Hey everyone. Getting a lot of comments asking what this is. It is a native American gorget. Here is a link that tells you a little about what they are. arrowheads.com/gorgets-and-pendants-stone-ornaments/
Bro I’m not hating…Congrats on your find, but I just feel that it would be easier for you to explain wtf it is you found without giving a link to an overly complex explanation of what the artefact is! I’m watching RU-vid on a television and cannot “click” on links. I’m excited for you but I had to wait to find out what you found and the link you’re providing doesn’t really explain an age or significance of the find 🤷♂️ Best luck in the future, cheers 🍻🇦🇺
@@TheCreekHuntsman you added a link to make it easier for those of us who aren’t familiar with the item. The link you added was not exactly explanatory. I’m simply suggesting that you could have mentioned that it’s a hair brush or a broach. If you’re going to upload content at least explain what the content is about. Rather than just adding a link or recommendations to google. 5 seconds of yourself explaining saves your viewers minutes of wasted time.
Super cool! Know what would be even cooler? If you either A, said what it is in the video, B, said what it is in the title of the video, C, said what it is in the video description. I had to search the comments to find out that it is a Gorget, which I have no idea what that is, but judging by knowledgable commenters it must be pretty rare to find one in tact. Congrats!
Excitement got the best of me. I will be more educational with my videos in the future. Thank you. I've also edited the title and description. I appreciate you weighing in.
You know what would be even cooler than that? If morons who were just scrolling YT and came across a video that they had no clue about didn't think that the world revolved around them. ;-)
@@TheCreekHuntsman Pa hunter here as well, congrats to you young man !! This IS a stellar find, been hunting lithics since 69 and have only found a half gorget. Happy for you and stay safe out there.
Man....yea what u said..... OMG LoL.....that's the killer, of most killers I've ever seen,....the damage means nothing.... especially on a piece like that.....that's so bad a**.......I've been an addict since I was old enough to know what an arrowhead looked like,....it's truly my favorite thing to do.....NE Louisiana is my stomping grounds,.....congrats ....that's an awesome find!
Thank you so much for watching and weighing in. Certainly is the coolest example I've ever seen. Most holes I've seen on one is 6. This one had 9 at least.
Stellar. Sift that entire area, and then search upstream for the source, there's a bank somewhere letting that out. Could be way more. Absolutely stunning.
I put a link in the pinned comment and description. It's a native American slate gorget. You can find more info by following the link. Thanks for watching!
As native American your gods have many different titles including one of ours because before he was referred to as the creator my people knew him as the mysterious power not by any name referenced in today's world not until the explorer's came and brought the new religion to our lands, I know there'll be feed back but that's expected in today's time, honor and respect one another in your belief system as I respect yours, creator our god in heaven sees into your heart and by finding something of an older time in America's history is good bring out your discoveries it only confirms who lived on this continent before Christopher was discovered to be lost, thank you for sharing your treasure
You think it's a fork? Due to the material it is made from, in my opinion, there would be no practical use other than an ornamental of sorts. In this case, a gorget.
Tired of reading the comments, so what's a gorget? Watched the video because I hunt 4 shark's teeth near a large river that had a large number of Indian tribes so I'm always hoping 2 find an arrow head. I'm guessing this is a knife or saw.
After studying it a bit further the last couple days, I believe this to be correct. In one corner is multiple teepee symbols, the other top corner is a sun with ribbons and arrows bursting from it(multiple holes have this pattern around it) halfway through is the symbol for spring, which makes sense because there is a freshwater spring nearby.
Not jealousy! Just plain ole, INFORMATION & KNOWLEDGE, which you seem not to have, even the smallest amount of. That thing is NOT real! Not even an informed, ATTEMPT, at a gorget! It is a LOSER!
@@morgan-5171 why dont you just pay some "professional" to authenticate it? Like all true collectors do? Cant get anyone, in their right mind, to touch it? And you wont! It is not real! IF, you did find it, it was put there by a hoaxer "friend" of yours. Its not REAL!
I agree with your assessment of a second half to that piece remaining in the earth somewhere. For sure looks like a type of slate which forms in layers naturally.Nevertheless, its fabulous and as fancy a one as has ever been found no doubt.I have a sandstone gorget half with all the drawing of which some I could perceive while some is just a guess.Very personal finds tho.
Hey Dad!!!! It's a gorget. A chestpiece worn by someone of significance in the tribe. Perhaps a warrior, hunter, or the chief himself? It's covered in symbols which likely tell the story of the man who wore it.
Ok, you and the comments all agree that this is an incredible find. Goodonya. But I'm from Australia and have no idea what it is. What the hell is it?.
Congratulations man monumental find just imagine if that could tell a story enjoyed watching thanks for sharing and good luck on your next outdoor adventure
Salutations'n Cheers Creek Huntsman! What a singular artifact, one I find almost difficult to fathom it's value, due to it's rarity alone, for a stunning gorget such as this weird beauty will prove to be worth a tidy sum!! So far, all that I am qualified to do is simply attest to what I have witnessed during the viewing of your documemtation, maybe add my own spin upon the tale of how you acquired this excellent if mysterious artifact, and it seems a story of "Love Found At First Sight", would only be fitting. One must consider these truths; when you first set out to scan that bank and gazed upon Her, a picture of the future commenced to shapen, and You noticed even from afar, Her eyes were raised searching to meet yours! And then, when You walked in and looked closer, that feeling of love ovetook and put a change in You, evoked emotion so joyous, You were near completely reduced to tears? As You held Her to better learn Her shape, I heard You marvel and awe....She had been waiting for You to invite Her home! CHEERS and BLESSINGS to YOU and All Them that You Call Yours! CIAO!
Beautifully written. That's pretty much exactly how it felt. Thank you for taking the time to go on an adventure with me. Glad you are here. Have a great weekend!
@@paulblomgren1877 I encourage you to read this website that explains everything you need to know. arrowheads.com/gorgets-and-pendants-stone-ornaments/
I do appreciate your input, however I cannot allow the spread of misinformation. It is a gorget. A chestpiece worn by people of significance within the tribe. Not a tool, but merely an adornment, or what we call jewelry today.
I suppose that could have been one use. But I believe the would make an ornamental chestpiece with something like this. And wove threads through the holes to hold it on.
We call that a "Gorget" around here, not sure if that's even correct or not. We don't find many Slate pendants as they are very fragile, and I've never seen one so adorned........Very nice find, thanks for sharing your hunt.
In 61 years of hunting artifacts I have never seen anything like that!! Found 5 Banded Slate Butterfly bannerstones but ALL were broken cleanly down the center. But that Gorget is AMAZING!!
@@TheCreekHuntsman I have been drafted to go with a young " new" artifact hunter tomorrow, taking him to some of my favorite sites for him to get permission. Wish us luck!!
@@TheCreekHuntsman He didn't like walking rows, but understands now that what he wants doesn't equate to what is up in the field. But taking him to a Paleo site where I've found Clovis points.
OMG! That is amazing. Think that is a map scratched into it? Hold it up at night with certain stars shining through the holes, and the etched lines will show you the way.
