I'm in the course now. I've been playing like an asshole for 48 years. I'm committed to the program and I'm finally beginning to understand what the hell I'm doing. Well worth it.
If ur feeling extra fancy go up an octave, that's what I do to work on opening up the fretboard. It's easy to find where it starts and play the same shapes and harmonizing is always pretty. For ppl who don't know: to easily find a higher octave for any note, for the E and A string you wanna go down two strings (example: E -> D) and over two frets (example: 10 E -> 12 D). For the D and G string, go down two strings (example: D -> B) and over 3 frets (example: 10 D -> 13 B).
@@NickATFGuitarMan That's a very valid comment, but I 1. love buying gizmos, parts, tools and stuff, even if I don't really need them and 2. there's a certain value in making my own backing track.
Can I play through note changes by playing the corresponding modes of the C minor scale, or by playing the equivalent Major and minor scales for each change?
Aye brandon i got a question I have played a long time ive 'ever had a problem with creating toughened finger tips and in 15 or better years of playing ive never had a pro lem with pressing too hard why now are my fingertips hetting destroyed? My skin on my ring finger is ripping and i have deep string prints how did this become a thing am i going backwards has this happened to u
Love your videos but they would be greater without the curse words. My kids are in the same space and they shouldn't be hear this. Thanks for the awesome tips though.
At 6:34 you barre an A-shape using your pinky; does that mute string 1 or are you able to get enough of a bend in your pinky so it does not? Excellent video, BTW!
theory here is all over the place lol Too complitated shit,i'm still soloing using my feelings and just choosing any good notes i find. It's much easier,i just can hear it. I don't even know the chord progressions in my favorite songs :D
Think of it more like key of E major making B the 5th. It does have the assignment as a dominant chord but doesn’t have to be. In this context it’s kind of a standard descending rock progression 6 5 4 1 even tho it’s C#m it’s not a very “sad” sound and still feels kind of upbeat. Try playing it with a B7 and it sounds funny and doesn’t really fit
I’m working at understanding the timing after the 3 minute mark. I can almost not quite read nomenclature from choir at school. I wish I could go to choir at church because let me get those straight they kicked me out because of a charge I didn’t plea to wasn’t convicted of and was taken back by witnesses, but alas I’m trying and I cannot play there or sing there. Or three other churches though I have a good possibly better musical vision. Anyway I can read uncomplicated tab. I started trying to learn the lick by ear then noticed there was tab. The timing after 3 minutes is hard, the speed is probably ok. 👍🏾 Trying. I want to learn how to play those quicker legato in a stylistic way.
surprisingly good suggestions) never expected this kind of video to be this helpful.. I am not talking doing everything like the dude in the video says.. but i did find multiple new things to think about. If you approach the video with the attitude to teach yourself and not expecting everything to be mouth fed to you - this is excellent
