It was the Dreamcast version that got awards, not DX. DX version is a honest to god he remaster as far as the character models and stuff goes. But some people prefer Dreamcast version style. Also ui is not that small on gcn
I used to think that this game was terrible when I was playing the DX version, but then I used that better DX mod and the game was way better How did they make it bad with the remaster lmao
@@toopienator DX isn't necessarily buggier than DC (DX and DC overall have the same bugs, DX just has weaker collision. DX did at least make it to where Tails can go up the stairs outside his workshop without clipping through the stairs though) I do agree that DX looks worse (Especially the later ports) but we don't have enough context here. Perhaps they grew up with DX and have fond memories with it.
Dont be confused by everyone else's comments here regarding DX vs Dreamcast. I've played through both. The only thing the Dreamcast original has over DX is better textures and resolution. There is no freecam option in the pause menu meaning if the camera bugs, there is nothing the player can do except trust that the game will reoriant itself. A lot of people say that that DX is buggier than the Dreamcast international release but I found that all the bugs in DX are still present in the Dreamcast. In fact, there were more on the Japanese release of the game. The game just puts up a bit more of a fight to prevent those bugs from occuring. Finally, a bit of advise. If you ever try to replay Casinopolis in the future, try to lose the pinball games before collecting 100 rings. You'll be ported to an underground sewer section of the level where you will be able to collect more rings a lot faster than in either pinball areas. This doesn't fix the fact that it ruins a first time playthrough. In fact, you can interpret this as Sonic Team willingly programming a flaw into that level just to extend playtime. A first time player is never going to know until they figure it out themself. I only discovered it by accident on my third playthrough and it changed the flow if the entire level. Anyway, good luck playing the collectathon portion of the game (& Knuckles).
DX *technically* is a bit less buggy than DC International, but it seems like DX has weaker collision than DC, causing the shared collision bugs to be a lot more noticeable in normal gameplay, which isn't great when paired with some game logic not being updated for 60FPS and thus running at 2X speed in DX. It also replaced the lighting engine and materials, causing things like glowing water and everyone looking like plastic (And for whatever reason the lighting got drastically worse with each version of DX, which is probably part of the reason SADX mod loader reverts the Steam port to the earlier PC port. I'm not sure if the UI bugs shown in this video existed in the 2004 PC port either) On top of the lighting, textures, and materials, they also replaced the models for the main cast, but they modified the SA2 Battle models for this, causing the main cast to not fit in stylistically with NPCs FORTUNATELY, the Dreamcast conversion mod exists and allows us to have the good parts of both DX and DC on PCs. (I wouldn't say it is truly a conversion as it does leave the bug fixes that DX added and it fixes some bugs that did exist on DC but were harder to spot due to more solid collision, but it's at the very least what I would consider a true DX version of SA1)
When it comes to which version of sonic adventure to play i recommend the PC version but with the dreamcast conversion mod. Gives you the best of both worlds. You get the better graphics and fixed visuals alongside the good qol additions of DX
ur playing the version that made the game look absolutely awful (every texture and model were replaced with inferior version) have way too many issues with gameplay and engine, and it makes the UI really messed up too on PC. I'd play the original sonic adventure on dreamcast instead
Playing on DC has it's own issues. Dreamcast conversion is the best way to play Adventure since it has the best aspects of both versions of Adventure. Dreamcast visuals, DX bugfixes (Yes, it did actually fix a few bugs), and general bugfixes with framerate and collision handling
Don't want to fuel the "DX vs DC" debate rn but the DC is objectively better than the Gamecube version Cybershell made a good video on it if you'd like to check it out but basically there are a lot of weird lighting bugs and texture issues on DX that make the game look ugly in certain areas Just things like the lighting engine and reflections not working well on Gamecube it may seem minor but it kind of piles up all at once, death by a thousand papercuts Basically I never minded the GC version though the DC version just looks way better and lacks the infamous "Emerald Coast loop" bug
