It's no secret that I'm a fan of modular model railways (I built one myself after all) and here the Dartmoor 009 Railway Group have taken that idea and run with it. Each member has created their own self contained little layout or diorama, but all joined together these form an entire railway system with multiple stations and passing points.
This video was shot during a quiet period at the recent Bluebell Railway Model Railway Weekend and luckily enough I was able to follow one train across an entire journey down the line. It's fascinating how the scenery changes as the train passes through different areas, just like when travelling on a real railway. So sit back relax and lets take a trip along the Dartmoor 009 Railway Groups's modular model railway!

Just to be clear, as listed in the title/description this layout was built by members of the Dartmoor 009 Railway Group and not me. Each module was constructed by a different member, all being joined together to form one big railway. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍

This was probably the best layout at the Bluebell Railway model exhibition. Loved the bridge module. Great group of guys to talk to as well.

That's a modular system isn't it. They seem to have been quite restrained this time - no desert scenes with camels, dinosaur modules or straight through a deep welsh slate quarry. I'll wait for you to do yours when you need a quick project. Great vid as ever. Thanks for youtube-ing it . .

Thanks, I was wondering where it had come from. Whoever designed it is a genius. I'd also like to know whatever happened to the diesel shunter that set off at the beginning of the video, you never showed the end. In my minds eye it is still out there somewhere with its one box van wandering about lost.

Do you think you could make a Module Narrow Gauge, you might be able to use the viaduct you weren't able to use in the 00 Modular layout
