@@Hypercube1729 Just goes to show that frames aren't everything if you're a master at a character. That's dedication to you. Tier whores in shambles since T7 world tour.
Please can People STOP leaving Spoiler Comments - Luckily I personally already knew the result - but if I didn't I'd be pissed seeing that comment that would ruin the watch.
@RenTheDragon1975 if you come down to the comments before watching the vid that's on you big man. I get it tho, but he's been covering the vids in order and has kept it spoiler free. The results have been out, just enjoy his analysis and commentary. That's why we watch PhiDX, if you wanted to watch the tournament you'd just watch that.
The "Legacy players can't play the game well, therefore T8 is not consistent" crowd would be eating up their own words if it wasn't because they have no critical thinking skills.
I had already seen the vod before, but it was so hype even on the second watch, especially with Phi's additional commentary 🔥 those were some enjoyable matches
29:47 i wanted to add (edit: a lot of) things since it isnt immediately obvious if you dont know much about bears but: 1. 2,1 (the high mid) jab string is being used for the same reason nobi feels fuzzy ducking there, which is bears don't have mid pokes. The only mid they gave which can be considered a poke is df4, but it has pretty much no range and is absurdly linear unlike other fishhooks or df1s which do track to one side usually, and all other mids are either slower than 14 frames, or unsafe. 2,1 thus becomes a a crucial mid poke. Btw if you're fighting against a bear and they do wr1+2 into df4 just backdash and you'll be fine. 2. The reason rangchu is ducking is to enfore the threat of fc d1. Apart from having no mid pokes, bears also have no low pokes in the neutral (you'll see rangchu do db3 on occasion (specifically oki) but that one doesn't high crush and has no range so is suited to oki, db2 is launch on block and does very low damage+is -1 on hit. So if you go back you'll see a sequence rangchu did early on which was dickjab to high crush and then fc d1, which is the only low that counts as a low poke in the bear kit. So by ducking he can enforce the threat of a fc d1, though less favourably a mid because the mids are either low range or unsafe. 3. The forced 50/50 panda has isn't really a 50/50 in complete favor of panda, nobi doesnt seem to know but you can hopkick/rage art the low and armor/heat burst the mid. It's pretty much a 50/50 on the bear's side too, and both options are -12 OB. 4. Rangchu is playing incredibly compact but dont let this fool you from the fact that 80%-90% of the bear kit is punishable or high, he's making it work because he's rangchu and not because he's playing a panda. 5. Charge moves are interruptible both in and out of heat, the latter even on hit, but not on counterhit and not by armored moves as bear charged moves are the only moves in the game that crush armor right now. They're also only +3, whether in or out of heat. Nobi not interrupting them is his fault, coz you can interrupt them even if they charge it just a bit/half charge. 6. Hatchet kicks etc. work just fine on bears but the only character in the game who has issues landing clean hits with their lows is paul, who's the only character rn who retains a meaningful difference between clean hits and normal hits. Feng used to have issues if he did heat 3+4 from range 4 and expected his bt sweep to launch (it shouldn't, but it did a lot of characters), otherwise he's consistent with it too. 7. Nobi didnt mash out of the heat engage, one of the onlu ways bears ensure a real hunting bear mixup is ff1+2, which is 37 frames long, so a common bear trick is to use it after a heat engager. He knew it was coming because that's tekken 8 bear 101. It's extremely confirmable too, like slower than a snake edge isnt it? 8. Also the uf3,4 isn't a hopkick per se, it's a low crush but they are a non launching (in most situations) moves that are only -11 and have a followup. 9. 37:59 that's hidden bear tech, so that isnt a launcher but in a very situational spacing it can do that. Also the booty is guaranteed but it's no range and -14, so is mostly just a grounded followup move 10. 42:36 so here we get an open stage, and contrary to popular belief, as we get into this match, bears are much more comfortable in open stages than in walls. Here they don't get hit by bear specific combos or die to pressure especially since bears cannot step, backdash, or have armor like gigas/king/jack, wall pressure usually means bears will 1,1,1 or b1, which are -15 and -13 respectively. But in the open bear twin piston range ges used best, and again as we see, bears have some nasty combos in the open as well. Everything rangchu did in the yakushima stage, combo wise, was guaranteed. The u3+4 (sit) combo ender is guaranteed and sit 1 is also guaranteed; the f4 into ff1+2 (hunting bear) is a guaranteed oki mixup; the heat roll into unscaled d1+2 (booty) is guaranteed. All this is only possible because of heat burst btw so once per match, and only if the bear main knows, and wastes 2 bars of heat, but that's all you need per round anyways.
Hey Phidx, I’m loving the way u format ur videos, it allows me to zoom in with my iPhone and have it cover the whole screen without cutting any thing out
I also appreciate you talking clearly and enunciating your words! As a deaf person your auto captions are one of the best (it doesn’t catch names but it does catch directions and numbers)
Kuma does not need walls at all Phi. Landing a df21 normal hit with Kuma leads to a touch of death sequence where you are basically forced to block Moonbear into blue roll and guess correctly on a big damage 50/50. The mid option will kill you.
I know there are cyborgs, demons, magic users, etc. in this game but the thought of a fighting tournament just allowing a bear to enter and fight against humans is endlessly funny to me.
Damn, I forgot how insane Nobi is with Dragunov, so many specific punishes hitting consistently, not a single neutral cancel missed and an unquestionable defense, that was very impressive from him, to say the least!
49:39 Nobi frickin banked on him whiff punishing there or catching a counter hit it is so wild and so immpressive to see, i legit had to rewatch this 4 times it is so cool
I still can't believe that the bear electric beat Claudio's running 2 in that final round. I am surprised you didn't comment on that Phi. That was just tragic...5:52 pause it...
@@mastergaming-wd4zh electrics tend to have high crush, but this is beyond normal crushing. He was basically parallel with the floor at some point due to how low he ducked, it's just crazy.
I am a big Arsalan fan, but this time, i am glad these guys played the final as its one of the most intense, amazing and full of back and forth finale that i have ever witnessed. I thought Rangchu won but the way Nobi made a comeback, AMAZEBALLS. For me, this is one of the, if not the best finals i have witnessed. Props to these guys for this thriller.
Yo let's go Nobi! Dragunov mains represent! For him to be able to keep his cool after he got robbed on that rage art and then come in and fully dominate and crush that stupid Bee Bear Panda on the final set was awesome!
halfway into the first match i was like oooh, "this grand final is *unbearable"* i get the video name now, i'm so slow. rooted for bear the rest of the way; that was a good title i think, it could still play out either way, so tense... finishes. not titled that at all. >.
Personally I feel like these match/tournament reviews should be done as one big video cause ultimately splitting them up like this doesn't really help with anything. If you plan on watching the entire tournament you're going to have to sit through hours of footage no matter how you cut it and if you're just looking for a specific match then it's inconvenient having to wait a day or two for it to get uploaded. Plus it's kinda messy imo having the same tournament split into several videos it seems simpler and neater to have it all in one video. But this is all just my 2 cents if this is what the majority wants it is what it is
Bro this was INSANE I was rooting for Rangchu to reset, then he actually reset AND started to run Nobi over, then I felt bad and wanted Nobi to at least put up a close fight if not win, but then he comes out of nowhere, runs Rangchu over and wins the whole thing. Oh my god I was going insane watching this holy shit lol
Can you make a follow-up video on your Reina/Sydeon video? Even if it dosent have her featured in the video. I got to Purple Ranks by only using the moves and strategy in your video and I want the next steps to get better.
Kuma is definitely NOT C or D tier, lmfao. Easy A tier at the very least. INSANE chip damage and damage in general. In heat could probably be considered an S tier.
