Fun fact: A local guitar maker in the Philippines manufactured those guitars and basses specifically for them as signature instruments. That demonstrates how important this band is to us Filipinos.

Typecast was the frontliner of the emo and post-hardcore genre movement in the Philippines when the said rock subgenres became popular here in 2007, along with Chicosci (away from their nu-metal phase). Frontman Steve Badiola's singing voice is heavily influenced by Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba.
No no. It started way earlier than 2007. Chicosci gained notoriety starting 2002 when they won Song of the Year (NU Rock Awards). Typecast also won the same award but in 2007 or 2006 and both bands were already mainstream by 2007. The emo/punk pop genre was already booming before 2007 as I recall local radios replaying songs over and over again early 2000s.

I am so proud of Typecast. They're from my city of Laguna. Specifically Pacita, in the Philippines. I was able to see them in a small studio, through a window, when I was in High School. When we recorded something for my High School Project.

Yep, Typecast is one of the reknowned Rock Bands in Asia. Thanks for reacting to their Boston Drama live set at Wishbus! By the way, they changed their Drummer like almost a decade ago iirc due to the OG one from their Boston Drama MV had domestic/ battery issues with his wife.

i feel the one ok rock vibe here... pinoy ako pero first time ko sila marinig... not sure tho... maybe heard them before di ko lang alam na sila pala yun. i guess i've been missing a lot haha... need to check more of their stuff now
Can you please, please listen to Tom’s Story and Tide/Edit. They are mathrock bands. Maybe a podcast on mathrock across other countries will be nice too. I love Tom’s Story’s Mugatu (you can listen to the live one at Stage Sessions). I hope they make another album.
