Be careful with that "f2p friendly" mindset when a game is brand new and you're an early player. People forget how much gacha games frontload rewards. Give it a couple months before calling it f2p friendly, cause that's when it's actually clear.
@Naokarma I would say it's ftp in the sense that the game is super, super casual- no pvp, and since most of the content is pve you could easily pull for who you want and clear most if not all content easily. All of the standard 6* and most 5* units are fantastic, and scale well into the late game, and units on rate-up banners (like Pickles and Melania in 1.1) will be added to the standard pool later, so even if you missed a 'meta' unit, you have a chance of getting them on a lost 50/50. Getting multiples of the same unit while, obviously increasing their strength in the long run, isn't as impact unless as say something like Constellations or Eidolans, in that further copy just gives some qol upgrades, or smaller damage or bonuses. All the starting units they give you are competent and useful, and you can grab 1 of three fantastic 6* star units for most if not all content. Because there's no relic farming either, the grinding is far more forgiving, and feels more rewarding because you'll eventually be able to always make a "perfect" character if you invest the time in them.
Lv 33 now almost a week into the game, currently working on Limbo VI. It's a great side game, intriguing combat mechanics that urges you to think a few turns ahead. Story is dark if you're into that. The music is nice and chill. Downside? The levelling system. It's way too expensive to max out 1 character so you have to really plan wisely which are your 2 main teams to build. Protip: Build Sonetto. She's great with her buffs and especially her Disarm!
My feeling is because there is no weapon banner and no kit locked behind dupes.. that they had to gate somewhere else.. and my thought is it’s advancement.. yeah to get a whole team to i3 and get your wilderness to max crafting will take well over a month f2p. Still not terrible and still on the more generous side for gacha.
@@borghegetting your wilderness to max level actually doesn't take you that much time. I max leveled up one of the resources in just less than a week, it is the most important after all, so it's worth the early investment.
Do not skimp on the tutorials! You will learn that when you move cards or incantations around, it increases moxie points (those diamond things) which gets your ult faster.
best tip, focus on your Wilderness, it gives you a ton of free resources and the sooner you level it up the sooner you get more free resources forever, you wont be able to get the final level until you 330 stat the story, which requires doing most of the hard modes, but not all. Sotherby is very mid right now, new poison units will arrive in 1.2 which will make her shine.
Hardcore Arknights player here, been playing (almost) consistently on AK for years at this point and is usually my golden standard when it comes to a really good gacha game IMO. I absolutely love the art and the fact that I can unlock cooler art by upgrading characters. When it comes to the gacha I also really like the rates and the abundance of pull currency the game gives the player. Gameplay wise, I didn't like it at first but by farming and completing content for pull currency I got a lot more familiar with the obvious synergies that I had in my team. And finally, the farming. It is everything that I thought I never needed as an AK player, but after getting a taste of auto farm it's a good feeling that I can just auto farm upgrades instead of spending 80% of the game afk on a stage for a couple hours. This is a recipe for the perfect side game, easy to learn hard to master, fast farm, great characters, great rates and the devs also seem to give quite the amount of stuff in the mail, I would recommend just giving it a try albeit the gameplay is not for everybody as it is turn-based, but I heavily recommend it nonetheless.
I love how it is very great in its optimization. The way it's the same quality it is for the mobile and it's not awkward on PC too is so great. This is one of the few examples of you don't need insane graphics but just a captivating story, good UI/UX and smooth combat. It's also F2P friendly so far (since most single player gacha is anyway) since we are at early game. Time is the only thing that can build your characters further unless you spend on Stamina. Just finished Chapter 4 the other day and it's pretty great! I got lucky with getting 3 6 stars from the free pulls. I wouldn't say it's the best roster of characters sotrywise (vertin and sonetto are top tier tho) but the concept is unique enough for me to stick around... most gacha games revolve around Space or Medieval Fantasy which are genres I get super bored in. The leveling can get expensive but it's just right considering the massive increase in competency by just 5 levels. The voice acting is also pretty good, the accents kinda throw me off but that is not an offense that is a me problem lol But I still prefer the english version over the japanese because it feels better. Reverse 1999 and Path to Nowhere are two gacha games who has great story and lowkey graphics but beautiful artwork and insane stories. I recommend both!
i appreciate the replay mechanics of the game, you can run a battle worth of x4 drops in just 1 run. grinding for materials is not that tedious in comparison to Genshin Impact. and another one, you can assign psycubes (which i believe are the weapon) for different characters, so grinding for them wouldn't be too repetitive on early game.
Loving this game. I actually think the gameplay is better than Honkai Star Rail and makes me want to manually play the game to beat challenges (at least for the first time - you can auto battle any time you farm content you've beaten). The art is amazing, the voice acting is top notch, and the story is intriguing. Navigating the game is complicated, but once you get the hang of it, doing dailies and weeklies is a breeze due to the auto play. I'm playing completely F2P with Eternity, Sotheby, Bkornblume, Charlie, Balloon Party, and Sonetto and having a great time. Looking forward to getting Changeling to complete my poison team and building Eternity to the point where she can solo content. And, I want to enjoy the story, art, and off-beat vibe of the game.
The gameplay isn’t too flashy like HSR and imo it’s for the better. It’s pretty smooth and super satisfying to just spam ults with certain characters. Might be my fav jrpg type game in a long time
It knows what it is and it does it phenomenally. It just oozes style and the character designs are insane lol. I laughed when I saw pickles the dog as a playable character 😂
@@tombrennan3458 I may be the only one but I’m not the biggest hoyoverse type and clone games and this one just has its own style and feel without it’s being super p2w either. Like who comes up with a piece of glass or a damn apple being playable characters. You can tell they had fun making this game and the dev community actually interacts. Here’s to a long life for R1999 🍻
Ive been playing this since release for 1 hour, on two accounts. The first account, i use to progress on the story and wilderness, using clear drops to buy islands and summon characters, basically spending everything on random stuff. But the second one is purely for farming, dust, sharpodonty, and unilogs. I have both on the third chapter and the second, i have pulled on the beginner banner (30x) and finished it. If i bouvht more using my cleardrops, i currently have 40(gibe or take) so the ads where they say 70 pulls for free werent really lying. Also, as an avid lore player in any game, the storyline is very interesting and complex, cant wait for the new updates.
The game is a lot of fun, very addicting, I love the art style.. BUT... it turns into a very tedious grind very fast. You hit walls hard and then have to spend a good amount of time/resources to grinding up to speed. Not sure about the pull system either, I've either had the worst luck ever or the drop rates are abysmal outside of the guaranteed starter banner. I'll stick around for events for a bit and see how it holds up, but the grind brought my progress and, therefore enthusiasm, for it to a screeching halt. Edit: Based on this vid.. I just have the worst luck in the world.. he has 4-5 6 stars, I have 1, the guaranteed and 3 5 stars after about 60ish pulls.
People keep on bringing up the 'Wall' which is weird. Dude the game is new, they need to put something there to stop you from clearing the end game content within a week of F2P. If you can finish Limbo V as a F2P using your free drops to refresh then good for you. Personally I wouldn't, I prefer saving for new banner, but good for you.
Every single gacha game is like this in the beginning. Just level up 3 characters first. I mean we all went trough the same with honkai and Genshin and tower of fantasy there isn’t a gacha game that in the first week doesn’t get a bit hard. Do you want to beat everything with all the stars after one week? How boring would that be Also the gacha system like all of them is from your luck I e done about 100 pulls and have 2 6 stars and every single 5 star in the game currently
Absolutely love the game. I have an account on mobile where I play with my favourites, and a separate account on pc where I play with the given characters for story mode..just to see how different my luck is, and it's very different. The sonumbulism(not sure if I spelt that right) Corridor after "floor" 8, and especially Limbo, requires careful strategy. It's like spiral abyss in genshin, but actually makes you think about your next move and line up(since they deactivate several characters after each battle)..so you need to get at least 6 characters up for that. And getting a character up after Insight 2 takes a ton of resources/stamina. But if you don't wish to stress out on the harder content, the story mode itself is pretty chill...unless you decide do hard mode for chapter 4(good luck with that). Overall, amazing game. Love the gacha system. Pretty generous for a start. Amazing EN voice cast..most of it. Love the Wilderness part as well.
i've been playing r1999 since release (f2p so far, but might buy jukebox) and its been absolutely wonderful. i've been able to get the characters i want, Sotheby and Necrologist, and so far im not having trouble with difficulty! the designs are amazing and the voice acting is impeccable. the story is also 10/10! so excited for more
Tips if you main Regulus always use her ult last since it has a passive that will dodge non ultimate attack which applies to the whole team. and BTW this game killed genshin for me now I maintain 3 accounts on R1999 and so far loving it
to explain it more clearly: Regulus's Ultimate has a buff that make you dodge any non-ultimate attack, but her buff only last until the beginning of the character's turn. So if you use her ult at the last move, the buff preserves for the whole team.
For those worried if their phones won't be able to keep up with the game. I'm currently using a phone with Android 8 and a 4 GB ram and it runs smooth excluding very few animations.
If you love story rich games, I don't think Reverse1999 will disappoint. I've been waiting for Reverse1999 for over a year now. My most anticipated game of 2023, and it has met or exceeded all of my expectations. You're guaranteed a meta damage dealing 6* (top rarity) character in the newbie banner. And you also unlock a meta 6* psychube (weapon) for free by just playing the game as well. This sets up the most casual and tactical players for immediate and future success and enjoyment of the game.
I have to ask what happend to loading quest? The update tab on my app store said main story concluded but the server remain active? Did han game just do what i think they did?
I've been a follower of your informative videos from when you started out in Genshin. Happy to see you picking up this game even casually. It's hard to say if it'll have staying power (I hear there some lack of endgame content), but as far as f2p goes, the game is so far quite doable and even refunds you leveling materials for leveling 4* characters (which are good enough to do a lot of content with until you have time to farm up materials to level the higher rarity characters.
Honestly the fact that this game has no rng artifact/relic system as a turn-based game makes me like this game way more than HSR. I’m already used to that with genshin’s unit building amidst the frustrations it comes with, do you honestly think I need to subject myself to the very same thing twice only because HSR is the more “popular” route to go? Plus I got to admit that because of the card mechanic and the afflatus of elements between allies and enemies being an important factor, this game has been making me think more meticulously than HSR had done. The strategy in this game for some reason feels more engaging for my brain than HSR, and I respect that a lot. I still have a stronger liking for open-world rpgs and mmos at heart, but this one definitely got me 😊 Hoping all the best for this game
Don't get me wrong I like this video, but you can't call it a review when it's so sponsored by the game, it's an overview. It was a useful look at the game though so we'll done
I am also playing this game and it is so addicting. So addicting that I am losing interest in Honkai Star Rail. 😆 The game is so F2P friendly and have many generous rewards.
Played it but dropped it. The writing is really awkward, and while I adore the battle system, the lore and world building is what keeps me hooked on games like Genshin and StarRail. I just didn’t get hooked with this, as much as I wanted to be.
Am I the only one that finds the story boring and confusing? I don't really get what's going on in the beginning to a point where I don't feel like playing it anymore. I have been playing it with just skipping story and waiting to get to the grinding part of most gotchas. I don't know about this. It's very hyped as having a good story but I'm not following lol
Tbh yes to the point where i started questioning if it's worth it to play this game ngl in my conclusion no it ain't worth my time like old dislyte before it became sh1t
My gacha experience has been pretty terrible. The starter banner, had to do all 30 pulls to get the 6 star. Pulled on A Knight banner, lost the 50/50 and got a Voyager, which I don't mind, but it was at pity, 70 pulls. I also, stupidly I guess to some, did 70 pulls on the permanent banner because I had built up a little bit towards pity on that as I started and got my third 6 star, again at full pity. I can't say it feels inspiring to summon in this game. I also recognize that while it as you start out shower you with Clear Drops to summon with, once you have cleared all the content once, you will start to get maybe 3-4k a month, which is one or two 10x worth. That isn't even close to enough to reach a 70 pity on a new banner, let alone 140 if you are unlucky with the 50/50. It's F2P friendly to start, but I get a feeling that isn't the case after those initial Clear Drops are claimed from the first time clearing stages. That is if you want to collect units of course. You can probably beat most if not all the content in the game with whatever you get if you invest into them. PS: I also tried to reroll over 30 times at launch and got a single 6 star out of all those runs. Felt horribly demotivating. I ended up just going with an account that rolled multiple 5 stars instead, because I got so disappointed in how bad the rates for 6 stars were.
Yeah, ouch. I personally never reroll in any gacha I start as my luck is usually quite bad too so it doesn't seem worth the effort. So I just work with what I get. In the long run you're likely gonna get every standard character anyway. I also had to do all 30 pulls to get a single 6 star but it was exactly the one I'd wanted out of the three featured on the banner, so I considered myself pretty darn lucky. Also, you are saying 70 pulls is soft pity and 140 is hard piity? I was wondering about that. Good to know, and also I hope you'll get more lucky on your pulls.
It's just bad luck. Rates are not that bad, 1,5% is more than double the Genshin 5* rate. I did 37 rerolls without 6*, it can happen, but then I got four 6* in 30 pulls. Rates are not terrible but they are low enough so with bad luck you can get pretty shafted. About currency: for what I've seen you can get around 30 pulls for patch, so that should be around 60 a month I think.
@@shevek5185we get 50+ summons every month with daily, monthly, events etc. also yeah some people just get really unlucky but I think the normal standard is getting a 6 stars like every 4th multi
I wanted to like this game, especially because of the unique characters and voiceovers, but the gameplay is just lacking in today's gacha market. And I know a lot of people love the art style for the battle sprites, but I think it's such a downgrade over their concept art :(
You only play HSR and genshin so don't start talking about what's "lacking" when there's literally gacha games with outdated graphics and mechanics like DBZ dokan and Monster Strike still raking millions, the latter having almost 3 times the total revenue of genshin.
@@iturnedmypikachuintoararec4846 LMAO Yeah, DBZ gacha games look like crap, then again, I think DBZ as a whole looks like crap anyway. The art style is so hideous, I just can't ever take it seriously LOL. Anway, I feel that the only reason a gacha like that does well is cause it's from a very popular franchise. If you look at Ever Crisis, it came out recently and it's a trash gacha game too but somehow thriving because it's Final Fantasy 7 which is super popular. Fans will eat up anything even if it's dogshit.
do the starting tasks list. it gives you a ton of materials. i make the mistake of grinding a lot and then i realized i could have gotten most of them by just doing the tasks lol.
I hope I can get that 6* healer I got knight and the girl with the headphones on the knight banner and she has a debuff that lowers every enemies reality def and that healer and the knight hits reality type I wanna make mono reality team
Superb graphics, music and voicing. Story is on a complex side but feels good. Though it really became limbo very soon. Story is done for now. Limited resources for pulls after finishing initial burst - daily/weekly/pass/abyss routine. Harder content requires developed characters and proper roster. Which you won't get any soon cause development is extremely stamina consuming. And that would not be a problem by itself if they did not do huge mistake. And that is big power gap rarities have. You better to wait for 5 or 6 star character of role you miss rather then investing a lot into 4 star or lower. Cause all those resources would be wasted. And that would not be a problem if not the gameplay. You can not rely on hypercarry+supports strategy. You hypercarry might not get a single card for few turns in a row. And that might be last two turns out of 10 allowed. So you fail and start again. Or just start again. That means every character in a team must hold own weight somehow unless you want to re-do a lot. Tactical gameplay should not have that much RNG I think. E.g. chess is not build around randomizing board or figures each time but still have enough depth.
Don't agree that they are doing everything right. The story is so pretentious, at most a 3/5. The grind and lack of stamina is pretty bad. However, the character design, voices and combat is pretty good.
There's a donkey character (donkey head and a human body) who literally calls himself an ass in the English dub lmao I tried this game and I think it's pretty promising, just might be disappointing if you are looking for amazing English voicing and dialogue as the game clearly didn't invest that much money in localization
i think the voice acting is great. i think maybe the issue you have is with vertin and sonetto since they are more stoic characters so they dont have a ton of emotion in their voice. im personally fine with those kinds of characters but i notice a lot of people think they are boring. but you have characters like regulus who are more outgoing to balance that. i did notice sometimes it sounds like the VAs dont have the best mic quality. apparently the default voice language of this game when it first released in china is english and at the time they probably had less budget etc. i expect future content to be better hopefully with the translations and recording quality
This game is a mix of the famous UI and features from: -) Genshin / HSR -> Gacha and Pity System, Spiral Abyss/MoC, Weapon/LC (Psycube) and Store from pulling dupe Character (Stardust/Starglitter) -) Arknights -> Gameplay need to think, Bond System, Wilderness (Dorm) , Skin, Shop Replay and Insight System, and Store Selling System. 2-4 stars character unique feature and still usable. -) NieR Automata or other similar tetris matching -> Resonance, -) Other games involving randomness of card merging, Story Trail, Element System Love it!
Reverse:1999 is a captivating game with a unique and immersive experience. It features a captivating and mysterious plot that keeps players engaged, a fresh and interesting combat gameplay, and an impressive overall aesthetic with stunning visuals, stylish character designs, and a bold setting.
The only reason why I'm kinda interested is because i don't think i have ever played a turn based game (aside from trying out star rail for 2 minutes on my cousin's phone), and I haven't played these type of card style stuff, and also because of Captain regulus
Hello, I just jumped in to the game. Got 16 pulls in my pocket. I have 4 banners available : 1. First drop of Rain 2. One gram of Curiosity 3. Clang of sword & Armor 4. Amid the Water. Please advise on which I should reroll? Thanks in advance
first drop of rain til u get 5*, then if u want a healer go for sotheby, if u want damage then go for a knight. I recommend going for sotheby if u want to pull for changeling someday (a very strong poison dd, she and sotheby = super strong) or if u don't want them then save
Well, that's a stretch because she did crit on the worm (the cue is the little puff of smoke beside the number) and not on the wolf. And something that IWintoLose hasn't yet discovered is the 50% crit rate buff lasts _till you score a crit_, so the buff disappeared and was not in play for the other two attacks lol. Ideally, from my experience you want to take as few actions on Regulus as possible to maximize the crit rate buff.
