This is really cool. The good thing is that it's so quick and cheap to build that even if you can't be bothered with patching up the pit, you can just move the base to a new area and start over.

I personally like having a horde that *can* threaten me, and having to hold the line, but can't argue with the results! The only important flaw is how to get the loot? A ladder shaft 6 or so blocks away, and 2 blocks off from the floor so it's not a viable exit for the zombies.

Pit bases using explosives have been my go to for many alpha's now. They are just so xp efficient and simple! Your particular design shows this off very well! Nice job!

Great Base! Can you show how you would be able to get the loot from Bedrock?

Seems easy enough to possibly just make a new base I guess if it gets really bad. Might have to try this out. So far the best base I've made has just been a simple cage high up off the ground sitting on concrete and steel with a steel staircase and some narrow blocks with electric wire going all the way down the cat walk. I find that if too many are making it up and I don't kill zombies fast enough then it wears out my fences faster and they gradually are able to make it further and further to my position. So far little to no base damage, although I was originally going to have it be part pit base with the zombies that fell off but I didn't have the time or resources I wanted to make it fool proof and it became more of a liability for me so I patched it up. I spec'd intelligence early so I reached end game stuff very fast. On day 7 I had a crucible I got for as cheap as I could which was a bit of a calculated risk for me day 6. I had tons of money saved for the crucible but that was also the last day I had to buy a tier 5 tac assault rifle and some other really good weapon I could have definitely used but it would have cleaned me out. In my experience crucibles are not very rare to find even really early game without daring adventurer so I took the gamble and saved and it payed off as I had enough time to buy it, go home, get some steel going and forge a pump shotgun before the horde. I have yet to make a base that's very compatible with explosive so this definitely looks enticing although I think I personally would want the shaft to be more stable like concrete walls going all the way down that 5x5 drop since that should keep all zombies in a denser more vulnerable ball and hopefully when stuff does break it will ideally just become stronger as more and more concrete fills the holes they make. I also don't think you have to be on the ladders for them to fall you could just wait for them to try reaching you, failing, and blow them up when they start to fill up the pit. That would help with the cop spit anyway especially if going as deep as possible isn't the goal and truthfully I think I wouldn't do that myself just as preference.

That's a great build for ranged/explosive characters! Would an absolute nightmare in Afterlife, given how long it takes to generate that number of explosives...

This makes for a very good "last resort" base if you want to no longer be challenged. Like you said, "so OP you'll be bored" I prefer bases where there is managed risk, and I have to fight to make it through. But if I have this base nearby as a backup (in case mine fails), it's gold. You'll need a nearby hole, from the surface down to bedrock, so you can place ladders after horde night to reach loot bags... then pick up the ladders on your way back up (if you leave the ladders, zombies may tunnel to them and leave their death pit) I suggest adding 2 wall safes - one for horde-night supplies, one that's empty so I can dump my every-day gear as I rush into the base. For multiplayer, each person has 2 safes. Sometimes I add more safes, for loot overflow when grabbing loot bags.

Just curious could this be modified for some servers running mods like War3Zuk which has giant sized zombies? I would imagine that the center hole would have to be larger to accommodate more of those center poles so you can have your zombie entrances to your pit about 4, 5 or maybe 6 blocks tall.

I saw a stream from the holo members having their first horde night and thought it was strange that freaking spike traps one shot the early horde raid in one hit. Like, how much damage are spike traps suppose to do?

It's hilarious how much you need to exploit the janky pathing just to exist in this game considering the devs still think it's ok for zombies to eat through a meter of reinforced concrete.

personally i like the risk of dying so i only use pre existing structures which i modify, been doing this to keep some enjoyment going as its become way too easy, great vid though i enjoyed it very much thanks

Might want to press the * key on your numpad to turn the AI off while you're building, to stop random zeds rocking up. (Provided you've enabled dev mode first in the console dm )

The only problem is if you fall in the hole without Blocks to get out, you have to dig an exit and then fill in what you dug.
