Recently, Ola revealed the Gen 3 platform for their upcoming electric two-wheelers. Looking at this reveal I realised that Ola will be using a motor which no one uses for electric vehicles. Watch this video to learn more about the Gen 3 motor of Ola

I'm not from OLA engineering team but if you know the working of SynRM you know inherently they are not self starting the RMF speed is calibrated in such a way that it aligns with rotor, here OLA rotor has field windings. Also in various shaft load conditions it dynamically adjust. So here is the kick about Torque ripples . Ola ha smartly engineered this by MCU Firware.

Totally agreed. The engineers would have kept the field windings pretty close so that rotor doesnt have to jump larger angular distance which can reduce the torque ripple. Simultaneously, they could have mechanical reduced the torque ripple by implementing a balancer shaft. But I still question about compromising the regenerative ability of the motor. And I have a feeling that you didn't watch the video well because before I used the term Torque Ripple, I mentioned that the motor they showcased looks like a Switched Reluctance Motor and not SynRM. SynRM doesn't really have the issue of Torque Ripple.

may be thay will use more than one motor ..like multi cylinder engine to overcome this issue 😅😅😅

I had major concern when Ola ev said Gen3 battery pack is part of chassis 😬

You shouldnt be worried about that. EV manufacturers do need to produce structurally sound battery enclosure so that the battery cells dont get damaged under mechanical loading. So basically Ola's idea of using battery enclosure as a stressed member of its frame is actually safe.

Bhaiya automobile engineering India se karna better hai from iits ya foreign se like us universities and Germany etc.. ?

IIT mein automobile engineering ka separate course nahi padhaya jata, sirf IIT Chennai mein iska alag course hoga. Other than that yes there are good universities in India that offer Bachelor's in Automobile Engineering and yes you will need to self learn alot here

Yes both BLDC and PMSM motor can provide Regenerative Braking as both motors have permanent magnets mounted in the rotor of the motor.

How about this magnet free synchronous motor (Seperately Excited Synchronous Motor [SESM])? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ck2dSk6Dyk.html . The rotor uses electromagnets instead of permanent magnets thus having the benefit of variable magnetic strength

The video that you shared is providing incorrect information. He is describing the construction and working of SynRM, but the thing is no electricity will be produced in a conductor if there is no varying magnetic field present around it. Thats basic Faraday's Law of induction. Also every motor has field windings in their stator, also known as Stator windings. These windings are nothing but electromagnets. Every motor has electromagnets in their stator. But because there are permanent magnets present on the rotor of BLDC and PMSM motors, they can produce electricity when the rotor keeps rotating due to its inertia and this varying magnetic field will produce electricity in the stator windings because of Faraday's law of induction.

@@PurvangMantri no, that's not a reluctance motor. Just google "i2sm", this is made by ZF

@@PurvangMantri it's not a reluctance motor. Can u search "Brushless Alternator"? It's very common in powerplants. i2sm is the newer design made by ZF
