For the longest time India has always missed the link between culture and films/ series and art. Look at Japan how they have managed to boost tourism in their country by amusement parks, cafes, hotels etc based on anime theme. Ps their visuals are of great quality and lot af🔥🔥. After Bahubali and desi superheroes like nagraj/shaktimaan we haven't had anything worthwhile of our own .

Agree and I think that's because of lack of development. Japan's anime and S.Korea's kpop are biggest source of attraction but it doesn't end there. When foreigners go to these countries they are also pleasantly surprised by the amazing development . Which creates positive impression and they want to go there again and again. Whereas India inspite having soft power like cinema and spiritualism but due to lack of development can't effectively use it and the poor infrastructure doesn't help much.

That's exactly what I have always thought.. The Japanese have been one of the most successful non-western cultures that not only have managed to create a distinct cultural identity and style.. but exert it's influence around the world.. I love that now a Indian comic series exists.. but it's style is still heavily heavily inspired by Western comics.. Manga and by extension anime has such a stylistic and thematic difference that you can easily know the difference between a animation and anime.. I wish we can create something that's just as unique and inspired by India..

The thing that makes japanese manga higher over any other comic book is the approach towards development of characters in their story. What we do is create a main protagonist in any particular story and the rest are just side kicks. Where if it was a japanese, the characters are developed individually with every character unique in their own way. Every character have their own fan base.

I personally feel Comics should first and foremost focus on an engaging story and awesome characters before venturing into 'sending a message/social commentary'. As soon as a comic book starts to feel like it's preaching, especially when it hasn't done anything to engage you in it's universe so far, it's an instant meh.

@@vardaantrivedi2052 understand this bro, all American comics would come under the shounen category in Japanese manga, and shounen (targeted towards less than 18) is only one of the million genres they have, Japanese manga is too exhaustive and good, as for the indian counterparts, since Indian comics are a relatively new industry, they have a lot of room to grow, so some day, we might actually see quality Indian comics. Tbh as a person who reads a lot of manga, I’ve read some Indian comics, and they feel very amateur, so no one would opt for Indian comics over Japanese especially in the age of the internet where you can read any manga online

I think increasing anime popularity in India will surely help in this. Personally I started reading Manga of some anime which blew my mind. Soon I was into comics but coudn't afford Marvel and DC comics or Manga. Out of the blue I started researching about Indian comics. Most comics weren't available and me from a small town has no comicbook culture at all. I then stumbled across graphic India comics. They were beautiful representation of our culture with stunning artwork. I bought some volumes and shared it with friends. All those hardcore netflix watchers just made fun of it and fun of me while every anime fan atleast gave it a shot and they loved it. What I think is Indians needs to understand value of art and graphics only then they will accept comics and comic culture. Value of art is something that school dont teach nor netflix like streaming services promotes it.

Imagine the Classic characters like Mandrake, Phantom, Nagaraj, Dhruv, and Doga had a 5 Movie introduction. Then they all came together in a group having a fancy name for a movie to fight a big baddie, and at the end, Doga went to Chacha Chowdhury to seek mentorship. Then there will be a 6th movie where out of the 5, 2 will die (Probably Doga and Dhruv), and Chowdhury will be like Alfred Pennyworth. Then there will be new characters emerging kinda like Young Avengers. Presenting #TheOrientVerse or #TheSindhuVerse (or any other good name)

I have not read Manga yet but if I compare American comics to European comics, then I would say that European comics (especially the old ones) are far better than American comics. I reccomend reading ' The Adventures of TinTin ' and ' Asterix The Gaul ' comics. They are very few in quantity but pretty darn good! Indian comics should aspire to rise to those standards.

@abbashaidari8313
@abbashaidari8313 3 года назад
I love the fact that there are Indian creators and artists out there trying to make this comic.. but one thing that I feel is this.. the reason comics are so popular in the west is that since their inception comics were extremely cheap and therefore affordable to most of the working class population.. it was something working class parents could buy for their kids because they couldn't afford to buy books and novels.. and therefore comics were a universal experience for all.. it's then these very kids who grew up with sentimental value attached to these stories and characters who have made the comic culture in America what it is.. Now the artists and writers behind these amazing comics do have to get paid for their work.. but making the comics extremely premium puts it out of the reach of most people.. if they print these comics in the cheapest way that they can (which is what was the case with comics in the US.. and this is what birthed the various comic book aesthetics that we're familiar with today.. like the dotted type of printing and off colouring and comic sans) people now try to recreate those very aesthetics in multi-million dollar movie budgets (case in point Spiderman into the spider verse).. So if they make the comics more affordable by cutting costs on the printing without compromising on their own pay.. it will increase sales and in the end make them more money.. and they can always have a premium "collector's-edition" for those who would want it and could afford it..

If Comic books are near 100 Rupees mark only then they will make good sale in India, Also wherever comics have succeeded its because of their regional language mostly. India is divided in so many languages that's why creators have hard time to cater to all regions. Also comic book based tv series, movies, anime series boost its market whereas Indian TV and Film Production houses has been known for non creative work always. They only make certain formula based movies/shows. We have lots of stories from many regional writers yet we hardly see movies made on any books leave alone comic books. 90s were time when there were very limited entertainment options and people used to read much. I was reading Indrajaal,Manoj, Raj, Pran ,Diamond comics. Raj comics has tasted a good success with 80s-90s kids. I also Used to read Pocket books Hindi Novel. But now I get very less time to read anything with so much distraction all around.

it's true that we have the scope for a much more diverse and unique way to create our own franchise of superheroes since we belong to a country with a plethora of fictional characters from different sources of literature.. but unfortunately, neither the media industry nor the audience made the way through the scopes it had..... it still ve the potential to be global like never before but just an initiator away .... I really hope that the Malayalam movie Minnal Murali be the initiator that we were waiting for ..

your content was really unique .. I really appreciate the effort that you put in.. but I personally have issues with the way you reviewed the 3 comic stories .. you kind of gave it the way that only the 3rd comic is worth watching without actually taking into considerations that tastes differ among the audience.. a review should not be absolute but must be a gist of what the storyline is the little pros and cons that are obvious without entirely giving away the actual content.. and should always give space for the audience to make the ultimate decision of whether to watch or not, in reference to the storyline just heard...
