Evening, Mark... My Dad grew up in Westfield, New Jersey. In the late '30s, on Saturday afternoons he and his pals would take the train over to the movie theatre in Manhattan. More than once, "The Boys" did a skit or two, live on stage. Dad said they were pretty disappointing, as there were no sound effects. Pretty cool, hu - he actually SAW The Stooges, in person!
Wow that is so cool! The closest I got was to meet Emil, Christine, and Helen at a Moe Howard tribute held at The Old Movie Theatre in Buena Park, California in 1975. Unfortunately, Moe died a few weeks before the tribute, but the others all showed up like the true pros they were. These days I get to see members of Moe's, Larry's and Shemp's family every year in person at The Alex Theatre in Glendale, California every Saturday after Thanksgiving for the Alex's annual Stooge film festival.
Moe:Larry Fine, Larry Fine, La.. (Smacks Larry in the head) Why, you nitwit! Shemp: Got alot of crust you have. Moe:Wonder who this is. Shemp Howard, Shemp Howard, Shemp.. (Slap)What's the matter with you? Shemp:I'm coming right back. Moe:Hey, this guy must have a tape worm. Moe Howard, Moe Howard, Moe... (Shemp and Larry looks at Moe as he slaps them both in the face):What are you guys looking at? Get outta here!
