Normally I do an eBay search then filter sold and completed items and that tells me what people paid over the last 90 days. Then I compare to what is listed to figure out a sell through rate. The last thing I showed is actually from Worthpoint and it’s a paid membership of I think $24 a month. Kind of pricey but it has up to 10 years of eBay sold history and really good for rare or hard to find items. I use it daily.
Should have taken the stand! The are ridiculously expensive now and sewists want them! I had two in the 90’s. Wish I had one back! My Grammy had one of the carts when I was a kid. It was a workhorse, that awesome 70”a green and I wish I had that back, too. I wish I’d never had a yard sale in my life!!’
The funny thing about the integrated stand/table, is that's it's probably more expensive than the sewing machine itself... Learned the hard way 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I grew up learning to sew on and then sewing sooooo many pieces of clothing on vikings. My mother had a sewing shop - patterns, fabric, classes, and ONLY Husqvarna Viking sewing machines. They had different cams you could insert for stitchery patterns. And they would sew through leather. The guys recognize, I'm sure, the Husqvarna brand from another item: chain saws. The sewing machines last forever. I don't know about the chain saws lol
Never had a problem with their chainsaws but never knew they made sewing machines @@tmitsis3446cool info, wish I'd learned how to sew from my mom, but didn't think I'd have use for the skill much
Agreed. It's a form of disrespect towards the seller. Think about it---you know it's worth and yet you still ask for more off the selling price. Come on man.
My grandparents did garage sales long before the internet. They took their buys to the flea market and supplemented their retirement with the profits and it gave them something to do together. Gramps fixed anything that needed fixing
@@bobsemple9341 …. Just a personal observation but you feel differently which is fine …. that is just another way of taking advantage of people but I hope no one baby’s you when they deal with you !!! Enjoy your day 🤠
That’s the game though, they’re willing to part with it and they should’ve either done the research or not sold it, it’s not like you can simply just buy and make money instantly there’s a lot of work that goes into taking pictures of the product, listing it, finding a buyer and posting it
We rarely do yard sales anymore due to this type stuff. It was once to clean up around the house and help others who could use it. But now my wife and I decided due to those buying and re-selling, if those in need couldn’t get it then we’d just sell online or give it to Goodwill.
Skip Goodwill, it's a corporation run by the king of these scumbag people. Goodwill is NOT A charity. They take your donations and sell them, for profit, not to give to charity. Try looking for a real local charity in your area. Rescue missions and schools sometimes take certain items like coats and even household goods if they know if a family in need.
@@broodieivie207 Except its not, every product takes up valuable real estate (which costs money), needs to be listed (which costs money) and then shipped (which costs money). Your products need to have enough profit margin to be worth the cost of selling it, otherwise you will make a loss even if it sells for something.
God I hate people who go to flea markets, yard sales, thrift stores and antique places who buy only with the intent to immediately resell. Things I want or need for myself that I don't want to get gouged on online and in person & used is the last place to get a good deal on things and here you come ruining all that checking every goddamn thing on your phone. It's cheaper to buy clothes on clearance at department stores now than used clothing at the thrift stores near me, thanks a lot.
I agree I'd much rather sell tools and other items to those looking to use them rather than just make money off of them. Sadly it's hard to tell with most people what they're intention is.
I dont necessarily agree that its blasphemy to say God damn. When i say it im literally saying "God send this stupid shit to hell" lol. Im exercise my judgement. Btw everything on your phone is God damned. This is the devils black mirror. The central banks are taking all the money back. Thats why things are getting harder. The bible is coming true. Seek Christ. Its easy to do.
I made a great find at an estate sale. I bought a ww1 era all metal cast toy for $1 and I sold it for $95 last week. These videos got me back into the mood of checking sales. I mainly deal in military stuff so it's hard to come by at most sales.
I grew up in Husqvarna, near the factory where they were making this. It’s a small city known for it’s factory. It has a lot of history and it’s really cool to see that something you grew up with is known all over the world.
So you think you're being clever by making this hey look at my frugality skills video on RU-vid but didn't take the custom sewing machine stand? Seems like you just threw away money to me m8 👍
Because of people that buy stuff at garage sales? She wants to sell it, he wants to buy it. They negotiated a price. Random people on the internet are the only ones who have a problem with this.
That's like the time my mom bought a Compact Tristar vacuum cleaner for 30$, mostly because they didn't know what they had. We still have it today, 12 years later. Easily one of three vacuum cleaners you should always keep your eye out for. I also managed to find another one a couple weeks ago for 80$, but it was missing the power head.
You want the stand/base for all sewing machines. Otherwise it has to be left in the ugly white case and people don't want that in their house. I had a 1918 singer that sold for 70 bucks without the base and over 600 with it.
Yeah, even as someone who doesn't sew, I would've taken the base as all my relatives sew a lot and the ones that have a base compared to my grandma and aunt who don't, having it displayed on a base when not in use looks much better
The problem is shipping, that stand looks like a 70s/80s fake wood paneling style stand and would need a huge box to ship, and would likely add little to no real value to the sale. A bit different than a 1918 Singer with a cast iron & oak cabinet.
How have you not heard of that brand the sowing machine is? They’re literally one of the biggest brands of stuff like chainsaws mowers, weed eaters, etc.
Asking for a lower price on something he knows is already a good price, lol. I want to say, what a putz... But why not try and make as much as you can on a return investment. If they're willing to take less, why not.
@@BlackHole171 ok but if they don't and you do you should still have some morals. And you also don't know why they're selling. Some yard sales are for items they just want to get rid of and others do it to scrounge up cash as quickly as possible due to necessity. None the less if something is selling for $190 and you have an opportunity to buy it for $30, just pay the damn $30. You still make $160.
Honestly that cart could be a good island type area for the kitchen. Could be used for a cutting area or just a area to put stuff on so u don't have to carry it
I see it that way too. The lady is giving good deals because she isn't trying to rip off people and most likely thinks the guy just can't afford new things. It also so wrong to ask to get something for a lower price just to be sure you profit off it, this guy isn't even that confident in what he does, which makes him look like when more of an A.... Hole.
I work at a boarding school where we have donation shipping containers filled with all types of profitable items weekly. It's been a blessing for side income.
I have a friend who had a garage/estate sale when her father died. She knew she was selling her father’s belongings way under their value, but she just wanted to get rid of everything. She has a really good job that pays more than what she would make taking the time to sell every item online. For some people selling things online is not worth the hassle. And for those who are willing to put forth the effort, there’s no reason they shouldn’t benefit from it.
Shipping isn't free. If you haggle $5 on 100 items a week, that's $500 per week just by asking. If you understood how reselling worked, you would be shocked he didn't take the stand and toss it for the extra $5.
When you are so dumb that you criticise someone that is actually using his brain. What is your problem if he was able to pay 5$ less and that MAY allow him to make 180$??
Why you acting like her forced her to take down the price? The point of a garage sell is to get rid of your junk… Sure if you make decent cash while doing that, it’s also great. But, she agreed to the price so why you acting like it’s a big deal?
Don’t get me wrong, I love your content so much but the fact that you knew you could sell that for like 200 dollars and still asked the lady to buy it for less than what she’s selling it for gives me the ick… but whatever
Why? His intention was clear he is purchasing goods to resell and make a profit? He looked up the brand and price of the item because he had never heard of the brand before. The seller intended to sell the items cheap and quickly due to the fact she chose to sell them below market value l. If her intention was to maximize profit/take then she would have sold them online at the current market value 🤷🏽♂️.
@@jaidenproctor7178 you don't do it before you buy it . Having the knowledge is one thing but price checking items at the sellers house and before you buy them is disgraceful
What this guy teaches all the seller is doing their homework and knowing your price. Everyone has a smartphone and knows how to google. The work you put out will reward you later.
Man, you're just making it harder for the rest of us to get a deal, people realizing that they can get more for what they have isn't good for the bargain hunter.. thank guy
People have known the "secret" of garage sales for decades. You must be younger. You will find it is a lot of work and probably not worth the effort even though the goods are priced so low.
Love the channel! Also have you ever ran into a take what you want everything’s free yard sell over ran into 3 of them this month lots of amazing stuff
He could have at least not tried to haggle with her when he knew he was going to profit anyway. She is already giving good deals but he just has to keep on trying to squeeze more out of her for his own profit.
@Dissmor2 I get what you're saying, and I agree with you a bit. But my integrity won't allow me to just haggle the lady when you can make 5x more with the sewing machine. I would of asked her why so cheap if it's selling for ~180? If she knows then I wouldn't mind taking it and flipping it.
@@theforce5191 you're right it just doesn't feel right, there's just two kinds of people I suppose. Screwing over people is considered "sound business practice" business types make my skin crawl so deceptive.
@Dissmor2 This is how the western world operates buddy. You guys live to screw the lower classes over. He’s being a PoS and you’re just as bad as he is for acceptance of the behavior.
I have a lot of stuff I need to sell. My dad was a pack rat and I inherited the house with everything in it. I've tried to sell a few things some things were really nice and I would price things fair just to get them out. You know I never got what I priced them at people want me to just give stuff away. I lost a lot of money. Even junk stuff I would be fair, like 4 old gas weedOP wackers. I priced them at $5 a piece. Could'nt sell them. Tried for months. People told me there too expensive. I ended up trashing them. Even things that were brand new still in the box never opened with the original price tag on it, I'd knock $10 off and that wasn't enough. Now I'm stuck with alot of stuff I'm not going to use.
Yo I found a 150 dollar paintball marker at a yard sale and it has custom parts so its worth even more. It works great just needs new o-rings and it'll work great
Stay ahead of trends. Economy goes down, people buy different things then when economy goes up, so purchase accordingly. Before the trend becomes a trend.
I'm about to make some good money from this garage sale so I saw this travel trailer for 25 dollars which was Cinda a rip off butbi bought to anyway and ended up making 20k off it so that's a win
Buddy missing out on the stand that goes with the sewing machin, people who sew want to have a stand because it's at the correct level for the sewing machine. you don't just plop a sewing machine on a table if you're making a quilt it's going to kill your back. A quality machine like a Husqvarna deserves to go with the stand that it comes with, Husqvarna also has a trade-in policy we're upon which you can get a minimum amount to trade in your old the old machine to get a newer machine so next time you run into a Husqvarna bring it to a dealership and see what you can get in for a trade in price and sell it for that.
