

Have you thought about painting the door red? Red means ‘stop’ and might make people look at farm stand when they are driving by because it’s so bright. Also it’s on theme with ‘Red Roof Family Farm’ and your red roofed canopy. I love the blue color you picked out, it’s really pretty:) but the red might help with advertising.

Congratulations! Love the new road side stand. One thing I think would help to catch people's eye is to set up your RED tent and the place large rectangular signed with black writing on the side. The light blue you have is hard to read when driving quickly thru the area. Red and Black will pop and catch the eyes of those fast drivers.

Also, plant some low evergreen bushes on either side of the stand to help make it feel warm and inviting. During the Fall, you can decorate on either side with pumpkins and hay bales to also catch the eye of those fast drivers.

Suggest signage on both sides of road a distance before shop so they slow down~ ie: “farm stand ahead 50 yds.” Maybe an open house? Chalk board outside with specials…like ye we have fresh corn, or pumpkins! I think you need more visible produce….. winter produce? Love you guys!

Host a grand opening week of the farm stand with your usual table merchandised and set up. It will help attract attention and aid in the cross over. And you can introduce your customers to it in person.

Paint stand red. People are used to seeing you red. Put some things outside as an eye catcher. Paint some flowers veggies on your fence and change the color of your sign, there's a reason road signs are the color and size they are. Use them as your models. Advertise while you are at the market, letting your customers know the stand is now open in case they forgot anything.

This is excellent. I reckon you need to put some signs a little further up the street before people get to your house though. That's what most roadside stands have around here - so you've got a second to think about stopping before you pass it!

I would paint the front of your shelves with chalk board paint, and the back wall part and that way you can change your prices easily and what they are from day to day, week to week without needing to print anything out each time. It is looking good

When I worked at a garden center, all the employees parked in front of the building in the morning. As customers showed up, we moved our cars to the back of the lot. People will stop more often if they see a car already there. So park your own car out front sometimes!

you can still put tent outside the shop and display veggies that are not easily dried out because of heat. use red paint.. easy to see even from a far or use colorful balloons to catch attention of the traffics. you can also have big tarpaulin on the side wall. just a suggestion. stay safe

The flowers are beautiful and the vegetables look wonderful. A problem I see is that you don’t have signage on the front of your building identifying what’s going on. A small table out front with some of the vegetables, showing the variety that you have I think would get peoples attention. Great, I hope you do well. I read a lot of your comments people have given you a lot of good ideas to sell. My idea is to spruce up the outside to make attractive. On inside your veggies should be on slanted trays and your shelves could be closer together, they could be slanted. Your flowers could be on the floor and have at least 2 slanted shelves of veggies where you have the flowers. This is to improve attractiveness of veggies so you sell more. The flowers sell them self. You could sell a veggie box for a salad. You could sell a "Veggie Bullet" as well as " Juicers". You could have salad bags ready to eat greens. Ideas!

You may needs signs a starting a mile away. I love stopping at road side stands but only do so when I have forewarning. "Fresh veggies for sale in one mile." There are even some that will have pictures of veggies/eggs every quarter of a mile or so. I also think the farm stand needs something more. Maybe pictures of veggies along the fence, a banner or some other type of signage. Even if I did have forewarning that your stand was coming up, I don't thing I would recognize your stand as my destination in time to stop. A lock box bolted to the wall or something would be good and maybe a "fake" camera.

Its not necessarily for ever, but we can't do all the things until we get Serina's health back on track. Flowers have consistently been 2/3 of all our sales this year.

With that long fence, if you have signs you can hang saying "Tomatoes," "Pepper," etc. then passers by will know what you have inside the building, Then having an instagram for posting each morning for what you have can be helpful - I've seen other people do that.

Congratulations on completing your farm stand. I wouldn’t be discouraged that flowers have been your main sellers for this first week, as far as spontaneous purchasing goes, flowers verses carrots or tomatoes it’s easier to justify. Now being consistently open and Ian spruiking The farm stand to every customer at the farmers market, hopefully regular repeat customers will be the norm. Since you both love garlic, have you ever tried making garlic braids? Or dried strings of chilli. Not sure on the popularity in your area but a great saleable wall decoration and higher value veggie items. Some notes. Obviously things will change over time as you figure out what your needs are (and videos only show a tiny insight) and time and money constraints. A wifi camera/motion sensor on the doorway could allow a quick check if anything needed restocking before physical going to the stand. Do you have a air curtain over the door? Aswell as reducing bugs and dirt it should help keep the ac air inside and reduce the load on the ac unit. When the stands due for a repaint in a year or two, if you wanted to smooth out some of the dark ‘gaps’ that appear between the joints in carpentry, fill with spackle or silicone etc then paint for a smoother finish.

As others have said, put signs up down the road a bit so people can see it before they drive by. It also gives them a little time to think about what they might need. If I see a stand as I drive by I’m not going to turn around just to see what they have. I know you also have fruit trees, maybe consider offering fruit also when it’s in season? I don’t know if you have time for it but maybe making jams and jellies in the off season for sale in the next season would help? Maybe making and canning some salsa with your abundant tomato production would also add some variety. When I visit a farm stand I like to see a variety of different products offered for sale. You wouldn’t have to go into a full production line, but storing and making product for future seasons like you do with your dried flowers make take you a destination place to stop? Maybe you can make a deal with a local honey producer to sell their product at your stand? Pumpkins and gourds and corn stalks might also grab some attention? I don’t know if any of our suggestions will help but I sincerely hope so.🌺💚🙃

Tips based on what I see: Way way bigger signage, needs to be like 10x bigger. Consider utilizing the white fence for signage or art purposes, you could artistically represent all the good veggies available vs having them outside, or have some mega front facing signage. Other things to consider would be on either edge of the property putting as big a sign you can facing that side of oncoming traffic to give them more a chance to brake, still would do as big as humanly possible. Overall I think it's looking great and love what y'all are doing, I think once you can grab the attention of oncoming traffic as far out as possible you'll be set, and if you did so super artistically you can then leverage that in your digital marketing campaigns.

The stand is designed to be cool inside. If it was open, it would be an oven, and then we could only sell cooked flowers and food, lol

I think you should grow pumpkins for next year, they will sell in the fall and be a welcoming advertisement for your stand from the road

I think if you can make a bug color advertising at the road with some veggies and flowers it will help. People can see them from far away. you can paint it on plywood.

For next year, consider having more fall items like pumpkins,squash and potatoes. Maybe consider having some farm cheese varieties.

yes guys your traffic is to fast you not only need lots of signs on the fence to brighten it up but you need several hand painted signs scattered down the road to give them a heads up to slow down for a safe stop. sold produce roadside most of my life and signs scattered down the road will change every thing

Try to make your farm interactive for families. you can attract consumers by letting them pick the food they want to buy in the farm themselves. Flowers sell more because of last minute buying but food shopping always is done with other errands. But if you create a family outing activities in your farm you will attract more people i think

You need movement. Flags and windmills. Bright red name on the fence. The tent will make it so that you give people the time to react to what they see. Now they see the stand and they are to late to react. More live a round the stand.

The stand is a great idea, but you need to cut back the branches on the right side of the stand. You have a wonderful traffic on your street but they don't have enough time to stop because they can't see around that bunch of branches. They can't see the stand until after you come pass the branches and then it's too late to stop please trim down or cut down those branches. 🌱🌿🌱🌿🌱🌿

Maybe you put a sign up outside mentioning some of the veggies, like: NOW IS THE SEASON FOR: Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Basil ..... AND our wonderful FLOWERS (with Foto)

OMG your beautiful children dancing just made my day!! That was awesome!! It looks amazing! Congrats! Hang in there with time you will have lots and lots of customers. Ive shopped at self service places like this a lot and I just love it. They were out of my way but as soon as I heard either through advertising, social media or someone telling me about it I was hooked!

That cooled farm stand is awesome! My advice is to drive quickly by in your vehicle and see if you can read your sign. My rule of thumb is that if the sign is so big, the lettering so large, and the colors so gaudy that you feel embarrassed, then you’ve got the right sign for a roadside stand. Also, people see the flowers outside and so people who want flowers will be stopping and buying flowers. A sign that says Fruits Veggies Flowers would help. Think Billboard.

Love the upbeat guitar music! Your shed blends in too much! It looks like part of the fence. Put some flowers and bright veggies out there until you get on people’s radar. Just my thoughts! Glad you guys are getting the roadside stand back up and running!

Put a grand sign with pictures of vegetables and flowers on it..I would never know that you had any thing for sale in there... paint the word open on that blue door... umbrellas with product under them ...
