Hey Paul, that’s the best HSPU progression video on the internet! Really great stuff. I am working on the 90 degree HSPU. With the age of 59 not the easiest thing you can imagine. Wish me luck! You are definitely a great inspiration ! Cheers Beend
Good day there Paul ! When you say "have your hands externally rotated" I guess is mostly a clue to make sure your arms are near your body when doing the triangle (no flaring). Rotating the hands externally helps with that but when doing the HS pushup there is also a tension between control with your hands and too much external rotation (I basically keep my index straight)
awesome, paul! i'm at crow to handstand level now. at age 69 it's hard to say how far i can take things, but i keep on trying to get better without hurting myself.
Great Video and good explanations. You can do also do the deficit HSPU at a wall. The step from HSPU to deficit HSPU is huge though, or is it just me? What do you think of EMOM Training instead of the Super Sets? Or Cluster Sets like doing 2 HSPU Wall asissted, 30s Rest, 5 times. Assuming you can do that with good form you would have done 10 wall assisted HSPU in roughly 2.5 Minutes.
Yes I like to mix it up lots of ways and all of them are good. Fill gaps with slow eccentrics and holds in the different positions, with and without the wall
Rest is tricky with these type of skills as everyone’s intensity is different due to the difference in strength, skill, balance etc. A guide is around 60-120 seconds per set but I’d normally program ‘rest as needed’
