Already have a matte box, but might get the 95mm version of this as a quicker and lighter system with no color cast as it seems vs garbage PolarPro basecamp I have "will switch to Freewell Eiger".

Great video! It might just be me, but is there a way to screw in the filter so the ND strength markings are at the top instead of the bottom or side?
@itmeremy
@itmeremy 4 месяца назад
Thanks. Where the markings are seems to be determined by the thread on the lens (or step up ring), on my 24-70mm it goes pretty much where it's supposed to with the markings on top, but on my 20mm with a step up ring, it's a bit off to the side

Is there a polarising system embedded in the VND or should get it seperate? And could that affect on the vignetting and colour accuracy? Thanks
@itmeremy
@itmeremy Месяц назад
@elaroussinoureddine9801 VNDs are generally also polarisers, which can cause issues sometimes. You cannot control the polarisation separately from the ND, though. If you add a separate filter, you could see some vignetting because you're stacking filters further away from the lens. I'm not 100% sure about this but adding essentially a 3rd polariser, may add to the ND effect, making it significantly darker, maybe
@elaroussinoureddine9801
@elaroussinoureddine9801 Месяц назад
@@itmeremy so, what would you recommend to get the nice blue colours of water and sky in a sunny day?
@itmeremy
@itmeremy Месяц назад
@elaroussinoureddine9801 For video, an ND is kind of necessary for outdoor shooting. There are other VND/CPL combo filters which could work. Or you could go with a polariser and a set of solid NDs

Mine just came in the mail today and I went to test it out, and I noticed some strong vignetting in the corners. Seemed to be the 1/4 mist because when I took it off I didn’t see anymore. Have you experienced this as well? And if so is there anyway to avoid it?
@itmeremy
@itmeremy Месяц назад
@anthonysosa6792 that can happen on wide lenses when you stack multiple filters. The further out the filters are from the lens, and the wider the FOV of the lens, the more likely you are to see some vignetting. There's not really any way to avoid it apart from not stacking all the filters, or not shooting on such wide lenses.

Does the plastic protector front cap always fall off? I have a hard time leaving the filter on because the black cap can’t stay on 😢
@itmeremy

I've had no issues with the front cap falling off. It seems like it's a slightly looser fit than the filters themselves, but not enough to be an issue for me

Excellent video...thanks. I have the True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop VND Filter (77mm). If i get the Swift System Adaptor Ring, can I press this VND filter on to the 77mm adaptor ring? I switch between taking video and still photos frequently in wildlife situations and need to avoid screwing the VND off and on the lens if possible. Thanks...
@itmeremy
@itmeremy Месяц назад
@dragonredlodge no, that's not how that works. The adaptor is so you can use other Swift filters without the VND base, because the VND is the one filter in the system with a thread, so you have to screw it on no matter what. You could do that with the 4 stop solid ND, but not the variable one

I really need a proper off the fence opinion. I've just brought a Sony fx30 to start my RU-vid channel. It's my first proper camera, I've been trying to research Nd filters but it's confusing and an absolute mind field. Would you recommend I buy the nisi Nd filters kit or it there a better variable Nd? Thanks
@itmeremy
@itmeremy 5 месяцев назад
It's the best one I've used but I haven't really used that many so it's hard to tell. I really don't think it'd be that big of a deal which one you go with. It's not going to be noticeable in the shot, you'll probably notice the difference when using it more than anything. But even then, if you haven't used a VND before you won't know any different. I've had this NiSi one for several months now and have had no issues. I'm sorry I can't give you a more direct answer but I honestly don't think it matters that much, as long as you get a good quality one, you'll be fine.
@harshavardhan7277
@harshavardhan7277 2 месяца назад
@itmeremy After going through all the comments and your answers to them i believe i can use a third party mist filter and third party 4/5 stop ND filter along with the NISI VND? This way i can only order the NISI VND and use my existing filters and doesnt have to throw them. Hope they work fine without any issues. Am i correct?
@itmeremy
@itmeremy 2 месяца назад
@harshavardhan7277 you could do that if they go behind the Swift VND because it does not have a thread on the front. If you get the regular 1-5 stop VND (not the Swift one) then you can do whatever you want because it's just a normal filter. It's just the Swift filters specifically only work with other Swift filters because of the press-on design
@harshavardhan7277

Should I buy an 82mm for all my lenses? My smallest lens is 55 mm
@itmeremy
@itmeremy 4 месяца назад
I think it more depends on what your biggest lens is. I think it's a good idea to get filters in the size of your biggest lens (or biggest lens you're likely to get in the future) because bigger filters work fine on smaller lenses, but not the other way around. If you do get 82mm, just get a step up ring to 82mm from the sizes of each of your other lenses. I wouldn't recommend stacking step up rings

Shouldnt the black pro mist be closest to the lens, before the other filters?
@itmeremy
@itmeremy Месяц назад
@Buwuhbuwuh well you can't put it behind the VND, you could definitely put it as the 2nd filter. Is there a particular reason that you think it should be the closest to the lens?

Hi ! Nice. It’s possible to put the VND after the Mist filter ?
@itmeremy
@itmeremy 4 месяца назад
Not with this system, no. The VND is threaded like any other filter, the additional filters (mist, ND16) have the press on function and no threads at all
@vladkafilms

@@itmeremy so now I don't understand, I put a normal black mist 1.8 on the lens and screwed a nisi nd filter on it, and it holds :-)
@itmeremy
@itmeremy 4 месяца назад
@vladkafilms yeah that makes sense. Most regular filters will have a thread on both sides so another mist filter would technically work, underneath the Swift VND. But you wouldn't be able to put a Swift system filter behind the VND

I really don't understand why the ND 4 stops filter doesn't have a front thread that would allow you to attach any softening filter
@itmeremy
@itmeremy 4 месяца назад
It's because it's a Swift system specific filter. So you can add any swift filter on the front like the 1/4 mist one in this kit. I get what you mean though, it'd be nice if you could screw on more filters but then I don't think the press on system would be able to work
@mariohazard821
@mariohazard821 4 месяца назад
@@itmeremy I must admit that I prefer the Tiffen mist to the Nisi, so the fact that I can't use the selected filter is frustrating. It is also strange because 1-5 stops have a normal thread
@itmeremy
@itmeremy 4 месяца назад
@mariohazard821 that's fair. You could always put your non swift filter behind the VND because you screw that one on. The non Swift VND will have a thread because it's just a normal screw on filter. The point of this system is to not have to screw filters on as much. The Swift VND has a thread on the back because it's the base of the system and something has to screw directly into the lens

@ByHiranya I do also notice a bit of vignetting at 24mm. I don't think there's much you can do about it besides zooming or cropping in in some way. That's one of the issues with wide lenses, so many filters cause vignetting
