IF you "fliy" just to enjoy looking at realistic graphic scenery - well that is passengers (not pilots) do. The very realistic flight characteristics of many of the YS aircraft are exceptionally good, and that is what I really enjoy about YS Flight. Just practicing takeoffs and landings in YS could make you a better pilot! Besides, what what other flight sims have the absurd features to be found and mastered at the Slapstick airport? I love exploring the mysteries of Slapstick with my MU2 (mostly), but 747s not so much)..

This is unfair. YSFlight is old and was ahead of its time back in the day. Modders keep it going and it'll run on literally any hardware. My old Asus netbook thingy would run it and when you're away from home, its a blast.

fr bro. i found YSflight when I was like 12 on my extremely low-end pc and it kickstarted my love for flight sims. fast forward to today and I'm on the verge of getting my commercial & CFI-I in the real world. like jesus fucking christ this guy is actually insufferable and genuinely the worst person i can imagine to represent aviation on youtube (although let's be real, he does more representing on video games than he does actual aviation)

I'm one of the few people still making YT videos with YSFlight nowadays. A bit disappointed that you downloaded some mods and then barely used them, because they actually make a *big* difference in quality (and as far as airliners go in that department, Decaff_42's Boeings in particular are pretty amazing). ~~HawkbitAlpha, aka Wedge of 2UCW

I'm glad you've finally done YSFlight! What keeps the game running is our modding community, our squadrons, and our aerobatic groups. It may not seem like there's much there to look at starting it up for the first time, but there's such a great game hiding underneath. Coming from a combat squadron in-game, YSFlight definitely offers a more arcade-y approach to simulation, and when you combine that with multiplayer competition, there's lots of memorable moments of game play to be made. Also, you could do with a few good mods and new sound effects ; ) - [2UCW] CO Vertex

There's a heck ton of (all free) addons on YSFHQ. Also there's a sound improvement which in my opinion is absolutely essential since the default YS sounds are trash.

On the other hand we would like to deliver a constructive comment of which you should've tried several addons for the sim itself, since the sim really is much better when coupled with addons. We recommend you to try addons such as those from Decaff42, me774, TaskForce58, Utachy, and also our fleet pack. 10 years ago, the many servers were still working and you could do great dogfights there. Today I still play it a lot and I installed it on 10 not very fast laptops that were given to me here and there, and when I have guests (Christmas, birthday...), have made dogfight in local network. That's really nice. there are fairly detailed plane packs, and in particular Macross planes, which transform into a robot!

Nice video! This was the first ever flight simulator I touched in my life and I immediately fell in love with it. Of course, it's very basic, so I now use FlightGear (must check out the A320 and B777), which is way more advanced and definitely more realistic. (You might want to change Graphics settings to get better looking clouds. Also you can change rain, wind, and clouds in Environment settings). For a free flight simulator, this game is just amazing. Kudos to the YSFlight team who put in so much effort into making avsims accessible to all. *;D*

Did u know? 1: u r not flying alone in ys flight especially in hawaii..there were planes flying around there like cessna and b737 around honolulu airport..if im not mistaken..all airport has A.I planes flying 2 : ys flight has atc but no voice 3 : if u in hangar,u can use any vehicle around u such as car and plane that parked near u ..well i played this game when i was 11 years old lol ...i really love this game that time 😂

I like it, it works even on my old computer. Very useful for those of us who don't have dedicated GPUs or are stuck with older CPUs. I have an i5 and no dedicated graphics card, so for me this game is perfectly acceptable. Also, I don't see why you have clouds that look like that, the clouds in my version actually look decent and are not giant white/grey blobs in the sky.

I loved this game back in the day. This was my foyer into flight sims. There is the "Realism" mod which has slightly better sounds and higher quality models. But what I really liked about this game - and it's probably why I would still play it today - is the combat. Not even joking. Control it with the mouse and keys like a shooter and it's honestly fab. You can give the aircraft all manner of loadouts: bombs, A2A/A2G missiles etc. There is also a text file which, when edited, unlocks like 100 or so more aircraft. It has kinda crap graphics, but it runs great and can be really fun for dogfighting.

It was a great game with lots of aircraft and campaigns. It also had a multiplayer mode. Everything was developed by a single person. Someone who played it enough in the late 90s can tell what a gem it was.
