Its May 16th, 1919 and the 552 foot steamer D.R. Hanna is sailing on Lake Huron headed for Buffalo, New York with 377,000 bushels of wheat from Duluth, Minnesota.

I have dove the DR Hanna twice. 140 to the mud and the engine room access door is the only to get inside of her. Lot of the rooms are a mess but the boilers and engine are still in place, but it is a difficult penetration dive.

Grain is a dangerous cargo. As events like this or extreme weather can cause it to shift violently. The angle of repose is on average 20° and it is hard to get it to shift back. If you have the time, you can counter the list by taking on some water to even, or at least lessen the list. Though, in a lot of cases there is not enough time to even attempt it.

@@ConnorTenold I would be willing to help with research to help you. Btw Rice is often the worst of the grain as it has the hulls removed which makes it even more slippery.
