When I was growing up(early mid-90s), a ticket to Bristol was impossible to get, especially the night race. It was sold out for YEARS in advance.... And now, when you watch the races, you can see empty seats. It's sad what NASCAR has become.
@@quietbatpersonthey made the cars horrible, they took away the power, they introduced this horrible play off system, they kicked out all the mom and pop teams that made NASCAR a working mans sport, they put a charter system in place where only the very rich teams decide who gets to race and they made repairing the car illegal (you only have five minutes to do some minor repairs, not like back then when they replaced transmissions and went back on the track after 45 minutes) NASCAR just gave away everything that made it amazing in the first place. Now its a soulless, corporate run sport where drivers aren’t allowed to have an opinion anymore. They also are closing down all those legendary tracks or ruin them with questionable repaves. I always hated the COT era, but these days I absolutely long for it!
That #09 car seems to have been in every single accident. Your run, Jake, reminds of the Dick Trickle's performance here in 1997, when he finished 3rd after a spectacular late-race run.
Its all about the small detail. Seeing the rubber build up on the yellow apron line. Seeing the newer concrete patches that were around the track of that time. Love it.
There is a lot of a difference from the default Nr2003 Bristol to the new version you showed off the new one awesome and realistic. The yellow line on default nr2003 Bristol is thin and the realistic one you are trying is a lot thicker and miss alined which the real life version of the track is
The graphics for it sure does hold up well. I used to love to play Nascar Legends. I wish they would do a upgrade next gen or redo and release that game.
That ending had me on the edge of my seat, goddamn. Gotta love a good slow-burner oval race. Good stuff hearin the CARS Tour shouted out. No wonder Harvick, Marks, Burton, and Junior put money into it: it's so much of what NASCAR used to be like.
"You'll never make it through Bristol clean" My favourite win was a 50% race where I didn't have the hood of the car 😂I had a crash early so I went out of sync with the pitstops. There were lots of yellows and in the end I found myself in the top 10. I started passing cars and when I was I think in 4th or 5th, the leaders started pitting and I found myself leading. My hands were so sweaty and trembling in the last dozen or so laps!
Beautiful! When I began watching your videos a while back I decided to re-install this Sim. Frustratingly beautiful at times, but so much fun to race. Thank you for your hard work.
Dover, Richmond, Martinsville, Darlington, and Bristol. I say more, but Chefs Kisses. I was in the 1990s a young teenager enjoying these races back to back on cable TV. The 2000s was the beginning to merge more faster cookie cutter tracks and pushed out some most all of the legacy short tracks I few times saw on a rare local TNN weekend race before.
I feel like NASCAR Thunder 2003 was one of the last Console NASCAR Games to really nail the bumps on tracks and they could get your car upset, plow into the wall or even spin you out. its always been one of my favorite parts of the game.
I was 13 when this game came out. I remember editing alllll the cars for the next 3 years to match who was in the series. My replay vault was filled with blowovers lol
Great video, NR2003 really does hold up well, quick question for you, how did you get your shifter working? I have a MOZA base with pedals and (at the moment) sequential shifter and the game wont recognise the shifter when configuring controls? I have the H-Pattern but its not bolted to my rig at the moment and don't want to go through the trouble of mounting it if I cant get that to work either
YES! A GPLaps NASCAR/NR2003 video, been waiting for these. By far my favorite series you cover, nobody does it like you. I can always really immerse myself in these videos
Was asking around about how to recreate something like this. It seems that if you had a lot of quality footage and photos, you might be able to use photogrametry to recreate a track like this. Although this looks authentic. I really wish we could have this version for iRacing. I just don't like the progressive banking version--even before 7th gen. The good news is that old-school Bristol and Daytona have a lot of video footage from over the years. If you had the raw reels you could get a good approximation of some of these tracks.
The GOAT has returned, and so has Nascar Racing 2003! A magnificent rendition of the Bristol track, but I gotta ask this question - did this place actually host a college football game? It looks like it could...
Faaaaaaantastic! (As sir Murray would say) loved watching this whilst on holiday in Spain! You were a hot knife through butter on those closing laps, the commentators would have gone crazy!
man, I envy you guys who can play this game, I don't know why every time I install it it works for 2 days and them it start crashing everytime I hit to enter the track, such o bummer for me
All these years later that is still such an amazing game. I spent so many hours playing this. I still have it and I think it might be time to re download it.
Not sure if I can post a direct link here, but just look up "nascar racing 2003 installation tutorial" and a RU-vidr by the name of TheBenCrazy has an in-depth tutorial on how to not only install it, but how to update it with patches & fixes to modernize it for newer hardware.
