I grew up in a 1960 ranch in Lake county IlL north of Chicago. We lived there from 1978-1998. There were about 25 or so that looked like ours. It was nothing special originally dark green and white, then brick red aluminum siding. It was a basic 3 bedroom 1 bath with a dinning room open to the living room.
One thing that I do not get it is why they are expensive now? By no means except that have a cult followers, a non solid house made with STD materials; cheap wood; normal glass; not so many working hours (Dry construction is not the same as wet constructions) basic details etc could not be expensive. The designs are pretty good; mostly the ones by Quincy Jones.
