Sydney had a New York style urban rawness that is missing nowadays.Rustic infrastructure that added warm character to this metropolis and with far more layed back culture than now.I am lucky I got to enjoy a taste of it during my childhood in the 1980s.Then the 1990s arrived and the end was nigh. The sterile feel set in.

I'll take this any day over the traffic we currently have

Sydney was a much different, and much better place in those long gone days... Ahh what memories of Hydrofoils, old Sydney ferries, red single deck trains, and the buses!

I whas 22 when I came as a german migrant to Sydney. Its long ago now. It whas my best time. Thanks for refreshing my memory. Bloody hell, what a good time I had. Working and living. Now back in Germany I have something to remember. God bless Australia.

Hydrofoil was so cool. Don't recall the red one though. Amazing to see the absence of damn graffiti and stupid 'Tagging' by brainless vandals. I think people had respect for themselves, others and Police then. What have we become now.

I miss the old days!!! Where common sense is enough and OHS didn't exists ie. trains not closing doors while in motion and it was lots of fun those days before technologies!!

I remember going to school on Sydney's Northern Beaches, on those Atlantean buses. This was in the early 1980s.

My father worked on the ferries when this was made...I'm going to show him this, he'll go nuts!

well, well, such is life. I went back to Germany because of my ill father. And after he died, I was looking after my mother. So time went on. 1987 I went back to Aussie for holiday. Again 1988 and the last time 1995. I turn 70 this year and maybe I make it ones more, I reckon, to come to down under. I take it easy now - no worries, - I love Germany - my first love is Australia. Well, the first cut is the deepest - fair dinkum.
