First upgrade I'd make: new metal-geared servo. I've had a few Traxxas servo failures, and the last thing I'd want is a steering failure at 80+. Really excited about the new changes for aerodynamics and downforce. Great vid!

I find that logistics centers tend to be better for speed runs, since, at least in my area, the grounds tend to be made of concrete which is smoother and more uniform than asphalt. Also, the added benefit of nice long straight stretches with no passthrough car traffic. I had a quick job at one near my house, and when I finished, I asked the contact if he minded if I do a few speed runs with my RC car. He was cool with it, and asked me if I raced, noting that his son races RCs. I was able to get my stock Typhon 6S to 69mph with the stock pinion, and this was with the added weight of my Samsung Note 9 secured inside the chassis, since it has the speed app I was using. I haven't tried the high tooth speed pinion yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing how much of a difference it makes. Logistics centers FTW.

Same, when I got the email one was on the way, I was kinda thinking modified Sledge. But it was a tweaked car. That’s ok, it works better now. I gave my last one to a friend. Keeping this one and yeah, I want to try a few tweaks, including a tire swap.

That Traxxas is awesome! I was thinking about the jitters he was referring too. That could be caused by several situations. There were a few incidents during initial driving, so if there is any play in the steering or front suspension components, that could show. The steering servo saver could also be tightened up if that won't break the servo gears in an impact. You could also adjust the front suspension to minimize the jitter. There appears to be 3.5° caster, not including the front suspension arms of it is there. So maybe thicker oil in the shocks could help, or less caster, but that helps with high speed stability.

I’ve learned from this clip ….. 1) it’s best to look ahead of the car when driving it in a parking lot with bumps and rocks in it. This way you don’t crash twice in the parking lot. The second crash is confusing - the box says expert level so….. 2) it’s best to survey the speed run spot before you take any RC down at high speed. This way you can’t discover bumps in the road after the fact. Also just as important is a nice wide and flat spot where visibility is clear. No slow mo of the car flipping / just like the old one did because he even said it “flew in the air” - if he does all of his speed runs at that spot - wouldn’t he have known about a bump? That Xo1 did exactly what it’s done many times over the years - it caught air. This why we don’t see the bump or slow motion or anything. It flies in the face of the whole aerodynamic improvements 😂😂😂😂 He should’ve done the speed run in the very first lot in the clip. 🤔go figure. 3) the entire “review” is a near word for word read from the Traxxas description and unboxing. Easy to see why he gets review cars. Shame on Traxxas for giving us a few nips and tucks on a decade old car with the same exact electronics. Was hoping an all new XO2 would be Traxxas answering the success of the Limitless. Instead we get another XMaXX “8s conversion kit” - remember that BS ??… 😂😂.

@@rcdriver I know. Lots of them are bumpy and just full of rocks! I run mine in front of the house and the 1/10th scale you can hear the rocks. Not so much with the 1/8th and 1/7th scale cars. It's all fun. A little bit of blowing off with the air hose and their like new.

I had this JONK rc car. It would always spin out, I don't believe it will do no more than 80. I never got over 60 with mine on a road I did 127 with my limitless. This car was the biggest lie traxxas ever made in the rc world. Nothing but JONK!!!! ESC would not unlock, you have to send it in to Traxxas to have it unlocked, that is what they told me. I would only use it for a crash test.

I’ve given these a thought before but always dismissed it. I mean why get one? What you just did in the video is all most people really do, and you damaged it within the first ten minutes. That’s probably what would happen to me as well if I took it to a place with curbs. You basically destroyed a brand new car in ten minutes. Okay you fixed it but deep down you know it’s jacked up there. Unless you have access to a track with turns etc and no curbs to cause damage, I can’t see one of these cars being anything more than a shelf Queen after the first test drive.

I would think for the price and age of the XO Traxxas would do something new and exciting. I can't put my finger on it. Maybe the 90's color paint scheme, or maybe the body. I just wanted something new.

It's a shame that no one uses the XO-1 for high end speed runs. Arrma chassis' are so compatible with aftermarket parts, while traxxas is so proprietary.

@@fondfarewell2 Look at the motor placement. Like all traxxas, its limited to how big of a motor you want to run. Arrma has it set up say you want to have your motor and esc on the same side, it's easily flipped. Everything on this thing has "its spot". I wouldn't say $800 is too expensive. If you're serious at all about speed running, $800 could be just getting started especially since a high dollar rx/tx that some people use is $700

People should take this as a statement of what this car is capable of. You are an experienced driver and it can still get away from you. This is why they make you go through so much to make it do 100 mph cause if a younger little experience person got their hands on one could seriously injure someone.

You talk about hurting someone with the car at speed, what does the xo-1 weigh? Like 5-7lbs? Don't get me wrong, that'd hurt like hell but, I have the losi dbxl-e 2.0 and it's not hard to get that thing over 60 mph (some have gone over 100 mph) with a weight of over 30lbs (mines weighs close to 40lbs) and have gone 66mph with it. Trust me, you don't want to get hit by that at full throttle.

@@Blueknight1960 Well I have a Losi 5ive T the weighs 38 dry weight, Arrma outcast 8s that weighs 24 without batteries, two Losi Super Rock Reys that weigh 20 pounds and do 55 mph, and a Super Baja Rey that weighs 20 pounds that does 62 mph so i know all about that. The issue is it is easier to react to an RC doing 60 mph than it is to react to an RC going over 100 mph.

That car even the original one was underrated to a degree . You see it was way more fun to bash it in stock gearing in the parking lot then it was to do speed runs with the larger gearing . It goes from zero to 50 mph plus in an instant . It’s an absolute riot !! I am going to upgrade mine to all the new parts and the get tsm for it !!

Spend money to go fast 💨 what an age we live in. A guy can go drop $1000 and a few hrs later be breaking 100 mph... I'm working up a limitless right now, personally I enjoy the journey, the build and truly knowing what it takes to go fast. Traxxas priority parts are the biggest draw back I see to this platform. I have a couple XO-1s and the only real issue I had, was the ridiculous amount of steering slop the platform has. Though, shims solved that, and they're a blast to run!

When this first came out hitting 100mph was not common in the rc world. Nowadays..... you can drop a castle system on a properly geared beater and hit 100mph. With that said... x01? Meh...price better not be 800$?? I think it was. Totally not worth it. More like 400$

Looks Like it’s still just as unstable as it’s always been. you need perfect conditions in order to achieve 100 miles an hour and even then it’s tricky.

9:06 one little crash and it’s cracked the bumper 🤦🏾 I hope everyone is paying attention to this video before buying one of these and setting it up on your residential street 😂 it will literally last 2 mins in an environment like that. You need access to an abandoned runway to really enjoy this car…. It’s a shame but I see the business sense behind making this available to everyone 😂😂😂

I am in agreement with another commentor that the hoops are to keep less experienced drivers from doing serious harm if they lost control of the car. Even just clipping someone with it at 80mph+ is going to send them to the ER. I'm sure all those lawyers they have on payroll had a say in that decision. I am surprised at the Castle ESC considering how dedicated they are to keeping everything in house. Did you hit a bump or did it just take off, cause the thud in the video seemed to be the landing not the launch?

The XO1 is a great looking car, but we have nowhere to drive something like that. 100+ mph is cool and all until you realize the car gets very small very fast and the road suddenly seems much narrower!

This RC car is still horrible! Want a great RC car that won't cost you almost 1G Get Hobao VTE2 1/7 The reason this rc car has no control is because traxxas hasn't figured out that putting the center diff in the middle gives you excellent power distribution to all wheels. That gives you stability. See the end of the speed run how it floated in the air. That happens when you get too much air inside the body. Want a real pro speed run Rc? Try Sagacustomrc this cat walleye just about anything for a Hobao 1/8 to 1/7 Rc car. Delta Plastik rc bodies. You don't buy a speed run car. YOU MAKE ONE. THATS WHERE THE FUN IS.

Traxxas with a money grab. We already made all those changes on our xo1’s. I even made the first belt drive xo1. This is an extremely disappointing update. We were are all wishing for something much more than this nonsense.

Not much upgrades in this new version. Still full plastic, slow and weak servo 2075 is a joke in this truck. Together with a Traxxas slow response radio i can not imagine take this on the onroad track. It's still only street basher again :-( Is it also 8S capable? ESC can, motor should also. I expected more inventions. The biggest change is rear bumper, other things can have old version also by upgrades. Hmm 10 years of development. Its joke but today is not 1st of April. 948,00 € is the price in our Country. Sorry, i rather take Arrma Limitless and with the electronic price will be still lower. Or Infraction on street bash. Its shame because I like Traxxas products, i have Slash and Sledge, but this is not competitive in It's category. But thanks for review :-)

Yea high speed on road cars are a whole other thing, I recently got one and idk if it was just mine, but it was set up very poorly by traxxas. I mean very poorly.. everyone do yourself a favor and just go over everything, gear mesh, tire mounting, range test etc

I think with add some upgrades it could be a speed run contender car. I don't think it will be in the lead with the arrma chassis cause it's alot of upgrades made for it but if Traxxas take the hear say from their customers they could put some nice upgrades of their own for speed runs. I think the tires is a big issue with the body also 🤔 that's why the limitless body is so nice with speed runs. Make another body and some upgrades put a xlx2 in there and a 1650 and see what happens. Maybe to light in the front for a 100mph car that was the reason it took off in the air all the weight is in the back.

Good review 👍🏽. This car looks better with the new spoiler. I still think for that price it should have come with the 2255 400oz servo and rubber tires and not slicks. Airborne machine.

Not much of an upgrade... for that price, spend it on a LIMITLESS (even a HOBAO VTE2) and customize it to your preference, way above 100mph and very stabilize runs ...

I hate to say it but I’m somewhat disappointed, A lot of people say that but I truly am I was thinking Traxxas was gonna come up with a different platform to answer for the infraction felony and limitless 😞

when you hit 90mph did you do anything to the car to get it to go 90mph

Slicks seem a bad choice of tire, either on cold rubber or slower speeds (not going for a speed run). All the 1/7 scale street bashers have this problem. The Arrmas do not have true slicks and teh XO-1 being so much lighter just can't put the weight down on its slicks to grip.. unless you are going for a speed run.. Could use some street treaded radials. 1/8 scale GT tires should work fine it a bit small. Foams will fix the side sliding issue, but they wear out FAST.

been had thiz upgrade. at high speed. xo1 filps. u got to change the body. been drag RACING. MY OX 1 for 5 year. on 6s. haven’t lost to know arrma cars. and including. the arrma. limitless that was on 8s. real talk. my xo1. is making. 11hp.

All XO's need shimming, some front extra weight and a few tweaks two hit three digits. Out of the box is not ready for the hundred + miles.

Just watching this again to get an idea of how the new car handles and compare it to the old one which is what i have. I thought of selling my old one which is currently a roller and maybe buy one of the new ones but i have already spent money on mine what i might do is buy the new body and maybe the new batch tires for mine. I plan to run a Castle MMX 8s ESC with 1717 1,650KV Motor, A metal gear amazon servo and a Radiolink RC8X radio system on mine to make my roller worth the cost.

Yeah thats not a car to be driving around in a parking lot or a b road, at least not if you wanna use It for what It Is, and thats reaching a 100mph "out" of the box on a nice flat smooth and long piece of tarmac, everything else on this car Is pointless, cause if you start breaking things, It doesnt matter that much in a slower car, but in a car doing a 100mph It does, even if Its just a toy one, the forces involved a that speed are huge, over 60mph Aero does matter, this Is not a basher, Is More of an airstrip kind of thing 🤷

Arrma has an absolute banger out with the Limitless - they thought of almost everything wrt upgradability and 3rd party components. But, Traxxas' business model is RTR with a steady side income of parts chain - so not surprised about the XO-1.
