There's quite a few moments in Studio Ghibli films that give me ASMR. There's something about the quiet focus of the animation mixed with fantastic foley work that is pure bliss. This game is like stepping foot into a Studio Ghibli film and it's perfect ASMR. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. I'll be finishing the game in a future episode (it's not a long game) coming soon so look out for that!

5:11 this scene is absolutely a reference to Howl’s Moving Castle! Sophie cooks the eggs in a cast iron pan and makes toast to go with it. Also, the basket that the eggs are in is almost identical to the one in Howl’s

I feel like she’s imagining the old man and how his life was. Maybe he passed away and shes just trying to put herself in his shoes by redoing his art. That’s why she recognizes his paintings and the flower box in her house

I just wanted to let you know that if you look at the notebook her idea of what colors go on the painting is already their for you to copy. 🎨💖 I also have a theory that makes alot of sense so don't read if you want a surprise ending. ⬇️ (this might end up being obvious tho) What if she is past away and that's why he doesn't acknowledge her and why they look like the people in the pictures. Its why everything is so familiar and odd. They are lovers and he is righting her notes to get all his feelings out.

If you had paid more attention in the first 2 minutes, you wouldn't need to spend the whole game wondering which color goes where. The game showed you that her notebook has a colored sketch of the painting. Not only are you shown immediately what the painting is supposed to look like, but you could have checked the notebook anytime you wanted.

@@JubileeWhispers okay, so I think the old guy doesn't exist, she is just imagining him, and maybe he is her dad and also the man in the paintings, but when he was younger. And the woman in the paintings might be her mother. OR, the girl is the woman in the painting and she is actually dead but still kind of hanging around and the old man is her husband who has aged. Something like that I bet! Was it similar to yours?

the painter’s journal actually tells you which color goes where so you don’t have to guess which color goes where on her main painting.

What's funny is that Miyazaki would never approve of a game based on Studio Ghibli stuff. Any other "version" of his films and ideas are a big no no. That's why you'll never see a sequel or prequel to a studio Ghibli film. The story is told in one film only. He wants us to imagine what could have been after or before.

i think J is the old man - at the beginning we saw him with the white and orange cat when we first went him into his perspective . but , when we first see the old man he has an orange cat . we also see that his white and orange cat gave birth to that same orange cat :) . i think the girl he met was the past owner of the apartment we live in , and she just left all her paintings in the apartment . maybe she 😵 and thats why the old man wont talk to us . we are both artists after all so maybe we just reminded him too much of his lover .....
