In this episode, we're putting out fires! For real - for some reason, fires are now possible in our region, and instead of rushing to figure out which mod is failing to remove that nuisance, we're going with it as it highlighted an embarrassing need for more fire station coverage! With some additional services put in place, we continue expanding the residential cluster in northwestern Pine Harbour with a very modern apartment complex, medium density. Afterwards we finally implement a train station in this part of Pine Harbour, something you guys have requested numerous times - and we make it a fully custom train station at that!

- What's the rationale behind this project:
What happens if a washed-up-used-to-be-RU-vidr gathers a bunch of "generic" looking assets (though mostly inspired by Australian / Canadian cityscapes) with the hopes of creating a Cities: Skylines region full of towns and cities that both look realistic and are inspired by Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA, while at the same time don't really replicate any one particular style? No idea, let's find out.
Join me in this Cities: Skylines modded gameplay / let's play / timelapse series as we expand the region, and build new infrastructure, highways, public transit, industrial pockets, NIMBY-neighbourhoods, sprawling suburbs and bustling downtowns. And of course, use tress excessively to cover up any imperfections!

Which Theme and LUT are you using?
- Theme is Los Angeles by OWL, slightly mixed with Grass and Pavement textures from the NotSoRocky Hills theme by Khanador. LUT is Coastal by Ronyx69.
How do you place residential buildings so fast in suburbs/neighbourhoods?

Regarding the train station: For smaller train stations, it's quite common that not all carriages are possible to use to step in/out off on to the platform. They usually announce it on the train if the next stations is one of those shorter ones, so that people can move to the carriages that can be used. Since this is just a station in the middle of "nowhere", I think it's quite realistic.

@@user-ib9pz6id5b Okay, I might have worded it poorly by implying that it's common. I know about two train stations in my country, and they both work in the same way as I wrote in my first comment. So what I meant is that IF the train stations are small enough, train companies have a common solution that they use to be able to utilize that train stop.

Others have mentioned it, but if you ever get to tweaking the station, you should add a ramp-segment to the stairs for wheel-chair accessibility. It's a noticable feature at most every train station.

Hi bud, great to hear that you enjoyed the vacation! Nice to see you here back) Love the build! Just a few minor suggestions: 1) I saw some heavy trucks going through those new small roads near the apartments, I think those streets should be banned from trucks at least to try to increase value of those) 2) There should definitely be as many connections to the station, as this is the main transport object un the region and helps people to avoid using cars, so a path to red brick apartments is essential 😅 3) There is no bus connection to the station, and it’s close to the main road, so having a bus to detour 500 metres to cover the station would be a good idea to cover more houses with the station and also there is a roundabout there, so no problem in turning around (and that stop also will cover shopping mall) 4) In ideal world with infinite money the station should have been on the bridge to have coverage of the entire area (not on the outskirts) but in order to maintain budget, the council moved it to an easier place to build on, but, there definitely should be trolleybus or bus network going all ways from it)) anyway, thanks a lot, enjoyed it million times😊

I live along a mainline train line and one of the stops near me has short platforms and they just don’t open the last set of doors. As this is station is a small one that doesn’t make that much difference. The station looks great aswell

you should definetely make the platform long enough for the trains! Just expanding it to where the train stands would do the job and the asymetrie might look very cool. But of course huge respect for completing the challenging task of a custom station :)

Ramp access, Bike racks, or lockers, bus, tram or trolley stops, multiple access points to the station. Pretty sure most have been mentioned but adding a comment helps your logarithmic stats. Oh and btw, Thank you for another great instalment in the series. Cheers Lance 🇦🇺

Honestly I think Pine Harbours central train station needs expansion, it seems pretty small considering the city’s size

@@johnson0618 yes but obviously PD deserves a large station. Pine Harbours station is only two platforms, like every other station in the region besides PD. I think at this point it deserves at least 3 or 4 platforms, being the second largest city in the whole region and all Obviously it’s up to him though, as it’s his build, just a suggestion

@bababababababa that's what I was thinking. Of course PD deserves a big one but the PH one should be just as big or a little bigger, or have a second station somewhere else to ease traffic

I've noticed that a lot of people don't understand that density does not eliminate sprawl. Just look at several C and some B tier Chinese cities. Designed with all the features of a Western (USA) suburban hellscape, but with apartments instead of single-family homes. Hell just look at Houston, TX.

Id say have the station mainly be in use for short distance trains or those making frequent stops and that are also shorter in lenght. Its quite unusual to see the intercity train using this smaller station.

It's pretty common for train stations to be too short. Usually for newer stations it's a budget measure. The inconvenience to commuters not worth its weight in concrete. For "story" reasons you could say that the city demanded the developers of those new apartments pay some of the cost as part of the development application and the developers insisted it had to be as cheap as possible. A not uncommon occurence. Other than ramps, what has been suggested, given that you said 2 lines go through it, some sort of more direct platform connection be it lifts or just a ped walkway across the tracks would be useful for interchange purposes. Nobody wants to walk out of the station just to walk back into the station if they can help it.

What a great thing to wake up to! Love to be back in Coniferia! This little elevated platform parking next to the residential blocks is killing me. It's so good. It's stuff like this that makes you really stand out here, Infra! And seeing that the train station immediately gets used my so many people is a great indication that it was needed there. Well done. Although there is not a lot of space at this spot you built a beautiful slick looking station. I would keep an eye on any potential trains backing up there if this route is being used by cargo trains as well, just to be sure.

I would love to see two types of sports venues/ stadiums 🏟to illustrate the rivalry between Port Douglas and Pine Harbour. That's a nice train stop, I think a pedestrian deck to get from one platform to the other would be very useful. Well done. One thing I also do when building custom stations is to use network shelters. They look more realistic than the tram/bus shelters because they are larger, but that is just a personal preference. (the asset is called Station Shelters by Ronyx69)

Fires are OK (in the game I mean, not in real life :/ ) they are a natural part of city regeneration. Also, thanks to you I now use Node controller on every road node and spend way too much time making roads smaller, Cheers haha. BTW Serious tunes ;)

Given that you only have a few steps up to the platform it is a pity you haven't made a ramp to make them fully accessible for those in wheelchairs/ with luggage or with buggies (strollers). Otherwise, a lovely build.

Hey dude! What's the FPS your game runs at? I watch your videos and notice how smooth it is, but when I play my game, it's below 30 FPS. I can't understand it. I have a 3070, 32GB DDR4 RAM, and an i7 10700KF. Also, I wanted to know if this happens to you too, in my game... I set the graphics and suddenly, when I put something on the map, it goes back to vanilla.

please add more cycle lanes for the bike people, 😆and also given that you have only given the train station stairs/steps and no ramps, people in wheelchairs, or people with luggage, or people pushing prams / buggies / strollers would have a hard time
