Based on what? Are you still living in the 20th century before alpha waves were discovered? This isn't promoted as some "brain control" helmet, its a wave monitor used to teach focus. Meditation is 100% focus and its very easy to allow your mind to sidetrack, as demonstrated this creates a focus point and generates supplementary data so you can hone in on what works for you.

This actually looks pretty cool. I can totally see this being an excellent way of calming yourself down or helping you get to sleep. Would be nice if it had a mode where you just continuously keep it on without it ending your meditation when the time's up. And also a sleep function that automatically turns itself off after you remain in a calm state for X amount of time.
I bought this thing a few years ago to help me relax. At the time the app was so uncustomizable that I had to return it. It took a while to get used to it and when I finally did, I kept getting distracted by those fkn birds. I would buy it again if the app changed. Anyway, as usual, great video Lou.
This is literally what they did when my ADHD was supposedly out of control. the hooked me up with these sort of brain wave sensors and would then play a movie in front of me. As my focus drifted the display would grow darker and fainter, likewise it would grow clearer and closer to normal viewing as I "focused and controlled my brainwaves." very similar concept.
