Sabo I’ve messaged u on Facebook several times. Your also in my group called atv builders. I sell parts and rebuild shocks for a living my partner went to race tech school. Anything u need we will do at cost!!
Well said man, great videos and just keep following and watching because Michael is a honest and all around good mechanic! Seems like a great pal too 👍 thank you for the videos ol boy
You do a really nice job filming and showing and explaining what you are doing. I like how u show what you show what u are doing and not just talk about it. Great video.
Just coming back to youtube after awhile and catching up on all of your videos. Still one of my favorite youtubers. You're doing great Mike! Every time they end I wish they were just a bit longer =D
Another great video!! For those of us that not only turn wrenches, but value the different designs out there, and the pros/cons of each. Seeing a predator come apart was new to me, and I totally agree with the "head scratching wtf" kind of strange...from really trick premo mixed with sketchy, weak, and weird? Good Stuff!!✌
In the early atv days polaris (a Minnesota based company) used Subaru 2 stroke engines in their quads. Like the 90's scrambler and trail boss. That's why the engines are metric and frame is english
I always get the biggest kick when you throw your parts in the oven in the house, my mom would have killed me, my wife would too. I love it, funny as hell, keep up the great content, love it
Im glade you put the time you do into your videos it my take me a while to watch them all the way through but I always do so much info and you always make things look like it’s so easy to do
I raced pro with two of these. Was sponsored by Polaris in my country, along with Rath on some components. Great machines, weakness is the frame. Let me know if you'd like some input/tips & tricks on it (if I can remember any of it, this was 15/16 years ago). Ps, I would pop that chain slider in the freezer over night and then install it, works a charm for lasting longer if it is the same material as it was back then.
Buddy the build is coming along very smoothly and the attention to detail .thx for saving a predator .i had the 06 pro steering was a hell of good system .but the 07 is just as good .keep up the good work kan can't wait for next one .#south African fan
Hey man for the electric plug that went into the throttle you can just leave it unplugged. Polaris did that as a safety for the throttle spring on the inside of the the throttle box. If it would stretch to much it would act as a kill switch and cause the bike not to start. Figured that out while tracking some electrical issues on my old one.
Should’ve thrown some chickie nuggies or mozzarella sticks in the oven while baking the carrier, gotta keep those biceps well fed brother 👍🏻 great series btw!!!
I hope you don't regret not reinforcing the inside of the steering stem. The shear stress on that weld may be very high during riding and may cause the weld to fail. Good luck.
@@MichaelSabo what's up Mike? I was really impressed with the steering stem fix, you have skills that I wasn't aware of!! Looking forward to the next video.
Hey those old Carrier bearings had that much grease for a reason!!! Make sure you really pack those new ones, they won’t last long with that much grease! Love the vids and this quad 👍
From one 500 owner to another, neutral is a bitch to find at a stop. And on the 1-2 shift you’ll randomly find neutral. The 525s had the same issue I believe
I miss the funny intros! Still a great video as always mike! Just what I needed after a long ass day at work, quads and a beer with mike. Also if you want to use any aftermarket light with those stock plugs, they are weatherpak connectors they sell all the stuff to make them on Amazon really cheap
I appreciate that man and I miss the intros too; I will still do them here and there but they are hard to keep up with and if I don't have a good idea I don't want to be putting up trash lol
@@MichaelSabo totally understand! Videos are great, always love the attention to detail and how much you clean things up during a build! Can’t wait to see all of this series
@@MichaelSabo not really, i think ur more right. i have a bad problem lol. i need shit to be perfect and i spend hrs nitpicking on shit that shoukd take minutes lol. love ur channel man, uve been really innovative lately. keep up the good work man!
Never knew u had the metal fab skills like that! Nice work, if I could subscribe again I would lmao 🤣 I feel like I always learn some new little trick or idea watching you work. And I've done this since I was a kid so thats saying alot. Keep it up bro!!!!
The piggyback Podiums only came on the Troy Lee edition of the Predator. It seems like Polaris built and sold more TLD editions than standard models, but they do exist which is what you have/had.
Lee, thank you bro! Yes, that's the part number and those specs are pretty close; I was able to find a bearing that should work; currently waiting for it!
@@MichaelSabo I done alot of searching when you said you couldn't find them! I now feel your pain! You may need to machine the cases and install bronze sleeve interference fit and match the crank journal size and order timken or koyo bearing to size! I'm excited to see what you come up with either way!
The same thing happened with the Z400 steering stems in case you ever run into having to replace the stem on one of those. I think 03 used a unique style and then Suzuki swapped it in 04-08, but don't quote me on the years.
A very reputable shop has had my 400ex for a top end job for 3 months and haven't even touched it. Thinking about picking it up and order 1k worth of parts and get at her myself
The reason for the vacuum fuel pump was because the outlet on the tank and the inlet on the carb are about the same height. Without it the engine will start to fuel starve at about the last 1/4 tank. Also off camber riding can cause the the engine the starve.
I appreciate the info man! I did some research on this and the carb I am switching to has a lower fuel intake tube; I believe it will be okay, but if not, I will put the pump back.
Thank you! 99% of my knowledge was gained through teaching myself and experience/trial and error. I was a fabricator for emergency serviced vehicles in my last full time job and I gained a good bit of experience/knowledge there with welding etc.
Mike!! All the parts you took off and cleaned and fixed the bent frame. You left that ugly spoiler on there. Looking good though. Side note. Do you like the lock and load grease fitting? 👍🏻
