Just when I thought I couldn't fanboy any harder for Mythos, he drops paranormal investigation videos with historical context. You are murdering this scene with incredible videos, and I can't wait to see you grow bigger!
My first thoughts about the Drummer Boy (before you even went into the woods) was that it could be a folk tale created to explain a natural phenomenon. These are quite common and the most well known are those around standing stones, earthworks and unusual rock foundations. You were near water and I wonder whether the drumming is the sound of water slapping up into crevices in the rocks or riverbank?

When it is presented in the form I use it contains the a 5 petalled flower at the centre, this represents a pentagram. So we have a 6 pointed star drawn with 1 single line and a pentagram at the centre. For those who follow and believe in the Thelemic and other alternate belief systems this concentrates a lot of power. I really enjoyed this Mythos, thank you. One thing that's worth bearing in mind, whenever you're around moving water, is that it's very easy to 'hear' things like voices in the sound. There are loads of good places, like this, here in the North-East. I look forward to more genuine, honest videos like this.

Excellent videos. More castle please! I can’t imagine living close to so many haunting stories. Tearing apart what was real vs what is myth is as exciting as ghost hunting to me. All of the King Arthur stories have to based on something. I want to believe that Monty Python was right and knights broke into song and danced on tables. So much more to capture the imagination in these old places.
That was a great investigation, Mythos! I love how you are doing your homework in historical context and background, and your video editing and B-rolls are top-notch. Always refreshing to see how you question everything you see and hear, never jump to easily conclusions and debunk yourself. And one has to point out how respectful you are to the location and its former inhabitants. While I also believe you caught nothing paranormal, at least the banging would have scared me. Most likely it's just noise washing over from the settlement, but is was fitting enough to be scary. I also think that the voice was an animal sound, maybe even the cat you saw close by; you would not believe which sounds these can make; there is a music channel here who mixes cat noises into songs, it's hilarious; just search for "Big Billy", you will find it. Excellent video, Mythos, and it was not loo long at all. Looking forward to more of these videos!
I have to say that every time I watch your videos I get blown away each time at how quickly your video quality has improved (The clips from BBC Merlin also do you some favours!). Your story-telling skills are amazing and I have never seen the story of the drummer boy told from this perspective. You're rocking it!

I could happily watch five dozen ghost hunt videos of yours where absolutely nothing happens because I value your skepticism, your thoroughness, your attitude and your superb insight. Your entire channel does you proud and gives people like me - science nerds who want to understand the 'paranormal' for whatever it is - real hope that we can crack these mysteries with good rational knowhow and honesty. Absolutely beautiful. How fabulous to see these gorgeous places that I can’t get to, & the history info is fascinating. The solo investigations are more suspenseful, & possibly stand a better chance of experiencing something. Those woods did look huge & remote. In that country, I think “the woods are more than they might seem.”

I've watched it back from the start. Great video Mythos. I strongly believe that the bangs and even the knock were just fireworks. But it shows you that in the dark how sound is amplified.
it's so refreshing to see an investigation like this. Much better than the videos with people screaming al the time and the rly loud sound effects. (i have headphones on.. so maybe just don't haha.) I love ur video because i could just listen without sliding the volume up and down! Just be you ^.^

Awesome video Mythos, thank you. I've always had a fascination with old buildings/structures. I recently went to Tasmania (Van Diemen's Land). We visited Port Arthur, learning more about it's history and and seeing it's remaining structures was an experience of a lifetime. The story you told of the drummer boy will stay with me for ever, such a brave boy but he must have been so frightened 😢. It's so sad and infuriating that the cowardly men didn't look for him.
I really like how you explain the technology. A lot of "investigators" (enterntainer wannabees) just say "make these devices go off"....which is not a good way of talking to folks from the past. First of all, what's a device? Second of all, make it go off? It's already off. People from the past could easily get confused. I can tell you're legit and not just looking to get likes. Hi, I live in Richmond. The replica cross is inside St Agatha's Church, I'm not sure if you looked in there- the church is amazing and has medieval paintings on the walls. The banging noises you heard are probably the sound of gunshot, the MOD owns a lot of land above Richmond and the sounds of the soldiers training exercises can be heard in Richmond all the time- the sound you picked up sounded exactly like that to me- I hear it all the time living here. I thought when you showed the map of Richmond you were going to zoom out and see the MOD land! Anyway, I really enjoyed that and I'm a new sub 😀

Yeah listening back actually it does sound like fireworks rather than the cinema but I didn't see anything. Maybe it was miles away and I still heard them?

Hey Mythos! Love your channel! Started watching with the whole Cody and Satori situation, and genuinely love your content and have been a supporter ever since! I just have 2 things to say: 1) Cootoes (however that’s spelled) on you for doing this all alone. You one brave man, seriously! Even if not haunted, (which one never knows for sure if somewhere is haunted or not) going there by yourself in the pitch dark, that takes loads of courage! Well done! 2) This part has nothing to do with your investigation, which, by the way I thought was amazing, and so extremely legit! But, I’ve always just wondered. REM Pods are said to give off a “field” of energy, and only “go off” or make that sound when that field is broken. I’ve heard this, I don’t know if that’s even true. But, if one is investigating outside in the woods, for example, or forests, or even anywhere that’s open and not closed off like a building or a house, and knowing that REM Pods has a red light that’s on constantly with the other lights only coming on when the field is broken. Ok, so with all that being said, here is my question. With being out in the open, there is ALWAYS the possibility of bugs, right, and bugs, or most of them, are drawn to light. And what’s on a REM Pod? A constant red light. So, I just wonder if it’s possible, and I’m not saying this method is the case at all times, but isn’t it a very real possibility, that if a bug were to break that field of energy given off by a REM Pod, that would make it go off? And then with the other lights going off, the bug/s would be drawn even more to it? They’d eventually leave, but does that even make sense? Could something as small and not easily noticeable by the eye, like a bug, be able to break the field of a rem pod and set it off? Overall, brilliant, legitimate video.

I like places like that and i like seeingall the history and learning about all of the history and it just amazes me how they built them buildings back a long time ago and the plus side too places like that is the beauty of the whole area

@mythosparanormal I'm pretty confident that the "Knock" that you heard was the click of your camera zooming out. The "knock" and camera zoom out happens at the same time. I have a reaction going up soon where I explain it but I'll try my best to do it here too. I've seen other camera's do this exact thing (can even happen when you zoom in) The mic likes to pick up the clicking. It happens a ton on Sam and Colby's channel whenever they zoom in. Great video though! Excited for wherever you decide to go next

Not sure what the knocking was, but it sounded like someone hitting sticks together. The single knock was definitely intriguing! Love looking around and exploring these old ruins. Good on you for doing it in the dark. Like you pointed out,many trip hazards. There's a road running right pass,but if you haven't,visited Byland Abbey, a 14th-century monk from there, wrote ghost stories. I wonder where he got the idea from???
