This is the best secretlab desk video review ive been waiting for.. love how you show the boxes and setting it up one by one with a little short clips every area or parts.
@@TechTesseractHow much does your PC weigh. The one issue we have is they only offer a PC holder that holds maybe 50-55lbs. Your PC on that holder is a pretty large case. I am really interested in knowing how much the PC actually weighs and if your over their weight limit how well is it doing still. I have this desk. It’s pretty good. Just want to hang my PC and it’s over 60lbs. The only other issue I have is the back tray is only accessible from the front which means when the desk is against a wall and you have no room to go along the sides because the desk is between cabinets on both sides. You’re not able to get under the desk and do cable management since they do not offer an access door underneath. This would be a really big deal if they made this easy modification to this desk.
I had been waiting to see a fantastic bills with this desk. I had been eyeballing one on Secret Labs website since it was announced. The wire management capabilities and leg integrations are something that truly defines this desk to be in a class of It’s own. I love the build and your workspace. It’s very warm and relaxing along with being very professional. Cheers! 🤙🏻
So I have one of these, and while it's a great desk, "fully metal" is a bit misleading. The frame is metal, but the tabletop is only partially (which isn't a bad thing, since if it was truly fully metal it would be ridiculously heavy). It's essentially a metal sheet wrapped around MDF board. The MDF is somewhat exposed on the bottom, but that's generally fine since the top is covered with metal and you don't have to worry about spilling stuff. It can cause some issues with mounting some things around the desk though, since that adds about an inch of a lip under the desk that can affect some of those metal disks for mounting.
Hands down. I think this is the best setup I have ever seen. Obviously there are some people that go absolutely crazy, but this is exactly the thing I like. Also after watching this video, it makes me want to get this desk as well. And one last thing, I also like that wood wall kinda thing, it looks pretty nice.
Usually companies doing “all in ones” for a desk solution is either minimal accessories or just doesn’t looks good -but holy snap this is awesome. The Ethernet extender, all the magnetic attachments, and can’t believe that PC tray holds as much as it does 😂 Awesome video and setup revamp, man.
While I probably wouldn't purchase it, I can see the value in the desk's convenience. They really have thought of every issue you might run into while putting together a desk setup. Having the power plug and ethernet cable built into the desk a really nice feature.
I’ve had this desk for a few months now. It’s great I love it. The PC mount allows so much extra space on the desk. I’ve been considering the heavy duty arm. How’s it holding up for you so far please?
I have the normal size version of this desk. It's great, I'd love if I had the XL version. It's great not having a nest of cables. You can actually replace the screw in feet with wheels so you can wheel the whole desk around and pull the desk out the get better access to to cable tray at the back, or move the desk entirely. I had to find a compatible c clamp heavy monitor arm because that new heavy duty arm didn't exist at the time. I'm going to get the shelf, I already have 2 headphone hangers. Pro Tip: The xbox controller actually fits perfectly onto the headphone hanger attachment and surprisingly won't fall off easily, it's the perfect spot for the xbox controller, it's even sturdier if you place it back to front. Also it's perfect for VR headsets, I plan to buy a third. Safety Tip: Oh yea, there's actually one massive problem with this desk, it's not drink compatible, it you spill your drink on this desk, the liquid will flow into the cable tray, you have to buy a cup holder clamp attachment, there is a great magnetic one made from a barbecue brand called Cuisinart, it works better for the original desk though. Secretlab need to make their own magnetic cup holder.
Appreciate the tips! Might have to get another headphone hanger for the controller! And will definitely look into the drinks holder, i'll let secretlab know that they should make one xD
How has been your experience with the terminator chair so far? I like that chair and there's one available in my country but I've watched so many bad reviews about it.
I ordered a Corsair Plattofrm 6 Creator Edition. The package with the multi frame, which costs over 300 euros, has been missing for 12 days. No one from Corsair can tell me when I will get my package, but they can charge almost 2k euros from my account in advance, that's what Corsair can do. I think the table and the bad delivery service from Corsair via UPS is worth a maximum of 1,000 euros and not 2,000 euros.
A little late to the party, but this is by far the best video I have seen on this desk. I have my eyes on it when I can bring myself to spend that much on a desk
This is my dream desk, but damn that price. Mind you I am no stranger paying a premium price for a nice premium product. Maybe next year if I can swallow the price tag, thats the down side imo as I'd want the XL Pro as well.
Not sure if you ended up replacing the wood panelling or not you mentioned you were going to think about putting a cyberpunk theme up there. Me personally I would’ve gone with the Witcher. I think that would’ve looked really cool there.
To those who feel broke. Hear 😂😂😂😂 The magnus desk is actually 350 The heavy duty monitor is 150 RTX 4090 is 375 The one monitor is 400 Alienware x16 870 All on bbcs. Much cheaper
Love the desk and the videos you both make uses both inspired me to build my own pc which i have done just recently, saving up now try make my pc water cooling, but i think i might need to to push that back now as i want this desk haha
I like the wood panels, it goes well with the desk and the rest of the layout. Who cares if every crypto bro bought the "Influencer Starter Kit" from IKEA which included those panels, two Alex filing cabinets and a countertop. If you like it, rock it. This comes from a man in his 40's who long stopped caring what other people think and just embraced what I like.
Thanks for the feedback! Haha 😂 I mean I'm in my late 20s and thought I ought to try the wood with no RGB, but I kinda missed the color tbh. It's looking better with the ambient lighting now though
Love the new and improved version of your setup Josh nicely done maybe you and Nay should send your setups in again for setup wars by Ed from Tech Source.
Hey thats a great set-up - but I have been told from secretlab that the Heavy Duty Monitor arm cannot be attached to the desk riser and must be on the desk? I was hoping to see the stacked monitor set-up you original had. but this still gives me a little idea of what I want. Thank you
I am thinking of making the switch too. I see you went from a full tower rog to a midcase, can i ask what pc case you switched to? I assume you had an EATX mobo….?
Hello, wanted to ask is it easy to connect the pc cables with the pc mount? And if it is do you have any behind the desktop video how you manage to connect it?
They don't ship to Hawai'i unfortunately. I've been trying to secure a sponsorship with them since this desk came out SPECIFICALLY to try and get one shipped here. Love the setup tho!
This was a nice showcase of what Secretlab offers. it's clear why they are some of the most sought after setups around. At that price it's a massive investment. Not one I am ready for yet BUT hopefully can in the future.
thanks for the inspo, i have the desk. think i might get that monitor riser. you reckon that monitor arm would hold a 42 inch lg oled? also just a bout to buy those Adam audio monitors, what audio interface are you using?
did you know that one of your ultra wides can do pip and pib witch mean you can use two devices instead having wierd ultra wide stack on a wltra wide ?
It's the desk that we all have been waiting for. I'd much prefer wood for the look and feel as my hands are on it the whole day, but all metal with the magnets really tickles that dude in me.
Would you have any idea if the under DESK PC mount will fit a HYTE Y70 TOUCH case? as I cannot find any measurements online for the mounting bracket or for the case and I really want to get this DESK for that reason alone I don’t want to spend that much money to find out it doesn’t fit please Help
