The most slept on and underrated racing game ever. Lost many day, nights and weekends with this gem. Also loved destroying the online community with my infamous pink dune buggy 😂
The entirety of the Motorstorm series is gold. I grew up mainly with Pacific rift and Apocalypse, later played Monument valley and Arctic Edge. They all are amazing and unique. I would explode into happiness if a remake or new game ever got announced. Like I'm not even joking, these games are literally my favorite of all time. Racing games just aren't the same anymore. And that is the reason I still to this day, boot up my copy of Motorstorm Pacific Rift on my PS3 and play for hours. Despite having played the game for 13 years, I never get tired of what the game offers. I recently actually bought a PS2 just so I could play the PS2 port of Arctic Edge, despite already owning it on the PSP. Motorstorm will be something I never walk away from and forget. It's tracks, music, vehicles, all are engraved in my memory forever. Lunatics Unite.
Well they made a game called onrush a couple years ago that is incredibly similar to motorstorm but will never me nearly as good as any motorstorm game for sure
The old age of 28? ROFL I passed that one 35 years ago! One thing I noticed early in the first race was how the rider's outfit quickly became brown from the dirt and mud being sprayed up their back. I remember getting the brown stripe up the back when riding in the rain on my ten speed bike.
Man, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is STILL one of my all-time favorite racing games. If it ever got the HD treatment or just popped up as a port on the store, it'd be a day one purchase for me.
This game was the reason I got a PS3, too. I was so addicted to it. And Pacific Rift. And the amazing thing about the music was that it sounded like it’s actually played through speakers in the canyons. They added some reverberating effect to it. Just sounded awesome. And it’s actually from 2006 so it turns 18 this year. It wasn’t even supposed to be a real game start. Just a graphics and physics demo of what the PS3 was capable of but people loved it so much that they turned it into an actual game.
They actually removed the reverb sound in a patch back in 2007-2008 I believe, after the Devil’s Weekend DLC. There is a glitch where you can get it back though, you simply have to mute Curve - Hell Above Water in the track list, then the reverb comes back. I only discovered it recently, and I thought my TV speakers had broken. I never knew the reverb used to be there for real until someone online told me about the patch.
It was the atmosphere of the festival that got me. It seemed like a place I’d like to be at. The way the made the soundtrack sound live was incredible for the time.
Lmao, yeah I was in high school when I started my " gaming career " with NES Rad Racer and Gouls and Ghost. 28 was a while back for me but I'm still gaming and young at heart. 4? years old physically but 28 mentally. 😁🤘
I remember when this game came out. If you love Motorstorm and crazy crashes and crazy racing then give Motorstorm Apocalypse a go. I honestly miss Motorstorm games and wish they never stopped.
@@siltstridersftw the story wasnt too bad but the free play and pvp was floorless and so much fun. Not only that but the car customisation options and car selection was pretty dam good for a game of its time. I wish they made a remastered Motorstorm Apocalypse.
For a game that's over 15 years old, the gameplay looks like a ton of fun! The vehicle damage and destruction looked impressive and fact you can punch riders off of bikes and ATVs is crazy ha ha! I love it! 👍
I'm old, I was 33 in 2007! lol I grew up with Spectrum's and then Amiga's, had Playstation's from the first one, I still have a PS3, but mostly play PC games like Beam and Forza 😊
This was the first ever racing game I played on PS3. And I had an absolute blast. Unfortunately, my old PS3 gave out so I couldnt use it, so I didn't see a need to keep any of my games. But omg, this game was awesome. I remember unlocking the big rig. I would literally go the wrong way and destroy everyone. I had so much fun. But I do remember some of the races being a little difficult. I loved the crash physics, the explosions. This game was and still the goat of PS3 games
The ATV OffRoad Fury series was the entirety of my elementary and middle school years! It’s underrated af, and I’ve not seen that many videos of it on RU-vid over the years. Physics in it were daaaamn good too
The second game I definitely played the earliest, then the first, never the third, but have the most time in 4. I love that game, and the build your way to the top aspect is awesome and sorely missed from current racing games.
2 and 3 are definitely the pinnacle imo. 1 was a classic with some bangers on the soundtrack, 2 narrowed it down but still kept it new and exciting. ATV 3, which I’d say I spent the most time with, was a mainstay in my life😂😂 I’d highly recommend it. The courses are more advanced, freestyle is more expansive, the AI is actually pretty Fukin good for what was 2006-2008 I believe, and they provide a decent challenge in the “story” mode. ATV 4, I played a little, but just freestyle and I just jammed to the soundtrack, which introduced me to Lamb of God and Audioslave🤘🤘🤘🤘 the story never really appealed to my preteen mind, but I’ll defo have to revisit it sometime😂 I always noticed to “championship; conquer to ATV Off-Road world!” Story aspect of 4 tho, and I felt like it was gonna click with some people🫵🏼😂😂 the PS2 really does have some unseen gems🥲 and another thing. Cheat codes. Genuine. Cheat. Codes.🥲🥲
Bro I was JUST telling my wife that absolutely nobody talks about this game. This was the first game I got when I got my ps3 for xmas that year. So good
@@tylerstrange9413is it like driven to destruction that had chain races and trailer races red rover and another of Derby events like survive 5 laps in a herse with other cars taking u out without having to race u
@@tylerstrange9413 well if u own a ps2 gen console it's still a good game to check out driven to destruction u had to buy cars from a scrap yard and they slowly got more permanently damaged if u go heavly wounded in a event I remember my demo derby estate ended up with only 50% repairable after 5 seasons of abuse
Tip 1: if you find a screen in game and pause your game, when you move your camera around, it moves in the screen as well. Tip 2: if I remember correctly, you can repeatedly press boost instead of holding it to use it more efficiently. And you kinda mentioned how different vehicles work better on different paths, you should do a video where you take the worst path the whole race and see if you can win
How have i never seen this game before? Lol, I've never had a PlayStation before though so maybe thats it? I've always had Xbox's. It looks incredible 😂
Motorstorm was a great series. I never owned a Playstation console when I was younger but i did buy a PSP and bought Motorstorm Arctic Edge. Was a lot of fun.
How about a PS2 launch game that seems to be all but forgotten: Smuggler's Run. At the time, it had some of the largest maps ever seen in a game, about 5 square miles. Bonkers.
I have been searching for this game since I played it at my moms boyfriends house at 8 years old 17 now and I saw the logo and recognized it immediately now I’m buying a ps3 lmao Neil you are the greatest you solved my childhood dreams lmaoooo🎉
When the crew 2 came out, i thought it would be taking some inspiration from motorstorm's concept. But no it was far from this masterpiece of a game. I just wish a new motorstorm was created but without Evolution studios it seems impossible.
Ive been wanting motorstorm to come back for ages, still my all time favorite racing games ever made. Sucks they didnt last all to long, they made what four games?
Motorstorm and Motorstorm Pacific Rift were awesome fun, and I really want to get set up with either emulating the games, or get the PS3 set up again on the telly cause I loved the games
Motorstorm is definitely one the most underrated racing series out there and I only ever played one of the games. Motorstorm Apocalypse was the one I had and the crashes made it hella fun but for me I always wanted some free roam in my racing games and I don’t remember it having any. Another great slept on game was Fuel, also hella fun with a huge free roam map
Neil you have to play driven to destruction (test drive eve) in some regions, it was the og ps2 destruction derby game and one of the few from the time that had good crash physics it's like a predecessor to wreckfest
Noooooo wayyyyy!!!!!! I haven’t seen this game since 2013 on my dad’s ps3!!!! I was only like 3 or 4 at the time i played it but I loved motorstorm. Truly nostalgic.
If you want a game similar to this, (destruction and racing) Test Drive: Eve of Destruction is a great game if you haven’t played it yet, pretty decent campaign for a game from 2004, Again HIGHLY Recommend
You should play Downhill Domination! It’s on PS2 and it’s from the creators of twisted metal, and the company that now makes the new god of war games. It’s a downhill bmx battle game. It’s insane
Yeah, and it had the original version of a Black Eyed Peas song that eventually wasn't so politically correct after a while, but I put the game on the level of SSX for downhill fun.
Oh my god, this was my childhood. I absolutely adore these games, motor storm and motor storm pacific rift. This, paired with the offroading that I actually did with my pops growing up, created my absolutely love for off roading and desire to get into it. Lol, some of the music is so iconic and brings back so many memories. If anyone likes these types, I suggest going back to these, absolutely amazing!! Thank you for bringing it back Neil!
Played this on a PS3 kiosk and it blew my mind back in 2006 man this was absolutely cutting edge. This and Pacific rift still looks good along with Burnout Paradise
They used to have a display PS3 in the Ikea and it had Motorstorm on it with 2 controllers. Used to go there once a month just for the game and play with other visitors, mom did her shopping and always knew to find me near the ps3. Then we'd get the classic dinner inside the Ikea and head home.
I remember buying this for 1 dollar at gamestop because the servers went offline. But now many of the MS games have online again thanks to fan servers!
