We need to talk about this most recent Stadium Series game which saw the New York Rangers take on the New York Islanders. All that and more on today's NHL hockey video
As an aside, there is so much negative press around MLB, Nike and Fanatics about the cheap and poorly designed pro baseball jerseys. Seems NHL knows to make the name tags and number BIGGER for stadium play. Shame MLB or Nike doesn’t know this.
So glad I went to this, not the rangers game, the devils cause I’m a devils fan and when’s the next time a outdoor games gonna be in jersey, screw u rags, and u to hawks cause y y’all gotta go to the winter classic again
I was at the other stadium series game this year and this is exactly what I’d say. Sure it’s freezing and you can barely see the players and it’s expensive as hell but it’s so fun. The energy, the volume, the sheer amount of fans. And my devs won so that’s a huge plus as well. Probably the second best game I’ve ever been to.
*ECK:* Hey! How was your trip to China? *FRIEND:* Great! Hey! I got ya something while I was over there. *ECK:* Whoa! A Ryan Callahan jersey.....wait. This says the "New Yark Ringers"....
And by the way, why was Lafreniere not given 2 for diving on that Mayfield trip? It looked like an awfully easy fall when I saw it live on the broadcast, but after rewatching it, it looked so much more blatant
I like the different camera angles you sometimes get with outdoor games. It's a small detail, but seeing everything from the same 10 perspectives for years on end makes it refreshing to see things from something like an overhead cable camera.
Shesty got better as the game went on, Isle’s goalie was weak too which made for an interesting game Between two top goaltenders, both off their games somewhat so you knew any rush down ice might wind up a goal. Also, the Rangers did managed to even the ice out by mid-game after being thoroughly outplayed the first half of the game. then took advantage of the power plays and the goalie pulls. being a rangers fan, I’m inbred to hate the Islanders lol but Matt Martin pulled one of the classiest moves I’ve ever seen from anyone in an islander shirt. For Rempe, a 6’8” 140lb bruiser on his 1st shift in the NHL to be offered a scrum with the veteran legendary tough guy…just a classy move by Martin. And Rempe held his own quite well!!!
What's funny to me is their jerseys, if you take their names out the isles look like an Oilers jersey and for Rangers a winnipeg jersey. (Of course not their main jersey but rather an alternative that they've once both had were very similar)
They showed this stat during the game but the rangers were 4-0-0 in outdoor games and lavi was 0-3-1 in outdoor games What a way to get lavi his first win in an outdoor game 😂
A friend of mine ordered a Callahan jersey from China, and when it arrived, the Captain's C was actually a G. All our friends started calling it the Gallahan jersey. 😂
Just paused at 1:16 for this, calling the deflection goal pretty soft on Igor’s part is just so wrong, deflected shots are 99% of the time up to luck if the goalie saves it or not
Had to be Sorokin vs Shesterkin though, and it's the stadium series. There was no reason not to play Igor, he just got a shut out. Also, not sure if it would have made a difference because Quick let up 4 goals against the Canadiens. With that logic, he probably would have let up these goals as well
I really like your videos Eck, but you genuinely need to do some research before you make these. Firstly, to give the kid proper credit, his name is Matt Rempe (Rem Pay) Secondly, that wasn’t his only 1 second he got. He played 4 minutes and change throughout the game.
As an Isles fan I watched.....with ZERO CONFIDENCE they could close it out. Lee is offically useless as the captain....give it to Horvatt....NOW!! Trade Martin, Trade Mayfield and start benching anyone giving it 99%....being nice time is over
I have no idea why anyone would want to go to this. It's cold. You have to sit far away. I could have gone to the one when the Wild did theirs. Even if it was decent out, I don't want to have to watch the game with binoculars.
Stadium series is for seeing LIVE and in-person..not as good as football but vastly superior to soccer or “football to 3rd worlders”. To be there with a huge crowd surrounded by friends & family “en plein air” comes close to NFL experience. (Post Script-soccer/football slight was purely intentional)
I was at work watching. Down 1-4 and I go "I might put money on the Rangers to comeback or someone should." Sure enough I didn't, and they fucking did it and won. I was kicking myself for not betting on it. 🤣
It's time for Lou to realize that these Isles are simply not a playoff team. They are mediocre, at best. How many games have they lost where they've had multi-goal leads in the third period? The core guys are aging, and they're not the defensive stalwarts that they were back in 2020 & 2021 when they reached back-to-back conference finals.
scottie mayfield threw this game so hard, giving 3 penalties which gave 3 goals, should've been a 5-2 win for isles. i hope mayfield doesn't see the ice for a long time
I thought it was a cool concept with having Devils Vs Flyers the night before and this game day after. Plus it helps that my home state Devils pulled out a nice win over Philly. All in all, an action filled weekend stadium series. Both games were fun and exciting
@@frankt285 I love the guy, but he's letting in easy ones that he hasn't in the past. He'll get back to being himself, but right now, he's not playing his best.
The strangest part of this game, wasn't anything on the ice. It was the people paid to walk back and forth in that "park" at the broadcast left. A guy walking his dog, a woman pushing a stroller, people riding bikes.
The absolute best play of that game was during the final power play. Isles had a chance to clear towards an empty Ranger net but the shot was too low and Fox hit the puck down out of mid air to keep it in the offensive zone and they end up scoring. Had the puck gone down the ice there may have been a much different outcome. The pressure against the Isles was sustained and brutal. It’s little plays like that by Fox or others than can change an outcome and most people didn’t even notice. I’m not a huge fan of these outdoor games just because the camera work seems to be from so far away. But the NHL has really upped their game and this recent series was much better.
This is terrible goalie coaching from the rangers. You don’t put a struggling goalie out of their element. Even if they have a good game. Now it will be harder for shirsty to get back into his comfort zone!
0:20 - What are you smoking over there? He played 4:26, not one second. Are you just guessing or did it just sound more amazing in your head, even if it's not true?
Man what happened to ur content, you used to cover A LOT more things around the league now you post less and its only about like the same 3 teams... always biased too. Lost a viewer
Don't get too excited Rangers fans. These guys are going nowhere. Don't get too down Islanders fans. Roy won't last long as the coach so there's a chance that someday there will be a coach that knows what he's doing.
Here’s a new drinking game…. Take a shot every time he mentions he’s a Rangers fan even when they have nothing to do with the topic the video is about he sneaks it in there…. Alcohol poisoning right there…
I was just there and it was so electric I can’t even describe !!! It was a good game overall, but I’m so happy the Rangers pulled through! For an 80,000 seat stadium, there were 79,690 fans in attendance (i’m in the red jacket at the top, right @2:17 irrelevant, but I have to flex I’m so proud)
This Rangers team had better get their excrement into 1 pile before the playoffs. They have a 7-game win streak going and should have lost at least 3 of those games because of their lackluster play and effort. Need more from Zib; he's the best all-around player on the team. Defensive zone coverage has been awful, with opponents getting point-blank open shots in front. Miller has to play better and needs to start using his size more. Shesty has been average at best. There is not enough depth, especially now that Chytil is not coming back. Wheeler is no great loss; we have enough slow players already. If they play like they did against the Isles, Black Hawks, and Habs, they won't be long for the post-season.
I sure cant keep up with the NHL rules... The net was off years ago that would have been no goal... The only consistency in the nhl is rules of the game.. Though by the way i could care less about any of the teams
Rule 63.7. The shot was released, the defense dislodged the net, the puck crossed the line. The net being dislodged had no impact on the puck ending up crossing the line, so had the net been not dislodged by the defense, the goal would have still counted anyways. Refs had the right to award a goal under these circumstances. I couldn't imagine how many times the defense could intentionally dislodge the net to prevent goals (especially game winning goals) had rules like 63.7 not been put in place.
